| [1]Καὶ ἦλθον εἰς τὸ πέραν τῆς θαλάσσης εἰς τὴν χώραν τῶν Γεργεσηνῶν. |
[1]And they came over to the other side of the sea into the country of the Gadarenes. |
| [2]καὶ ἐξελθόντος αὐτοῦ ἐκ τοῦ πλοίου εὐθέως ἀπήντησεν αὐτῷ ἐκ τῶν μνημείων ἄνθρωπος ἐν πνεύματι ἀκαθάρτῳ, |
[2]And when he was come out of the ship, there met him incontinently out of the graves, a man which had an unclean spirit: |
| [3]ὃς τὴν κατοίκησιν εἶχεν ἐν τοῖς μνήμασι, καὶ οὔτε ἁλύσεσιν οὐδεὶς ἠδύνατο αὐτὸν δῆσαι, |
[3]Who had his abiding among the graves, and no man could bind him, no not with chains: |
| [4]διὰ τὸ αὐτὸν πολλάκις πέδαις καὶ ἁλύσεσι δεδέσθαι, καὶ διεσπάσθαι ὑπ᾿ αὐτοῦ τὰς ἁλύσεις καὶ τὰς πέδας συντετρῖφθαι, καὶ οὐδεὶς ἴσχυεν αὐτὸν δαμάσαι· |
[4]Because that when he was often bound with fetters and chains, he plucked the chains asunder, and break the fetters in pieces, neither could any man tame him. |
| [5]καὶ διὰ παντὸς νυκτὸς καὶ ἡμέρας ἐν τοῖς μνήμασι καὶ ἐν τοῖς ὄρεσιν ἦν κράζων καὶ κατακόπτων ἑαυτὸν λίθοις. |
[5]And always both night and day he cried in the mountains, and in the graves, and struck himself with stones. |
| [6]ἰδὼν δὲ τὸν ᾿Ιησοῦν ἀπὸ μακρόθεν ἔδραμε καὶ προσεκύνησεν αὐτόν, |
[6]And when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran, and worshipped him, |
| [7]καὶ κράξας φωνῇ μεγάλῃ λέγει· τί ἐμοὶ καὶ σοί, ᾿Ιησοῦ, υἱὲ τοῦ Θεοῦ τοῦ ὑψίστου; ὁρκίζω σε τὸν Θεόν, μή με βασανίσῃς. |
[7]And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus the Son of the most high God? I charge thee by God, that thou torment me not. |
| [8]ἔλεγε γὰρ αὐτῷ· ἔξελθε τὸ πνεῦμα τὸ ἀκάθαρτον ἐκ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου. |
[8](For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.) |
| [9]καὶ ἐπηρώτα αὐτόν· τί ὄνομά σοι; καὶ ἀπεκρίθη λέγων· λεγεὼν ὄνομά μοι, ὅτι πολλοί ἐσμεν. |
[9]And he asked him, What is thy name? and he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many. |
| [10]καὶ παρεκάλει αὐτὸν πολλὰ ἵνα μὴ ἀποστείλῃ αὐτοὺς ἔξω τῆς χώρας. |
[10]And he prayed him instantly, that he would not send them away out of the country. |
| [11]ἦν δὲ ἐκεῖ ἀγέλη χοίρων μεγάλη βοσκομένη πρὸς τῷ ὄρει· |
[11]Now there was there in the mountains a great herd of swine, feeding. |
| [12]καὶ παρεκάλεσαν αὐτὸν πάντες οἱ δαίμονες λέγοντες· πέμψον ἡμᾶς εἰς τοὺς χοίρους, ἵνα εἰς αὐτοὺς εἰσέλθωμεν. |
[12]And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them. |
| [13]καὶ ἐπέτρεψεν αὐτοῖς εὐθέως ὁ ᾿Ιησοῦς. καὶ ἐξελθόντα τὰ πνεύματα τὰ ἀκάθαρτα εἰσῆλθον εἰς τοὺς χοίρους· καὶ ὥρμησεν ἡ ἀγέλη κατὰ τοῦ κρημνοῦ εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν· ἦσαν δὲ ὡς δισχίλιοι· καὶ ἐπνίγοντο ἐν τῇ θαλάσσῃ. |
[13]And incontinently Jesus gave them leave. Then the unclean spirits went out and entered into the swine, and the herd ran headlong from the high bank into the sea, (and there were about two thousand swine) and they were drowned in the sea. |
| [14]καὶ οἱ βόσκοντες τοὺς χοίρους ἔφυγον καὶ ἀπήγγειλαν εἰς τὴν πόλιν καὶ εἰς τοὺς ἀγρούς· καὶ ἐξῆλθον ἰδεῖν τί ἐστι τὸ γεγονός. |
[14]And the swineherds fled, and told it in the city, and in the country, and they came out to see what it was that was done. |
| [15]καὶ ἔρχονται πρὸς τὸν ᾿Ιησοῦν, καὶ θεωροῦσι τὸν δαιμονιζόμενον καθήμενον καὶ ἱματισμένον καὶ σωφρονοῦντα, τὸν ἐσχηκότα τὸν λεγεῶνα, καὶ ἐφοβήθησαν. |
