| [1]Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples, |
[1]הידינ ישׁוע מלל עמ כנשׁא ועמ תלמידוהי |
| [2]Saying, The Scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses seat. |
[2]ואמר להונ על כורסיא דמושׁא יתבו ספרא ופרישׁא |
| [3]All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do: but after their works do not: for they say, and do not. |
[3]כל מדמ הכיל דנאמרונ לכונ דתטרונ טרו ועבדו איכ עבדיהונ דינ לא תעבדונ אמרינ גיר ולא עבדינ |
| [4]For they bind heavy burdens, and grievous to be born, and lay them on mens shoulders, but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. |
[4]ואסרינ מובלא יקירתא וסימינ על כתפתא דבנינשׁא הנונ דינ בצבעהונ לא צבינ דנקרבונ להינ |
| [5]All their works they do for to be seen of men: for they make their phylacteries broad, and make long the fringes of their garments, |
[5]וכלהונ עבדיהונ עבדינ דנתחזונ לבנינשׁא מפתינ גיר תפליהונ ומורכינ תכלתא דמרטוטיהונ |
| [6]And love the chief place at feasts, and to have the chief seats in the assemblies, |
[6]ורחמינ רשׁ סמכא בחשׁמיתא ורשׁ מותבא בכנושׁתא |
| [7]And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi. |
[7]ושׁלמא בשׁוקא ודנהוונ מתקרינ מנ אנשׁ רבי |
| [8]But be not ye called, Rabbi: for one is your doctor, to wit, Christ, and all ye are brethren. |
[8]אנתונ דינ לא תתקרונ רבי חד הו גיר רבכונ אנתונ דינ כלכונ אחא אנתונ |
| [9]And call no man your father upon the earth: for there is but one, your Father which is in heaven. |
[9]ואבא לא תתקרונ לכונ בארעא חד הו גיר אבוכונ דבשׁמיא |
| [10]Be not called doctors: for one is your doctor, even Christ. |
[10]ולא תתקרונ מדברנא מטל דחד הו מדברנכונ משׁיחא |
| [11]But he that is greatest among you, let him be your servant. |
[11]הו דינ דרבכונ נהוא לכונ משׁמשׁנא |
| [12]For whosoever will exalt himself, shall be brought low: and whosoever will humble himself, shall be exalted. |
[12]מנ גיר דנרימ נפשׁה נתמככ ומנ דנמכ נפשׁה נתתרימ |
| [13]Woe therefore be unto you Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because ye shut up the kingdom of heaven before men: for ye yourselves go not in, neither suffer ye them that would enter, to come in. |
[13]וי לכונ ספרא ופרישׁא נסבי באפא דאכלינ אנתונ בתא דארמלתא בעלתא דמורכינ אנתונ צלותכונ מטל הנא תקבלונ דינא יתירא |
| [14]Woe be unto you Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites: for ye devour widow's houses, even under a color of long prayers: wherefore ye shall receive the greater damnation. |
[14]וי לכונ ספרא ופרישׁא נסבי באפא דאחידינ אנתונ מלכותא דשׁמיא קדמ בנינשׁא אנתונ גיר לא עאלינ אנתונ ולאילינ דעאלינ לא שׁבקינ אנתונ למעל |
| [15]Woe be unto you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites: for ye compass sea and land to make one of your profession: and when he is made, ye make him two fold more the child of hell, than you yourselves. |
[15]וי לכונ ספרא ופרישׁא נסבי באפא דמתכרכינ אנתונ ימא ויבשׁא דתעבדונ חד גיורא ומא דהוא עבדינ אנתונ לה ברה דגהנא אעפא עליכונ |
| [16]Woe be unto you blind guides, which say, Whosoever sweareth by the Temple, it is nothing: but whosoever sweareth by the gold of the Temple, he offendeth. |
[16]וי לכונ נגודא סמיא דאמרינ אנתונ דמנ דימא בהיכלא לא הוא מדמ מנ דינ דימא בדהבא דבהיכלא חאב |
| [17]Ye fools and blind, whether is greater, the gold, or the Temple that sanctifieth the gold? |
[17]סכלא וסמיא מנא גיר רב דהבא או היכלא דהו מקדשׁ לה לדהבא |
| [18]And whosoever sweareth by the altar, it is nothing: but whosoever sweareth by the offering that is upon it, offendeth. |
[18]ומנ דימא במדבחא לא הוא מדמ מנ דינ דימא בקורבנא דלעל מנה חאב |
| [19]Ye fools and blind, whether is greater, the offering, or the altar which sanctifieth the offering? |
[19]סכלא ועוירא מנא רב קורבנא או מדבחא דמקדשׁ לקורבנא |
| [20]Whosoever therefore sweareth by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon. |
[20]מנ דימא הכיל במדבחא ימא בה ובכל מא דאית לעל מנה |
| [21]And whosoever sweareth by the Temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein. |
[21]ומנ דימא בהיכלא ימא בה ובמנ דעמר בה |
