PesNT(Mur)
[1]AtG1722 thatG1565 timeG2540 HerodG2264 the tetrarchG5076 heardG191[G5656] of the fameG189 of JesusG2424, [1]And at that time Herod the Tetrarch heard the fame of Jesus:
[2]AndG2532 saidG2036[G5627] unto hisG846 servantsG3816, ThisG3778 isG2076[G5748] JohnG2491 the BaptistG910; heG846 is risenG1453[G5681] fromG575 the deadG3498; andG2532 thereforeG1223[G5124] mighty worksG1411 do shew forth themselvesG1754[G5719] inG1722 himG846. [2]and he said to his servants: This is John the Baptizer: he is risen from the grave: therefore works of power are wrought by him.
[3]ForG1063 HerodG2264 had laid holdG2902[G5660] on JohnG2491, and boundG1210[G5656] himG846, andG2532 putG5087[G5639] him inG1722 prisonG5438 forG1223 HerodiasG2266' sakeG1223, hisG846 brotherG80 Philip'sG5376 wifeG1135. [3]Now this Herod had seized John, and bound him and cast him into prison; on account of Herodias, the wife of his brother Philip.
[4]ForG1063 JohnG2491 saidG3004[G5707] unto himG846, It isG1832 notG3756 lawfulG1832[G5748] for theeG4671 to haveG2192[G5721] herG846. [4]For John had said to him: It is no lawful for her to be thy wife.
[5]AndG2532 when he wouldG2309[G5723] have putG615 himG846 to deathG615[G5658], he fearedG5399[G5675] the multitudeG3793, becauseG3754 they countedG2192[G5707] himG846 asG5613 a prophetG4396. [5]And he had wished to kill him; but he was afraid of the people, seeing that they regarded him as a prophet.
[6]ButG1161 when Herod'sG2264 birthdayG1077 was keptG71[G5746], the daughterG2364 of HerodiasG2266 dancedG3738[G5662] before themG1722[G3319], andG2532 pleasedG700[G5656] HerodG2264. [6]But when Herod's birthday festival occurred, the daughter of Herodias danced before the guests; and she pleased Herod.
[7]WhereuponG3606 he promisedG3670[G5656] withG3326 an oathG3727 to giveG1325[G5629] herG846 whatsoeverG3739[G1437] she would askG154.[G5672] [7]Therefore he swore to her by an oath, that he would give her whatsoever she might ask.
[8]AndG1161 she, being before instructedG4264[G5685] ofG5259 herG846 motherG3384, saidG5346[G5748], GiveG1325[G5628] meG3427 hereG5602 JohnG2491 Baptist'sG910 headG2776 inG1909 a chargerG4094. [8]And she, as she had been instructed by her mother, said: Give me here in a dish the head of John the Baptizer.
[9]AndG2532 the kingG935 was sorryG3076[G5681]: nevertheless forG1161[G1223] the oath's sakeG3727, andG2532 them which sat with him at meatG4873[G5740], he commandedG2753[G5656] it to be givenG1325 herG5683. [9]And it troubled the king: nevertheless, on account of the oath, and the guests, he commanded that it should be given her.
[10]AndG2532 he sentG3992[G5660], and beheadedG607[G5656] JohnG2491 inG1722 the prisonG5438. [10]And he sent and cut off the head of John in the prison.
[11]AndG2532 hisG846 headG2776 was broughtG5342[G5681] inG1909 a chargerG4094, andG2532 givenG1325[G5681] to the damselG2877: andG2532 she broughtG5342[G5656] it to herG846 motherG3384. [11]And the head was brought in a dish and given to the girl; and she brought it to her mother.
[12]AndG2532 hisG846 disciplesG3101 cameG4334[G5631], and took upG142[G5656] the bodyG4983, andG2532 buriedG2290[G5656] itG846, andG2532 wentG2064[G5631] and toldG518[G5656] JesusG2424. [12]And his disciples came and bore away the corpse, and buried [it]; and they went and informed Jesus.
[13]WhenG2532 JesusG2424 heardG191[G5660] of it, he departedG402[G5656] thenceG1564 byG1722 shipG4143 intoG1519 a desertG2048 placeG5117 apartG2596[G2398]: andG2532 when the peopleG3793 had heardG191[G5660] thereof, they followedG190[G5656] himG846 on footG3979 out ofG575 the citiesG4172. [13]And Jesus, when he had heard [it], retired alone, in a ship, to a desert place. And when the multitudes heard [of it], they followed him by dry land from the cities.
