[1]But whanne Jhesus was come doun fro the hil, mych puple suede hym. |
[1]WHEN he had descended from the mountain, great multitudes clave to him. |
[2]And loo! a leprouse man cam, and worschipide hym, and seide, Lord, if thou wolt, thou maist make me clene. |
[2]And, behold, a certain leper came [and] worshipped him, and said, My Lord, if thou art willing, thou canst cleanse me. |
[3]And Jhesus helde forth the hoond, and touchide hym, and seide, Y wole, be thou maad cleene. And anoon the lepre of him was clensid. |
[3]And Jeshu extended his hand, and touched him, and said, I am willing: be clean; and in that very hour his leprosy was cleansed. |
[4]And Jhesus seide to hym, Se, seie thou to no man; but go, shewe thee to the prestis, and offre the yift that Moyses comaundide, in witnessyng to hem. |
[4]And Jeshu said to him, See that thou tell no man, but go, show thyself to the priests, and offer the oblation that Musha required for their testimony. |
[5]And whanne he hadde entrid in to Cafarnaum, `the centurien neiyede to him, and preiede him, |
[5]Then when Jeshu had entered into Kapharnachum, a certain centurion approached him, and besought of him, |
[6]and seide, Lord, my childe lijth in the hous sijk on the palesie, and is yuel turmentid. |
[6]Saying, My Lord, my child is lying in the house, paralysed and grievously tormented. |
[7]And Jhesus seide to him, Y schal come, and schal heele him. |
[7]Jeshu saith to him, I will come and heal him. |
[8]And the centurien answeride, and seide to hym, Lord, Y am not worthi, that thou entre vndur my roof; but oonli seie thou bi word, and my childe shal be heelid. |
[8]The centurion answered and saith, My Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldst come beneath my roof;ⓘ only speak in a word, and my child shall be healed. |
[9]For whi Y am a man ordeyned vndur power, and haue knyytis vndir me; and Y seie to this, Go, and he goith; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my seruaunt, Do this, and he doith it. |
[9]For I also am a man under authority, and under my hand there are soldiers. I say to this one, Go, and he goeth; and to the other, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth. |
[10]And Jhesus herde these thingis, and wondride, and seide to men `that sueden him, Treuli Y seie to you, Y foond not so greet feith in Israel. |
[10]When Jeshu heard this, he was moved with admiration, and said to those with him, Truly I say to you, that in Isroel I have not found faith like this. |
[11]And Y seie to you, that many schulen come fro the eest and the west, and schulen reste with Abraham and Ysaac and Jacob in the kyngdom of heuenes; |
[11]But I tell you, That many shall come from the east, and from the west, and shall recline with Abraham, and Is'hok, and Jakub, in the kingdom of the heavens; |
[12]but the sones of the rewme schulen be cast out in to vtmer derknessis; there schal be wepyng, and grynting of teeth. |
[12]But the children of the kingdom shall go forth into outer darknesses; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. |
[13]And Jhesus seide to the centurioun, Go, and as thou hast bileuyd, be it doon to thee. And the child was heelid fro that hour. |
[13]And Jeshu said unto the centurion, Go; as thou hast believed, it shall be to thee. And his child was healed in that very hour. |
[14]And whanne Jhesus was comun in to the hous of Symount Petre, he say his wyues modir liggynge, and shakun with feueris. |
[14]AND Jeshu came to the house of Shemun, and saw his mother-in-law lying, a fever having seized her. |
[15]And he touchide hir hoond, and the feuer lefte hir; and she roos, and seruede hem. |
[15]And he touched her with his hand, and the fever left her; and she arose and ministered to them. |
[16]And whanne it was euen, thei brouyten to hym manye that hadden deuelis, and he castide out spiritis bi word, and heelide alle that weren yuel at ese; |
[16]And when it was evening, they brought before him many demoniacs, and he cast out their devils by a word; and all those who were heavily afflicted he healed. |
[17]that it were fulfillid, that was seid by Ysaie, the profete, seiynge, He took oure infirmytees, and bar oure siknessis. |
[17]So was fulfilled what had been spoken by the prophet Eshaia, who said, That he should take our griefs, and bear our infirmities. |