| [22]And he that sweareth by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon. |
[22]ומנ דימא בשׁמיא ימא בכורסיה דאלהא ובמנ דיתב לעל מנה |
| [23]Woe be to you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites: for ye tithe mint, and anise, and cumin, and leave the weightier matters of the law, as judgment, and mercy, and fidelity. These ought ye to have done, and not to have left the other. |
[23]וי לכונ ספרא ופרישׁא נסבי באפא דמעסרינ אנתונ ננעא ושׁבתא וכמונא ושׁבקתונ יקירתה דנמוסא דינא וחננא והימנותא הלינ דינ ולא הוא דתעבדונ והלינ לא תשׁבקונ |
| [24]Ye blind guides, which strain out a gnat, and swallow a camel. |
[24]נגודא סמיא דמצללינ בקא ובלעינ גמלא |
| [25]Woe be to you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites: for ye make clean the utter side of the cup, and of the platter: but within they are full of bribery and excess. |
[25]וי לכונ ספרא ופרישׁא נסבי באפא דמדכינ אנתונ ברה דכסא ודזבורא לגו דינ מלינ חטופיא ועולא |
| [26]Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first the inside of the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also. |
[26]פרישׁא עוירא דכו לוקדמ גוה דכסא ודזבורא דהוא אפ ברהונ דכא |
| [27]Woe be to you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites: for ye are like unto whited tombs, which appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead mens bones, and of all filthiness. |
[27]וי לכונ ספרא ופרישׁא נסבי באפא דדמינ אנתונ לקברא מכלשׁא דמנ לבר מתחזינ שׁפירא מנ לגו דינ מלינ גרמא דמיתא וכלה טנפותא |
| [28]So are ye also: for outward ye appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity. |
[28]הכנא אפ אנתונ מנ לבר מתחזינ אנתונ לבנינשׁא איכ זדיקא ומנ לגו מלינ אנתונ עולא ומסב באפא |
| [29]Woe be unto you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites: for ye build the tombs of the Prophets, and garnish the sepulchers of the righteous, |
[29]וי לכונ ספרא ופרישׁא נסבי באפא דבנינ אנתונ קברא דנביא ומצבתינ אנתונ בית קבורא דזדיקא |
| [30]And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partners with them in the blood of the Prophets. |
[30]ואמרינ אנתונ דאלו הוינ ביומי אבהינ לא הוינ הוינ להונ שׁותפא בדמא דנביא |
| [31]So then ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them that murdered the Prophets. |
[31]מדינ מסהדינ אנתונ על נפשׁכונ דבניא אנתונ דהנונ דקטלו לנביא |
| [32]Fulfill ye also the measure of your fathers. |
[32]ואפ אנתונ מלו משׁוחתא דאבהיכונ |
| [33]O serpents, the generation of vipers, how should ye escape the damnation of hell! |
[33]חוותא ילדא דאכדנא איכנא תערקונ מנ דינא דגהנא |
| [34]Wherefore behold, I send unto you Prophets, and wise men, and Scribes, and of them ye shall kill and crucify: and of them shall ye scourge in your Synagogues, and persecute from city to city, |
[34]מטל הנא הא אנא משׁדר אנא לותכונ נביא וחכימא וספרא מנהונ קטלינ אנתונ וזקפינ אנתונ ומנהונ מנגדינ אנתונ בכנושׁתכונ ותרדפונ אנונ מנ מדינא למדינא |
| [35]That upon you may come all the righteous blood that was shed upon the earth, from the blood of Abel the righteous, unto the blood of Zecharias the son of Berachias, whom ye slew between the Temple and the altar. |
[35]איכנא דנאתא עליכונ כלה דמא דזדיקא דאתאשׁד על ארעא מנ דמה דהביל זדיקא ועדמא לדמה דזכריא בר ברכיא הו דקטלתונ ביני היכלא למדבחא |
| [36]Verily I say unto you, all these things shall come upon this generation. |
[36]אמינ אמר אנא לכונ דנאתינ הלינ כלהינ על שׁרבתא הדא |
| [37]Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the Prophets, and stonest them which are sent to thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, as the hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! |
[37]אורשׁלמ אורשׁלמ קטלת נביא ורגמת לאילינ דשׁליחינ לותה ומא זבנינ צבית דאכנשׁ בניכי איכ דכנשׁא תרנגולתא פרוגיה תחית גפיה ולא צביתונ |
| [38]Behold, your habitation shall be left unto you desolate, |
[38]הא משׁתבק לכונ ביתכונ חרבא |
| [39]For I say unto you, ye shall not see me henceforth till that ye say, Blessed is he that cometh in the Name of the Lord. |
[39]אמר אנא לכונ גיר דלא תחזונני מנ השׁא עדמא דתאמרונ בריכ הו דאתא בשׁמה דמריא |
