[1]And Iesus aunswered, and spake vnto them againe by parables, and sayde |
[1]AND Jeshu answered again by comparisons, and said, |
[2]The kyngdome of heauen is lyke vnto a man that was a kyng, which made a mariage for his sonne |
[2]The kingdom of heaven resembles a royal person who made a feast to his son; |
[3]And sent foorth his seruauntes, to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they woulde not come |
[3]And he sent his servants to call the invited ones to the feast, but they were not willing to come. |
[4]Agayne, he sent foorth other seruauntes, saying: Tell them which are bidden, beholde, I haue prepared my dinner, my oxen and my fatlynges are kylled, and all thynges are redy: come vnto the mariage |
[4]And again he sent other servants, and said, Tell the invited ones, Behold, my dinner is prepared, my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready; come to the feast. |
[5]But they made lyght of it, and went their wayes, one to his farme, another to his marchaundize |
[5]But they despised [it], and went, one to his domain, and another to his business. |
[6]And the remnaunt toke his seruauntes, and entreated them spitefully, and slewe them |
[6]But the rest took his servants and shamefully treated and killed [them]. |
[7]But when the kyng hearde [therof], he was wroth, and sent foorth his men of warre, and destroyed those murtherers and brent vp their citie |
[7]But when the king heard, he was wroth; and sent his forces and destroyed those murderers, and burned their city. |
[8]Then sayde he to his seruauntes, the mariage in dede is prepared: But they which were bidden, were not worthy |
[8]Then said he to his servants, The feast is prepared, and those who were invited were not worthy. |
[9]Go ye therfore out into the hye wayes: and as many as ye fynde, bid [them] to the mariage |
[9]Go therefore into the outlets of the highways, and every one whom you find call to the feast. |
[10]And the seruauntes went out into the hye wayes, and gathered together all, as many as they coulde fynde, both good and bad: and the weddyng was furnished with ghestes |
[10]And those servants went forth into the highways, and assembled all whom they found, the bad and the good; and the place of feasting was filled with guests,ⓘ |
[11]Then the kyng came in, to see the ghestes: and whe he spyed there a man, which had not on a weddyng garmet |
[11]And the king entered to see the guests,ⓘ and he saw there a man who was not dressed in the garments of a festival. |
[12]He sayde vnto hym: frende, howe camest thou in hyther, not hauyng a weddyng garment? And he was euen speachlesse |
[12]And he said to him, My friend, how didst thou enter here, when thou hast not the vestments of the feast? But he was silent. |
[13]Then sayde the kyng to the ministers: bynde hym hande and foote, and cast hym into vtter darknesse: there shalbe wepyng and gnasshyng of teeth |
[13]Then said the king unto the servitors, Bind his hands and his feet, and cast him forth into the darknesses without: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. |
[14]For many be called, but fewe are chosen |
[14]For many are the called, but few the chosen. |
[15]Then went the Pharisees, and toke councell how they myght intangle hym in his talke |
[15]THEN went the Pharishee and took counsel how they might ensnare him in discourse. |
[16]And they sent out vnto hym their disciples, with the Herodians seruauntes, saying: Maister, we knowe that thou art true, and teachest the way of God truely, neither carest thou for any man: for thou doest not respect mens persons |
[16]And they sent to him their disciples with [certain] of the household of Herodes, saying to him, Doctor, we know that thou art resolutely true, and [that] the way of Aloha in truth thou teachest; neither carriest thou fear for man, for thou acceptest not the person of men.ⓘ |
[17]Tell vs therfore, howe thynkest thou? Is it lawfull that tribute be geuen vnto Caesar, or not |
[17]Tell us then, how doth it appear to thee? is it lawful to give head-moneyⓘ unto Cesar or not? |
[18]But Iesus perceauyng their wickednesse, sayde: Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites |
[18]But Jeshu knew their malice, and said, Why do you tempt me, you hypocrites? |
[19]Shewe me the tribute money. And they brought vnto hym a peny |
[19]Show me the denarius of the head-silver. And they presented to him a denarius. |
[20]And he sayde to them: whose is this image and superscription |
[20]And Jeshu said to them, Whose are this image and inscription? |
[21]They say vnto hym, Caesars. Then sayde he vnto them: Geue therfore vnto Caesar, the [thynges] which are Caesars: and vnto God, those [thynges] that are gods |
[21]They say, Cesar's. He saith to them, Give then [the things] of Cesar unto Cesar, and [the things] of Aloha unto Aloha. |
