| [1]And he began again to teach by the sea side, and there gathered unto him a great multitude, so that he entered into a ship, and sat in the sea, and all the people was by the sea side on the land. |
[1]תוב דינ שׁרי הוא מלפ על יד ימא ואתכנשׁו לותה כנשׁא סגיאא איכ דנסק נתב לה בספינתא בימא וכלה כנשׁא קאמ הוא על ארעא על יד ימא |
| [2]And he taught them many things in parables, and said unto them in his doctrine, |
[2]ומלפ הוא להונ במתלא סגי ואמר הוא ביולפנה |
| [3]Hearken: Behold, there went out a sower to sow. |
[3]שׁמעו הא נפק זרועא למזרע |
| [4]And it came to pass as he sowed, that some fell by the way side, and the fouls of the heaven came and devoured it up. |
[4]וכד זרע אית דנפל על יד אורחא ואתת פרחתא ואכלתה |
| [5]And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth, and by and by sprang up, because it had not depth of earth. |
[5]אחרנא דינ נפל על שׁועא איכא דלית ארעא סגי ובר שׁעתה בלץ מטל דלית הוא עומקא דארעא |
| [6]But as soon as the sun was up, it caught heat, and because it had not root, it withered away. |
[6]כד דנח דינ שׁמשׁא חמא ומטל דלית הוא לה עקרא יבשׁ |
| [7]And some fell among the thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it, so that it gave no fruit. |
[7]ואחרנא נפל בית כובא וסלקו כובא וחנקוהי ופארא לא יהב |
| [8]Some again fell in good ground, and did yield fruit that sprung up, and grew, and it brought forth, some thirty fold, some sixty fold, and some an hundred fold. |
[8]אחרנא דינ נפל על ארעא טבתא וסלק ורבא ויהב פארא אית דתלתינ ואית דשׁתינ ואית דמאא |
| [9]Then he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. |
[9]ואמר הוא מנ דאית לה אדנא דנשׁמע נשׁמע |
| [10]And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve, asked him of the parable. |
[10]כד הוו דינ בלחודיהונ שׁאלוהי הנונ דעמה עמ תרעסרתה מתלא הו |
| [11]And he said unto them, To you it is given to know the mystery of the Kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all things be done in parables, |
[11]ואמר להונ ישׁוע לכונ יהיב למדע ארזא דמלכותה דאלהא לבריא דינ כל מדמ במתלא הוא |
| [12]That they seeing, may see, and not discern: and they hearing, may hear, and not understand, lest at any time they should turn, and their sins should be forgiven them. |
[12]דכד חזינ נחזונ ולא נחזונ וכד שׁמעינ נשׁמעונ ולא נסתכלונ דלמא נתפנונ ונשׁתבקונ להונ חטהיהונ |
| [13]Again he said unto them, Perceive ye not this parable? how then should ye understand all other parables? |
[13]ואמר להונ לא ידעינ אנתונ לה למתלא הנא ואיכנא כלהונ מתלא תדעונ |
| [14]The sower soweth the word. |
[14]זרועא דזרע מלתא זרע |
| [15]And these are they that receive the seed by the wayside, in whom the word is sown: but when they have heard it, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts. |
[15]הלינ דינ דעל יד אורחא הלינ אנונ דמזדרעא בהונ מלתא ומא דשׁמעו מחדא אתא סטנא ושׁקל לה למלתא דזריעא בלבהונ |
| [16]And likewise they that receive the seed in stony ground, are they, which when they have heard the word, straightway receive it with gladness. |
[16]והנונ דעל שׁועא אזדרעו הלינ אנונ דמא דשׁמעו מלתא מחדא בחדותא מקבלינ לה |
| [17]Yet have they no root in themselves, and endure but a time: for when trouble and persecution ariseth for the word, immediately they be offended. |
[17]ולית להונ עקרא בנפשׁהונ אלא דזבנא אנונ ומא דהוא אולצנא או רדופיא מטל מלתא עגל מתכשׁלינ |
| [18]Also they that receive the seed among the thorns, are such as hear the word: |
[18]והנונ דבית כובא מזדרעינ הלינ אנונ הנונ דשׁמעו מלתא |
| [19]But the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things enter in, and choke the word, and it is unfruitful. |
[19]ורניא דעלמא הנא וטועיי דעותרא ושׁרכא דרגיגתא אחרניתא עאלנ חנקנ לה למלתא ודלא פארא הויא |
| [20]But they that have received seed in good ground, are they that hear the word and receive it, and bring forth fruit: one corn thirty, another sixty, and some an hundred. |
[20]והנונ דבארעא טבתא אזדרעו הלינ אנונ דשׁמעינ מלתא ומקבלינ ויהבינ פארא בתלתינ ובשׁתינ ובמאא |