[15]And they came to Jesus, and saw him that had been possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sit both clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid. |
| [16]καὶ διηγήσαντο αὐτοῖς οἱ ἰδόντες πῶς ἐγένετο τῷ δαιμονιζομένῳ καὶ περὶ τῶν χοίρων. |
[16]And they that saw it, told them, what was done to him that was possessed with the devil, and concerning the swine. |
| [17]καὶ ἤρξαντο παρακαλεῖν αὐτὸν ἀπελθεῖν ἀπὸ τῶν ὁρίων αὐτῶν. |
[17]Then they began to pray him, that he would depart from their coasts. |
| [18]καὶ ἐμβαίνοντος αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸ πλοῖον παρεκάλει αὐτὸν ὁ δαιμονισθεὶς ἵνα μετ᾿ αὐτοῦ ᾖ. |
[18]And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil, prayed him that he might be with him. |
| [19]καὶ οὐκ ἀφῆκεν αὐτόν, ἀλλὰ λέγει αὐτῷ· ὕπαγε εἰς τὸν οἶκόν σου πρὸς τοὺς σοὺς καὶ ἀνάγγειλον αὐτοῖς ὅσα σοι ὁ Κύριος πεποίηκε καὶ ἠλέησέ σε. |
[19]Howbeit, Jesus would not suffer him, but said unto him, Go thy way home to thy friends, and show them what great things the Lord hath done unto thee, and how he hath had compassion on thee. |
| [20]καὶ ἀπῆλθε καὶ ἤρξατο κηρύσσειν ἐν τῇ Δεκαπόλει ὅσα ἐποίησεν αὐτῷ ὁ ᾿Ιησοῦς, καὶ πάντες ἐθαύμαζον. |
[20]So he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis, what great things Jesus had done unto him: and all men did marvel. |
| [21]Καὶ διαπεράσαντος τοῦ ᾿Ιησοῦ ἐν τῷ πλοίῳ πάλιν εἰς τὸ πέραν συνήχθη ὄχλος πολὺς ἐπ᾿ αὐτόν, καὶ ἦν παρὰ τὴν θάλασσαν. |
[21]And when Jesus was come over again by ship unto the other side, a great multitude gathered to him, and he was near unto the sea. |
| [22]Καὶ ἔρχεται εἷς τῶν ἀρχισυναγώγων, ὀνόματι ᾿Ιάειρος, καὶ ἰδὼν αὐτὸν πίπτει πρὸς τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦ |
[22]And behold, there came one of the rulers of the Synagogue, whose name was Jairus: and when he saw him, he fell down at his feet, |
| [23]καὶ παρεκάλει αὐτὸν πολλά, λέγων ὅτι τὸ θυγάτριόν μου ἐσχάτως ἔχει, ἵνα ἐλθὼν ἐπιθῇς αὐτῇ τὰς χεῖρας, ὅπως σωθῇ καὶ ζήσεται. |
[23]And besought him instantly, saying, My little daughter lieth at point of death: I pray thee that thou wouldest come and lay thine hands on her, that she may be healed, and live. |
| [24]καὶ ἀπῆλθε μετ᾿ αὐτοῦ· καὶ ἠκολούθει αὐτῷ ὄχλος πολύς, καὶ συνέθλιβον αὐτόν. |
[24]Then he went with him, and a great multitude followed him, and thronged him. |
| [25]Καὶ γυνή τις οὖσα ἐν ῥύσει αἵματος ἔτη δώδεκα, |
[25](And there was a certain woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, |
| [26]καὶ πολλὰ παθοῦσα ὑπὸ πολλῶν ἰατρῶν καὶ δαπανήσασα τὰ παρ᾿ ἑαυτῆς πάντα, καὶ μηδὲν ὠφεληθεῖσα, ἀλλὰ μᾶλλον εἰς τὸ χεῖρον ἐλθοῦσα, |
[26]And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and it availed her nothing, but she became much worse. |
| [27]ἀκούσασα περὶ τοῦ ᾿Ιησοῦ, ἐλθοῦσα ἐν τῷ ὄχλῳ ὄπισθεν ἥψατο τοῦ ἱματίου αὐτοῦ· |
[27]When she had heard of Jesus, she came in the press behind, and touched his garment. |
| [28]ἔλεγε γὰρ ἐν ἑαυτῇ ὅτι ἐὰν ἅψωμαι κἂν τῶν ἱματίων αὐτοῦ, σωθήσομαι. |
[28]For she said, If I may but touch his clothes, I shall be whole. |
| [29]καὶ εὐθέως ἐξηράνθη ἡ πηγὴ τοῦ αἵματος αὐτῆς, καὶ ἔγνω τῷ σώματι ὅτι ἴαται ἀπὸ τῆς μάστιγος. |
[29]And straightway the course of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body, that she was healed of that plague. |
| [30]καὶ εὐθέως ὁ ᾿Ιησοῦς ἐπιγνοὺς ἐν ἑαυτῷ τὴν ἐξ αὐτοῦ δύναμιν ἐξελθοῦσαν, ἐπιστραφεὶς ἐν τῷ ὄχλῳ ἔλεγε· τίς μου ἥψατο τῶν ἱματίων; |
