| [1]THEN came to Jeshu Pharishee and Sophree,ⓘ who were from Urishlem, saying, |
[1]הידינ קרבו לות ישׁוע פרישׁא וספרא דמנ אורשׁלמ ואמרינ |
| [2]Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders, and wash not their hands when they eat bread? |
[2]למנא תלמידיכ עברינ על משׁלמנותא דקשׁישׁא ולא משׁיגינ אידיהונ מא דאכלינ לחמא |
| [3]Jeshu answered, and said to them, Why also do ye transgress the commandment of Aloha for the sake of your tradition? |
[3]ענא ישׁוע ואמר להונ למנא אפ אנתונ עברינ אנתונ על פוקדנא דאלהא מטל משׁלמנותכונ |
| [4]For Aloha hath said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and whoso curseth his father or his mother, to die he shall die: |
[4]אלהא גיר אמר יקר לאבוכ ולאמכ ומנ דמצחא לאבוהי ולאמה ממת נמות |
| [5]But ye say, Every one who shall say to a father, or to a mother, (It is) my oblation whatever thou wouldst be profited by me, and shall not honour his father or his mother [shall be guiltless]. |
[5]אנתונ דינ אמרינ אנתונ כל מנ דנאמר לאבא או לאמא קורבני מדמ דתתהנא מני ולא ניקר לאבוהי או לאמה |
| [6]Thus you have abolished the word of Aloha for the sake of your tradition. |
[6]ובטלתונ מלתא דאלהא מטל משׁלמנותא דילכונ |
| [7]Ye hypocrites! rightly prophesied concerning you Eshaia the prophet, and said, |
[7]נסבי באפא שׁפיר אתנבי עליכונ אשׁעיא ואמר |
| [8]This people with the lips honour me, but their heart [is] very far from me. |
[8]עמא הנא בספותה הו מיקר לי לבהונ דינ סגי רחיק מני |
| [9]But in vain they reverence me, while they teach the doctrines of the commandments of men.ⓘ |
[9]וסריקאית דחלינ לי כד מלפינ יולפנא דפוקדנא דבנינשׁא |
| [10]And he called to the multitudes, and said to them, Hear, and understand: |
[10]וקרא לכנשׁא ואמר להונ שׁמעו ואסתכלו |
| [11]It is not that which, entering the mouth, contaminates a man; but that which shall come from the mouth, that contaminates a man. |
[11]לא הוא מדמ דעאל לפומא מסיב לברנשׁא אלא מדמ דנפק מנ פומא הו הו מסיב לברנשׁא |
| [12]Then drew near his disciples, saying to him, Knowest thou that the Pharishee who heard this word were offended? |
[12]הידינ קרבו תלמידוהי ואמרינ לה ידע אנת דפרישׁא דשׁמעו מלתא הדא אתכשׁלו |
| [13]But he answered, and said to them, Every plantation which my Father who is in heaven hath not planted shall be rooted up. |
[13]הו דינ ענא ואמר להונ כל נצבתא אידא דלא נצבה אבי דבשׁמיא תתעקר |
| [14]Leave them: they are blind leaders of the blind; but if a blind man shall lead a blind man, both shall fall into the ditch. |
[14]שׁבוקו להונ סמיא אנונ נגודא דסמיא סמיא דינ לסמיא אנ נדבר תריהונ בגומצא נפלינ |
| [15]And Shemun Kipha answered and said, My Lord, expound to us this parable. |
[15]וענא שׁמעונ כאפא ואמר לה מרי פשׁק לנ מתלא הנא |
| [16]But he said to them, Do you also not yet understand? |
[16]הו דינ אמר להונ עדמא להשׁא אפ אנתונ לא מסתכלינ אנתונ |
| [17]Know you not that whatsoever entereth the mouth, goeth into the belly, and from thence in purification it is cast without? |
[17]לא ידעינ אנתונ דמדמ דעאל לפומא לכרסא הו אזל ומנ תמנ בתדכיתא משׁתדא לבר |
| [18]But whatsoever from the mouth shall come forth, from the heart cometh forth, and this [it is that] contaminates a child of man. |
[18]מדמ דינ דמנ פומא נפק מנ לבא נפק והויו מסיב לה לברנשׁא |
| [19]For from the heart proceed evil thoughts, adultery, murder, fornication, robbery, false witness, blasphemy. |
[19]מנ לבא הו גיר נפקנ מחשׁבתא בישׁתא גורא קטלא זניותא גנבותא סהדות שׁוקרא גודפא |
| [20]These are they which defile a man; but if any one eat when his hands are not washed, he is not defiled. |
[20]הלינ אנינ דמסיבנ לברנשׁא אנ אנשׁ דינ נלעס כד לא משׁגנ אידוהי לא מסתיב |
| [21]AND Jeshu went forth from thence, and came to the borders of Tsur and Tsaidon. |
[21]ונפק מנ תמנ ישׁוע ואתא לתחומא דצור ודצידנ |