| [21]Also he said unto them, Is the candle light to be put under a bushel, or under the table, and not to be put on a candlestick? |
[21]ואמר להונ דלמא אתא שׁרגא דתחית סאתא נתתסימ או תחית ערסא לא הוא דעל מנרתא נתתסימ |
| [22]For there is nothing hid, that shall not be opened: neither is there a secret, but that it shall come to light. |
[22]לית גיר מדמ דטשׁא דלא נתגלא ולא הוא בטושׁיא ולא מתגלא |
| [23]If any man have ears to hear, let him hear. |
[23]אנ אנשׁ אית לה אדנא דנשׁמע נשׁמע |
| [24]And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear. With what measure ye mete, it shall be measured unto you: and unto you that hear, shall more be given. |
[24]ואמר להונ חזו מנא שׁמעינ אנתונ בהי כילתא דמכילינ אנתונ מתתכיל לכונ ומתתוספ לכונ לאילינ דשׁמעינ |
| [25]For unto him that hath, shall it be given, and from him that hath not, shall be taken away, even that he hath. |
[25]מנ דאית לה גיר נתיהב לה ומנ דלית לה אפ הו דאית לה נשׁתקל מנה |
| [26]Also he said, So is the Kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed in the ground, |
[26]ואמר הוא הכנא הי מלכותא דאלהא איכ אנשׁ דנרמא זרעא בארעא |
| [27]And should sleep, and rise up night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he not knowing how. |
[27]ונדמכ ונקומ בלליא ובאיממא וזרעא נרבא ונארכ כד הו לא ידע |
| [28]For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself, first the blade, then the ears, after that full corn in the ears. |
[28]ארעא גיר מיתיא לה לפארא ולוקדמ הוא עסבא ובתרה שׁבלא אחרית דינ חטתא משׁמליתא בשׁבלא |
| [29]And as anon as the fruit showeth itself, soon he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come. |
[29]מא דשׁמנ דינ פארא מחדא אתיא מגלא דמטי חצדא |
| [30]He said moreover, Whereunto shall we liken the Kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it? |
[30]ואמר למנא נדמיה למלכותא דאלהא ובאינא מתלא נמתליה |
| [31]It is like a grain of mustard seed, which when it is sown in the earth, is the least of all seeds that be in the earth: |
[31]איכ פרדתא הי דחרדלא הי דמא דאזדרעת בארעא זעוריא הי מנ כלהונ זרעונא דעל ארעא |
| [32]But after that it is sown, it groweth up, and is greatest of all herbs, and beareth great branches, so that the fouls of heaven may build under the shadow of it. |
[32]ומא דאזדרעת סלקא והויא רבא מנ כלהונ ירקונא ועבדא סוכא רורבתא איכ דתשׁכח דבטללה פרחתא תשׁכנ |
| [33]And with many such parables he preached the word unto them, as they were able to hear it. |
[33]במתלא דאיכ הלינ ממלל הוא ישׁוע עמהונ מתלא איכ דמשׁכחינ הוו למשׁמע |
| [34]And without parables spake he nothing unto them: but he expounded all things to his disciples apart. |
[34]ודלא מתלא לא ממלל הוא עמהונ לתלמידוהי דינ בינוהי ולהונ מפשׁק הוא כלמדמ |
| [35]Now the same day when even was come, he said unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side. |
[35]ואמר להונ בהו יומא ברמשׁא נעבר לנ לעברא |
| [36]And they left the multitude, and took him as he was in the ship: and there were also with him other ships. |
[36]ושׁבקו לכנשׁא ודברוהי כד בספינתא הו וספינא אחרניתא אית הוי עמהונ |
| [37]And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves dashed into the ship, so that it was now full. |
[37]והות עלעלא רבתא ורוחא וגללא נפלינ הוו בספינתא וקריבא הות דתתמלא |
| [38]And he was in the stern asleep on a pillow: and they awoke him, and said to him, Master, careth thou not that we perish? |
[38]הו דינ ישׁוע על בסדיא דמכ הוא בחרתה דספינתא ואתו אקימוהי ואמרינ לה רבנ לא בטיל לכ דאבדינ חננ |
| [39]And he rose up, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, and be still. So the wind ceased, and it was a great calm. |
[39]וקמ וכאא ברוחא ואמר לימא שׁלי זגיר אנת ושׁלית רוחא והוא נוחא רבא |
| [40]Then he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? |
[40]ואמר להונ למנא דחולתנינ אנתונ הכנ ולמנא לית בכונ הימנותא |
| [41]And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, Who is this, that both the wind and sea obey him? |
[41]ודחלו דחלתא רבתא ואמרינ הוו חד לחד מנו כי הנא דרוחא וימא משׁתמעינ לה |