[18]And Jhesus say myche puple aboute him, and bade hise disciplis go ouer the watir. |
[18]Now when Jeshu saw the great multitudes which encompassed him, he commanded that they should go to the opposite shore. |
[19]And a scribe neiyede, and seide to hym, Maistir, Y shal sue thee, whidir euer thou schalt go. |
[19]And a certain scribe approached him, and said, Rabi, I will come after thee to the place whither thou goest. |
[20]And Jhesus seide to hym, Foxis han dennes, and briddis of heuene han nestis, but mannus sone hath not where `he schal reste his heed. |
[20]Jeshu saith to him, The foxes have their dens, and the fowls of heaven a bower, but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. |
[21]Anothir of his disciplis seide to him, Lord, suffre me to go first, and birie my fader. |
[21]And another from his disciples said to him, My Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father. |
[22]But Jhesus seide to hym, Sue thou me, and lete deed men birie her deede men. |
[22]But Jeshu said to him Come after me, and leave the dead ones burying their dead. |
[23]And whanne he was goon vp in to a litil schip, his disciplis sueden hym. |
[23]AND when Jeshu had ascended into the ship, his disciples ascended with him. |
[24]And loo! a greet stiring was maad in the see, so that the schip was hilid with wawes; but he slepte. |
[24]And, behold, a great commotion was made on the sea, insomuch that the vessel was covered by the waves; but Jeshu himself was asleep. |
[25]And hise disciplis camen to hym, and reysiden hym, and seiden, Lord, saue vs; we perischen. |
[25]And the disciples approached him, that they might awake him, saying to him, Our Lord, deliver us, we are perishing! |
[26]And Jhesus seide to hem, What ben ye of litil feith agaste? Thanne he roos, and comaundide to the wyndis and the see, and a greet pesibilnesse was maad. |
[26]And Jeshu said to them, Why are you fearful, you little in faith? Then he arose, and forbade the wind and the sea, and there was a great calm. |
[27]And men wondriden, and seiden, What maner man is he this, for the wyndis and the see obeischen to him? |
[27]But the men were struck with wonder, saying, What [being] is this, to whom the winds and the sea are obedient? |
[28]And whanne Jhesus was comun ouer the watir in to the cuntre of men of Gerasa, twey men metten hym, that hadden deuelis, and camen out of graues, ful woode, so that noo man myyte go bi that weie. |
[28]And when Jeshu came to the other side, to the region of the Godroyee, there met him two demoniacs, who came forth from the place of sepulchres, exceedingly malignant, insomuch that no man could pass by that way. |
[29]And lo! thei crieden, and seiden, What to vs and to thee, Jhesu, the sone of God? `art thou comun hidir bifore the tyme to turmente vs? |
[29]And they shouted, saying, What to us, and to thee, Jeshu, son of Aloha? Hast thou come hither before the time, to torment us? |
[30]And not fer fro hem was a flocke of many swyne lesewynge. |
[30]Now there was at a distance from them a herd of many swine feeding. |
[31]And the deuelis preyeden hym, and seiden, If thou castist out vs fro hennes, sende vs in to the droue of swyne. |
[31]Those demons, therefore, supplicated from him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go into the herd of swine. |
[32]And he seide to hem, Go ye. And thei yeden out, and wenten in to the swyne; and loo! in a greet bire al the droue wente heedlyng in to the see, and thei weren deed in the watris. |
[32]Jeshu saith to them, Go: and immediately they went forth, and entered into the swine; and the whole herd rushed directly over the rock, and, plunging into the sea, perished in the waters. |
[33]And the hirdis fledden awey, and camen in to the citee, and telden alle these thingis, and of hem that hadden the feendis. |
[33]And they who tended them, fled, and went into the city, and showed every thing that was done, and what concerned these demoniacs. |
[34]And lo! al the citee wente out ayens Jhesu; and whanne thei hadden seyn hym, thei preieden, that he wolde passe fro her coostis. |
[34]And the whole city came forth to meet Jeshu himself; and when they beheld him, they besought from him that he would remove from their coasts. |