[22]When they had hearde [these wordes] they marueyled, and left hym, and went their way |
[22]And when they heard, they wondered, and left him, and went. |
[23]The same day came to hym the Saducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked hym |
[23]IN that [same] day came the Zadukoyee, affirming to him, [that] there is no life for the dead. And they questioned him, |
[24]Saying: Maister, Moyses sayde, that if a man dye, hauing no childre, his brother shoulde mary his wyfe, and rayse vp seede vnto his brother |
[24]Saying to him, Doctor, Musha has said to us that if a man die having no children, his brother shall take his wife and raise up seed unto his brother. |
[25]Ther were with vs seuen brethren, and the first maryed a wyfe, and deceassed without issue, and left his wyfe vnto his brother |
[25]But there were with us seven brethren: the eldest [of whom] took a wife, and died. And because he had no children, he left his wife unto his brother. |
[26]Likewyse, the seconde, and the thirde, vnto the seuenth |
[26]So also did he who was second, and he who was the third, and unto the seventh of them. |
[27]Last of all, the woman dyed also |
[27]But the last of all the woman also is dead. |
[28]Therfore, in the resurrection, whose wyfe shall she be of the seuen? For they all had her |
[28]In the resurrection, therefore, of whom from these seven shall she be the wife? for all had taken her. |
[29]Iesus aunswered & sayde vnto them: ye do erre, not knowyng the Scriptures, nor the power of God |
[29]Jeshu answered and said to them, You do err, because you understand not the scriptures nor the power of Aloha. |
[30]For in the resurrection, they neither mary, nor are geuen in maryage: but are as the Angels of God in heauen |
[30]For in the resurrection of the dead, they take not wives, neither are wives [united] to husbands; but as the angels of Aloha in heaven are they. |
[31]But as touchyng the resurrection of the dead: haue ye not read that which is spoken vnto you of God, which sayth |
[31]But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read that which has been spoken to you by Aloha, who said, |
[32]I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Iacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the lyuyng |
[32]I am the God of Abraham, the God of Is'hok, the God of Jakub? But Aloha is not of those who are dead, but of those who are alive. |
[33]And when the multitudes hearde this, they were astonyed at his doctrine |
[33]And when the multitudes heard, they were wonder-struck at his doctrine. |
[34]But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Saducees to silence, they came together |
[34]BUT when the Pharishee heard that he had silenced the Zadukoyee, they gathered together. |
[35]And one of them, which was a lawyer, asked hym a question, temptyng hym, and saying |
[35]And one from them, who was skilful in the law, questioned him, tempting him, |
[36]Maister, which is the great commaundent in the lawe |
[36]Doctor, which commandment is greatest in the law? |
[37]Iesus sayde vnto hym: Thou shalt loue the Lorde thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soule, and with all thy mynde |
[37]Jeshu said to him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy Aloha withⓘ all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind. |
[38]This is the first and great commaundement |
[38]This is the commandment, the great and the first. |
[39]And the seconde is lyke vnto this. Thou shalt loue thy neyghbour as thy selfe |
[39]And the second is like unto it, That thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. |
[40]In these two commaundementes, hang all the lawe and the prophetes |
[40]On these two commandments hang the law and the prophets. |
[41]Whyle the Pharisees were gathered together, Iesus asked them |
[41]While the Pharishee were gathered together, Jeshu questioned them, |
[42]Saying: what thynke ye of Christe? whose sonne is he? They sayde vnto hym [the sonne] of Dauid |
[42]And said, What say you concerning the Meshicha,—whose son [is he]? They say to him, Son of David. |
[43]He sayde vnto them: howe then doth Dauid in spirite call him Lorde, saying |
[43]Saith he to them, And how doth David in spirit call him THE LORD? For he said, that |
[44]The Lorde sayd vnto my Lorde: sit thou on my ryght hande, tyll I make thyne enemyes thy footestoole |
[44]The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand until I put thine adversaries beneath thy feet. |
[45]If Dauid then call him Lorde, howe is he then his sonne |
[45]If, then, David calleth him the Lord, how is he his son? |
[46]And no man was able to aunswere hym a worde: neither durst any man (from that day foorth) aske hym any mo questions |
[46]And no man could give to him the answer; nor did any man dare again from that day to question him. |