[14]AndG2532 JesusG2424 went forthG1831[G5631], and sawG1492[G5627] a greatG4183 multitudeG3793, andG2532 was moved with compassionG4697[G5675] towardG1909 themG846, andG2532 he healedG2323[G5656] theirG846 sickG732. [14]And when Jesus disembarked, he saw great multitudes; and he had compassion on them, and healed their sick.
[15]AndG1161 when it wasG1096[G5637] eveningG3798, hisG846 disciplesG3101 cameG4334[G5656] to himG846, sayingG3004[G5723], This isG2076[G5748] a desertG2048 placeG5117, andG2532 the timeG5610 is nowG2235 pastG3928[G5627]; sendG630 the multitudeG3793 awayG630[G5657], thatG2443 they may goG565[G5631] intoG1519 the villagesG2968, and buyG59[G5661] themselvesG1438 victualsG1033. [15]And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, and said to him: This is a desert place, and the time is gone; send away the throngs of people, that they may go to the villages, and buy themselves food.
[16]ButG1161 JesusG2424 saidG2036[G5627] unto themG846, They needG5532 notG3756 departG565[G5629][G2192][G5719]; giveG1325[G5628] yeG5210 themG846 to eatG5315.[G5629] [16]But he said to them: It is not necessary for them to go; give ye them to eat.
[17]AndG1161 they sayG3004[G5719] unto himG846, We haveG2192[G5719] hereG5602 butG3756[G1508] fiveG4002 loavesG740, andG2532 twoG1417 fishesG2486. [17]And they said to him: We have nothing here but five cakes and two fishes.
[18][G1161]He saidG2036[G5627], BringG5342[G5720] themG846 hitherG5602 to meG3427. [18]Jesus said to them: Bring them here to me.
[19]AndG2532 he commandedG2753[G5660] the multitudeG3793 to sit downG347[G5683] onG1909 the grassG5528, andG2532 tookG2983[G5631] the fiveG4002 loavesG740, andG2532 the twoG1417 fishesG2486, and looking upG308[G5660] toG1519 heavenG3772, he blessedG2127[G5656], andG2532 brakeG2806[G5660], and gaveG1325[G5656] the loavesG740 to his disciplesG3101, andG1161 the disciplesG3101 to the multitudeG3793. [19]And he commanded the multitudes to recline on the ground: and he took the five cakes and two fishes, and he looked towards heaven, and blessed, and brake, and gave to his disciples; and the disciples placed before the multitudes.
[20]AndG2532 they didG5315 allG3956 eatG5315[G5627], andG2532 were filledG5526[G5681]: andG2532 they took upG142[G5656] of the fragmentsG2801 that remainedG4052[G5723] twelveG1427 basketsG2894 fullG4134. [20]And they all ate, and were satisfied : and they took up the broken remains, twelve full baskets.
[21]AndG1161 they that had eatenG2068[G5723] wereG2258[G5713] aboutG5616 five thousandG4000 menG435, besideG5565 womenG1135 andG2532 childrenG3813. [21]And the men who had eaten were five thousand, besides the women and children.
[22]AndG2532 straightwayG2112 JesusG2424 constrainedG315[G5656] hisG846 disciplesG3101 to getG1684[G5629] intoG1519 a shipG4143, andG2532 to go beforeG4254[G5721] himG846 untoG1519 the other sideG4008, whileG2193[G3739] he sentG630 the multitudesG3793 awayG630.[G5661] [22]And immediately he constrained his disciples to embark in a ship, and to go before him to the other side, while he sent away the multitudes.
[23]AndG2532 when he had sentG630 the multitudesG3793 awayG630[G5660], he went upG305[G5627] intoG1519 a mountainG3735 apartG2596[G2398] to prayG4336[G5664]: andG1161 when the eveningG3798 was comeG1096[G5637], he wasG2258[G5713] thereG1563 aloneG3441. [23]And when he had sent the multitudes away, he ascended a mountain alone to pray. And when it was dark, he was there alone.
[24]ButG1161 the shipG4143 wasG2258[G5713] nowG2235 in the midstG3319 of the seaG2281, tossedG928[G5746] withG5259 wavesG2949: forG1063 the windG417 wasG2258[G5713] contraryG1727. [24]And the ship was distant from land many furlongs: meanwhile it was much tossed by the waves; for the wind was adverse to it.
