| [1]And after six days, Jeshu took Kipha, and Jakub, and Juchanon his brother, and led them to a high mountain by themselves. |
[1]ובתר שׁתא יומינ דבר ישׁוע לכאפא וליעקוב וליוחננ אחוהי ואסק אנונ לטורא רמא בלחודיהונ |
| [2]And Jeshu was changed before them; and his countenance shone like the sun, and his vestments were resplendent as the light. |
[2]ואשׁתחלפ ישׁוע קדמיהונ ונהר פרצופה איכ שׁמשׁא נחתוהי דינ חורו איכ נוהרא |
| [3]And there were seen with them Musha and Elia talking with him. |
[3]ואתחזיו להונ מושׁא ואליא כד ממללינ עמה |
| [4]Then answered Kipha, and said to Jeshu, My Lord, it is good for us to be here; and if thou art willing, we will make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Musha, and one for Elia. |
[4]ענא דינ כאפא ואמר לישׁוע מרי שׁפיר הו לנ דתננ נהוא ואנ צבא אנת דנעבד תלת מטלינ חדא לכ וחדא למושׁא וחדא לאליא |
| [5]But while he spake, behold, a bright cloud overspread them, and the voice was from the cloud, saying, This is my Son, the Beloved, in whom I have delighted: to him attend. |
[5]ועד הו ממלל הא עננא נהירתא אטלת עליהונ וקלא הוא מנ עננא דאמר הנו ברי חביבא דבה אצטבית לה שׁמעו |
| [6]And when the disciples heard, they fell upon their faces and feared greatly. |
[6]וכד שׁמעו תלמידא נפלו על אפיהונ ודחלו טב |
| [7]And Jeshu approached them and touched them, and said, Arise, fear not. |
[7]ואתקרב לותהונ ישׁוע וקרב להונ ישׁוע ואמר קומו לא תדחלונ |
| [8]And they lifted up their eyes and saw no man, except Jeshu by himself. |
[8]וארימו עיניהונ ולאנשׁ לא חזו אלא לישׁוע בלחודוהי |
| [9]And while they were descending from the mountain, Jeshu charged them, and said to them, Before no man declare this vision,ⓘ until the Son of man be risen from the dead.ⓘ |
[9]וכד נחתינ מנ טורא פקד אנונ ישׁוע ואמר להונ לעינ אנשׁ לא תאמרונ חזוא הנא עדמא דנקומ ברה דאנשׁא מנ מיתא |
| [10]And the disciples asked and said to him, Why therefore say the scribes that Elia must come first? |
[10]ושׁאלוהי תלמידוהי ואמרינ לה מנא הכיל ספרא אמרינ דאליא ולא דנאתא לוקדמ |
| [11]Jeshu answered and said to them, Elia cometh first that he may fulfil every thing; |
[11]וענא ישׁוע ואמר להונ אתא לוקדמ דכל מדמ נשׁלמ |
| [12]But I say to you, that, behold, Elia hath come, but they knew him not, and have done to him as they would. So also is the Son of man to suffer from them. |
[12]אמרנא לכונ דינ דהא אליא אתא ולא ידעוהי ועבדו בה כלמא דצבו הכנא אפ ברה דאנשׁא עתיד דנחשׁ מנהונ |
| [13]Then understood the disciples that concerning Juchanon the Baptizer he spake to them. |
[13]הידינ אסתכלו תלמידא דעל יוחננ מעמדנא אמר להונ |
| [14]AND when they came to the multitude, a man approached him and kneeled upon his knees, |
[14]וכד אתו לות כנשׁא קרבו לה גברא וברכ על בורכוהי |
| [15]And said to him, My Lord, have mercy on me! my son is lunatic and grievously afflicted; for often he falleth into the fire and often into the water. |
[15]ואמר לה מרי אתרחמעלי ברי אית לה בר אגרא ובישׁאית עביד כמא גיר זבנינ בנורא נפל וכמא במיא |
| [16]And I brought him to thy disciples, but they could not heal him. |
[16]וקרבתה לתלמידיכ ולא אשׁכחו למאסיותה |
| [17]Jeshu answered and said, O unbelieving and perverse generation! how long shall I be with you, how long shall I bear with you? Bring him hither to me. |
[17]ענא ישׁוע ואמר אונ שׁרבתא דלא מהימנא ומעקלתא עדמא לאמתי אהוא עמכונ ועדמא לאמתי אסיברכונ איתיהי לי לכא |
| [18]And Jeshu rebuked him, and the demon went forth from him, and the youth was healed from that hour. |
[18]וכאא בה ישׁוע ונפק מנה שׁאדא ואתאסי טליא מנ הי שׁעתא |
| [19]Then came the disciples to Jeshu by himself, and said to him, Why were we not able to heal him? |
[19]הידינ קרבו תלמידא לות ישׁוע בלחודוהי ואמרו לה למנא חננ לא אשׁכחנ למאסיותה |
| [20]Jeshu saith to them, Because of your unbelief; for assuredly I tell you, if there were in you faith as a grain of mustard, you should say to this mountain, Pass hence, and it would pass away; and nothing should overcome you. |
[20]אמר להונ ישׁוע מטל לא הימנותכונ אמינ גיר אמר אנא לכונ דאנ תהוא בכונ הימנותא איכ פרדתא דחרדלא תאמרונ לטורא הנא דשׁנא מכא ונשׁנא ומדמ לא נחסנכונ |
| [21]But this kind goeth not forth but by fasting and by prayer. |
[21]הנא דינ גנסא לא נפק אלא בצומא ובצלותא |
| [22]WHEN they had returned into Galila, Jeshu said to them, It is coming that the Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men, |
[22]כד מתהפכינ דינ בגלילא אמר להונ ישׁוע עתיד הו ברה דאנשׁא דנשׁתלמ באידי בנינשׁא |
| [23]And they shall kill him; and in the third day he shall arise. And it grieved them exceedingly. |
[23]ונקטלוניהי וליומא דתלתא נקומ וכרית להונ טב |
| [24]And when they came to Kapher-nachum, they who took the two zuzis, the head-silver, approached Kipha and said to him, Your master, doth he not give his two zuzeen?ⓘ |
[24]וכד אתו לכפרנחומ קרבו הנונ דנסבינ תרינ תרינ זוזינ דכספ רשׁא לות כאפא ואמרו לה רבכונ לא יהב תרינ זוזוהי |
| [25]He saith to them, Yes. And when Kipha entered the house, Jeshu anticipated him, and said to him, How doth it appear to thee, Shemun? the kings of the earth, from whom do they take custom and headsilver, from their children, or from aliens? |
[25]אמר להונ אינ וכד על כאפא לביתא קדמה ישׁוע ואמר לה מנא מתחזא לכ שׁמעונ מלכיה דארעא מנ מנ נסבינ מכסא וכספ רשׁא מנ בניהונ או מנ נוכריא |
| [26]Shemun saith to him, From aliens: Jeshu saith to him, Then the children are free.ⓘ |
[26]אמר לה שׁמעונ מנ נוכריא אמר לה ישׁוע מדינ בני חארא אנונ בניא |
| [27]But that we may not offend them, go to the sea, and cast the hook; and the fish that first cometh up, open his mouth; and thou shalt find a stater, that take and present for me and thee. |
[27]דלא דינ נכשׁל אנונ זל לימא וארמא בלועא ונונא קדמיא דסלק פתח פומה ותשׁכח אסתירא הי סב והב חלפי וחלפיכ |