| [22]And, beheld, a Canaanite woman from those coasts came forth crying, and saying, Have mercy upon me, my Lord, son of David! my daughter is grievously possessed with the demon! |
[22]והא אנתתא כנעניתא מנ תחומא הנונ נפקת כד קעיא ואמרא אתרחמ עלי מרי ברה דדויד ברתי בישׁאית מתדברא מנ שׁאדא |
| [23]But he did not return her an answer. And the disciples approached and requested from him, saying, Dismiss her, for she crieth after us. |
[23]הו דינ לא פניה פתגמא וקרבו תלמידוהי בעו מנה ואמרינ שׁריה דקעיא בתרנ |
| [24]But he answered and said to them, I am not sent but to the sheep which have wandered from the house of Israel. |
[24]הו דינ ענא ואמר להונ לא אשׁתדרת אלא לות ערבא דטעו מנ בית איסריל |
| [25]Then she came, worshipped him, and said, My Lord, help me! |
[25]הי דינ אתת סגדת לה ואמרת מרי עדריני |
| [26]Jeshu said to her, It is not proper to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs. |
[26]אמר לה לא שׁפיר למסב לחמא דבניא ולמרמיו לכלבא |
| [27]But she said, Even so, my Lord; yet the dogs eat from the crumbs that fall from the tables of their masters, and live. |
[27]הי דינ אמרת אינ מרי אפ כלבא אכלינ מנ פרתותא דנפלינ מנ פתורא דמריהונ וחאינ |
| [28]Then said Jeshu to her, O woman, great is thy faith! be it to thee as thou wilt! And healed was her daughter from that hour. |
[28]הידינ אמר לה ישׁוע או אנתתא רבא הי הימנותכי נהוא לכי איכ דצביא אנתי ואתאסית ברתה מנ הי שׁעתא |
| [29]And Jeshu passed from thence, and came near the sea of Galila; and he ascended the mountain and sat there. |
[29]ושׁני מנ תמנ ישׁוע ואתא על גנב ימא דגלילא וסלק לטורא ויתב תמנ |
| [30]And there drew near to him great gatherings [of people], and with them there were the lame, and the blind, and the dumb, and the mutilated, and many others; and they cast them at the feet of Jeshu, and he healed them. |
[30]וקרבו לותה כנשׁא סגיאא דאית הוו עמהונ חגירא וסמיא וחרשׁא ופשׁיגא ואחרנא סגיאא וארמיו אנונ לות רגלוהי דישׁוע ואסי אנונ |
| [31]So that those multitudes were astounded as they beheld the dumb speaking, and the mutilated made whole, and the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they glorified the Aloha of Isroel. |
[31]איכ דנתדמרונ כנשׁא הנונ דחזינ חרשׁא דממללינ ופשׁיגא דמתחלמינ וחגירא דמהלכינ וסמיא דחזינ ושׁבחו לאלהא דיסריל |
| [32]BUT Jeshu himself called his disciples, and said to them, I have pity for this multitude, who, behold, for three days have continued with me, but there is nothing for them to eat; and to send them away fasting, I am unwilling, lest they should faint in the way. |
[32]הו דינ ישׁוע קרא לתלמידוהי ואמר להונ מתרחמ אנא על כנשׁא הנא דהא תלתא יומינ קויו לותי ולית להונ מא דנאכלונ ודאשׁרא אנונ כד צימינ לא צבא אנא דלמא נעופונ באורחא |
| [33]The disciples say to him, Whence can we have bread in the wilderness, that we may satisfy this whole multitude? |
[33]אמרינ לה תלמידוהי אימכא לנ בחורבא לחמא דנסבע כנשׁא הנא כלה |
| [34]Jeshu saith to them, How many loaves have you? They say to him, Seven, and a few small fishes. |
[34]אמר להונ ישׁוע כמא לחמינ אית לכונ אמרינ לה שׁבעא וקליל נונא דקדקא |
| [35]And he directed that the multitudes should recline upon the ground. |
[35]ופקד לכנשׁא דנסתמכונ על ארעא |
| [36]And he took those seven loaves and the fishes, and offered praise, and brake, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples gave to the multitudes; |
[36]ושׁקל להלינ שׁבעא לחמינ ולנונא ושׁבח וקצא ויהב לתלמידוהי ותלמידא יהבו לכנשׁא |
| [37]And they all did eat and were satisfied: and they took up of the abundance of fragments seven baskets full. |
[37]ואכלו כלהונ וסבעו ושׁקלו תותרא דקציא מלא שׁבעא אספרידינ |
| [38]And they who had eaten, were four thousand men, besides women and children. |
[38]הנונ דינ דאכלו הוינ הוו ארבעא אלפינ גברא סטר מנ נשׁא וטליא |
| [39]And when he had dismissed the multitudes, he ascended into a ship, and came to the coasts of Magodu. |
[39]וכד שׁרא לכנשׁא סלק לאלפא ואתא לתחומא דמגדו |