[25]AndG1161 in the fourthG5067 watchG5438 of the nightG3571 JesusG2424 wentG565[G5627] untoG4314 themG846, walkingG4043[G5723] onG1909 the seaG2281. [25]And in the fourth watch of the night, Jesus came up to them, walking upon the waters.
[26]AndG2532 when the disciplesG3101 sawG1492[G5631] himG846 walkingG4043[G5723] onG1909 the seaG2281, they were troubledG5015[G5681], sayingG3004[G5723][G3754], It isG2076[G5748] a spiritG5326; andG2532 they cried outG2896[G5656] forG575 fearG5401. [26]And his disciples saw him as he walked upon the waters, and they were perturbated: and they said, What we see is a spectre: and they cried out through fear.
[27]ButG1161 straightwayG2112 JesusG2424 spakeG2980[G5656] unto themG846, sayingG3004[G5723], Be of good cheerG2293[G5720]; it isG1510[G5748] IG1473; beG5399 notG3361 afraidG5399.[G5737] [27]But Jesus immediately spoke to them, and said: Have courage: it is I; be not afraid.
[28]AndG1161 PeterG4074 answeredG611[G5679] himG846 and saidG2036[G5627], LordG2962, ifG1487 it beG1488[G5748] thouG4771, bidG2753[G5657] meG3165 comeG2064[G5629] untoG4314 theeG4571 onG1909 the waterG5204. [28]Cephas replied, and said to him: My Lord, if it be thou, bid me come to thee on the waters.
[29]AndG1161 he saidG2036[G5627], ComeG2064[G5628]. AndG2532 when PeterG4074 was come downG2597[G5631] out ofG575 the shipG4143, he walkedG4043[G5656] onG1909 the waterG5204, to goG2064[G5629] toG4314 JesusG2424. [29]And Jesus said to him, Come. And Cephas descended from the ship, and walked upon the waters to go to Jesus.
[30]ButG1161 when he sawG991[G5723] the windG417 boisterousG2478, he was afraidG5399[G5675]; andG2532 beginningG756[G5671] to sinkG2670[G5745], he criedG2896[G5656], sayingG3004[G5723], LordG2962, saveG4982[G5657] meG3165. [30]But when he saw the wind to be violent, he was afraid, and began to sink. And he raised his voice, and said : My Lord, rescue me.
[31]AndG1161 immediatelyG2112 JesusG2424 stretched forthG1614[G5660] his handG5495, and caughtG1949[G5633] himG846, andG2532 saidG3004[G5719] unto himG846, O thou of little faithG3640, whereforeG1519[G5101] didst thou doubtG1365?[G5656] [31]And immediately our Lord reached forth his hand, and caught him, and said to him: O small in faith, why didst thou distrust!
[32]AndG2532 when theyG846 were comeG1684[G5631] intoG1519 the shipG4143, the windG417 ceasedG2869.[G5656] [32]And as they entered the ship, the wind subsided.
[33]ThenG1161 they that were inG1722 the shipG4143 cameG2064[G5631] and worshippedG4352[G5656] himG846, sayingG3004[G5723], Of a truthG230 thou artG1488[G5748] the SonG5207 of GodG2316. [33]And they that were in the ship, came and worshipped him, and said: Truly thou art the Son of God !
[34]AndG2532 when they were gone overG1276[G5660], they cameG2064[G5627] intoG1519 the landG1093 of GennesaretG1082. [34]And they rowed on, and came to the land of Gennesaret.
[35]AndG2532 when the menG435 of thatG1565 placeG5117 had knowledgeG1921[G5631] of himG846, they sent outG649[G5656] intoG1519 allG3650 thatG1565 country round aboutG4066, andG2532 broughtG4374[G5656] unto himG846 allG3956 that wereG2192[G5723] diseasedG2560; [35]And the men of that place knew him: and they sent to all the villages around them; and they brought to him all that were very sick;
[36]AndG2532 besoughtG3870[G5707] himG846 thatG2443 they mightG680 onlyG3440 touchG680[G5672] the hemG2899 of hisG846 garmentG2440: andG2532 as many asG3745 touchedG680[G5662] were made perfectly wholeG1295.[G5681] [36]and they entreated of him, that they might touch at least the extremity of his garment. And they who touched, were healed.