[30]And immediately when Jesus did know in himself the virtue that went out of him, he turned him round about in the press, and said, Who hath touched my clothes? |
| [31]καὶ ἔλεγον αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ· βλέπεις τὸν ὄχλον συνθλίβοντά σε, καὶ λέγεις τίς μου ἥψατο; |
[31]And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude throng thee, and sayest thou, Who did touch me? |
| [32]καὶ περιεβλέπετο ἰδεῖν τὴν τοῦτο ποιήσασαν. |
[32]And he looked round about, to see her that had done that. |
| [33]ἡ δὲ γυνὴ φοβηθεῖσα καὶ τρέμουσα, εἰδυῖα ὃ γέγονεν ἐπ᾿ αὐτῇ, ἦλθε καὶ προσέπεσεν αὐτῷ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ πᾶσαν τὴν ἀλήθειαν. |
[33]And the woman feared and trembled: for she knew what was done in her, and she came and fell down before him, and told him the whole truth. |
| [34]ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτῇ· θύγατερ, ἡ πίστις σου σέσωκέ σε· ὕπαγε εἰς εἰρήνην, καὶ ἴσθι ὑγιὴς ἀπὸ τῆς μάστιγός σου. |
[34]And he said to her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole: go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.) |
| [35]῎Ετι αὐτοῦ λαλοῦντος ἔρχονται ἀπὸ τοῦ ἀρχισυναγώγου λέγοντες ὅτι ἡ θυγάτηρ σου ἀπέθανε· τί ἔτι σκύλλεις τὸν διδάσκαλον; |
[35]While he yet spake, there came from the same ruler of the Synagogues house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why diseasest thou the Master any further? |
| [36]ὁ δὲ ᾿Ιησοῦς εὐθέως ἀκούσας τὸν λόγον λαλούμενον λέγει τῷ ἀρχισυναγώγῳ· μὴ φοβοῦ, μόνον πίστευε. |
[36]As soon as Jesus heard that word spoken, he said unto the ruler of the Synagogue, Be not afraid: only believe. |
| [37]καὶ οὐκ ἀφῆκεν αὑτῷ οὐδένα συνακολουθῆσαι εἰ μὴ Πέτρον καὶ ᾿Ιάκωβον καὶ ᾿Ιωάννην τὸν ἀδελφὸν ᾿Ιακώβου. |
[37]And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter and James, and John the brother of James. |
| [38]καὶ ἔρχεται εἰς τὸν οἶκον τοῦ ἀρχισυναγώγου, καὶ θεωρεῖ θόρυβον, καὶ κλαίοντας καὶ ἀλαλάζοντας πολλά, |
[38]So he came unto the house of the ruler of the Synagogue, and saw the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly. |
| [39]καὶ εἰσελθὼν λέγει αὐτοῖς· τί θορυβεῖσθε καὶ κλαίετε; τὸ παιδίον οὐκ ἀπέθανεν, ἀλλὰ καθεύδει. καὶ κατεγέλων αὐτοῦ. |
[39]And he went in, and said unto them, Why make ye this trouble, and weep? the child is not dead, but sleepeth. |
| [40]ὁ δὲ ἐκβαλὼν πάντας παραλαμβάνει τὸν πατέρα τοῦ παιδίου καὶ τὴν μητέρα καὶ τοὺς μετ᾿ αὐτοῦ, καὶ εἰσπορεύεται ὅπου ἦν τὸ παιδίον ἀνακείμενον, |
[40]And they laughed him to scorn: but he put them all out, and took the father, and the mother of the child, and them that were with him, and entered in where the child lay, |
| [41]καὶ κρατήσας τῆς χειρὸς τοῦ παιδίου λέγει αὐτῇ· ταλιθά, κοῦμι· ὅ ἐστι μεθερμηνευόμενον, τὸ κοράσιον, σοὶ λέγω, ἔγειρε. |
[41]And took the child by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi, which is by interpretation, Maiden, I say unto thee, arise. |
| [42]καὶ εὐθέως ἀνέστη τὸ κοράσιον καὶ περιεπάτει· ἦν γὰρ ἐτῶν δώδεκα. καὶ ἐξέστησαν ἐκστάσει μεγάλῃ. |
[42]And straightway the maiden arose, and walked: for she was of the age of twelve years, and they were astonished out of measure. |
| [43]καὶ διεστείλατο αὐτοῖς πολλὰ ἵνα μηδεὶς γνῷ τοῦτο· καὶ εἶπε δοθῆναι αὐτῇ φαγεῖν. |
[43]And he charged them straightly that no man should know of it, and commanded to give her meat. |
