|
[1]And BalaamH1109 saidH559[H8799] unto BalakH1111, BuildH1129[H8798] me here sevenH7651 altarsH4196, and prepareH3559[H8685] me here sevenH7651 oxenH6499 and sevenH7651 ramsH352. |
[1]And Balaam saith unto Balak, `Build for me in this [place] seven altars, and make ready for me in this [place] seven bullocks and seven rams.' |
[2]And BalakH1111 didH6213[H8799] as BalaamH1109 had spokenH1696[H8765]; and BalakH1111 and BalaamH1109 offeredH5927[H8686] on every altarH4196 a bullockH6499 and a ramH352. |
[2]And Balak doth as Balaam hath spoken, and Balak -- Balaam also -- offereth a bullock and a ram on the altar, |
[3]And BalaamH1109 saidH559[H8799] unto BalakH1111, StandH3320[H8690] by thy burnt offeringH5930, and I will goH3212[H8799]: peradventure the LORDH3068 will comeH7136[H8735] to meetH7125[H8800] me: and whatsoeverH1697 he shewethH7200[H8686] me I will tellH5046[H8689] thee. And he wentH3212[H8799] to an high placeH8205. |
[3]and Balaam saith to Balak, `Station thyself by thy burnt-offering and I go on, it may be Jehovah doth come to meet me, and the thing which He sheweth me -- I have declared to thee;' and he goeth [to] a high place. |
[4]And GodH430 metH7136[H8735] BalaamH1109: and he saidH559[H8799] unto him, I have preparedH6186[H8804] sevenH7651 altarsH4196, and I have offeredH5927[H8686] upon every altarH4196 a bullockH6499 and a ramH352. |
[4]And God cometh unto Balaam, and he saith unto Him, `The seven altars I have arranged, and I offer a bullock and a ram on the altar;' |
[5]And the LORDH3068 putH7760[H8799] a wordH1697 in Balaam'sH1109 mouthH6310, and saidH559[H8799], ReturnH7725[H8798] unto BalakH1111, and thus thou shalt speakH1696.[H8762] |
[5]and Jehovah putteth a word in the mouth of Balaam, and saith, `Turn back unto Balak, and thus thou dost speak.' |
[6]And he returnedH7725[H8799] unto him, and, lo, he stoodH5324[H8737] by his burnt sacrificeH5930, he, and all the princesH8269 of MoabH4124. |
[6]And he turneth back unto him, and lo, he is standing by his burnt-offering, he and all the princes of Moab. |
[7]And he took upH5375[H8799] his parableH4912, and saidH559[H8799], BalakH1111 the kingH4428 of MoabH4124 hath broughtH5148[H8686] me from AramH758, out of the mountainsH2042 of the eastH6924, saying, ComeH3212[H8798], curseH779[H8798] me JacobH3290, and comeH3212[H8798], defyH2194[H8798] IsraelH3478. |
[7]And he taketh up his simile, and saith: `From Aram he doth lead me -- Balak king of Moab; From mountains of the east: Come -- curse for me Jacob, And come -- be indignant [with] Israel. |
[8]HowH4100 shall I curseH5344[H8799], whom GodH410 hath not cursedH6895[H8804]? or how shall I defyH2194[H8799], whom the LORDH3068 hath not defiedH2194?[H8804] |
[8]What -- do I pierce? -- God hath not pierced! And what -- am I indignant? -- Jehovah hath not been indignant! |
[9]For from the topH7218 of the rocksH6697 I seeH7200[H8799] him, and from the hillsH1389 I beholdH7789[H8799] him: lo, the peopleH5971 shall dwellH7931[H8799] aloneH910, and shall not be reckonedH2803[H8691] among the nationsH1471. |
[9]For from the top of rocks I see it, And from heights I behold it; Lo a people! alone it doth tabernacle, And among nations doth not reckon itself. |
[10]Who can countH4487[H8804] the dustH6083 of JacobH3290, and the numberH4557 of the fourthH7255 part of IsraelH3478? Let me dieH4191[H8799][H5315] the deathH4194 of the righteousH3477, and let my last end be like hisH319! |
[10]Who hath counted the dust of Jacob, And the number of the fourth of Israel? Let me die the death of upright ones, And let my last end be like his!' |
[11]And BalakH1111 saidH559[H8799] unto BalaamH1109, What hast thou doneH6213[H8804] unto me? I tookH3947[H8804] thee to curseH6895[H8800] mine enemiesH341[H8802], and, behold, thou hast blessedH1288[H8765] them altogetherH1288.[H8763] |
[11]And Balak saith unto Balaam, `What hast thou done to me? to pierce mine enemies I have taken thee -- and lo, thou hast certainly blessed;' |
[12]And he answeredH6030[H8799] and saidH559[H8799], Must I not take heedH8104[H8799] to speakH1696[H8763] that which the LORDH3068 hath putH7760[H8799] in my mouthH6310? |
[12]and he answereth and saith, `That which Jehovah doth put in my mouth -- it do I not take heed to speak?' |
[13]And BalakH1111 saidH559[H8799] unto him, ComeH3212[H8798], I pray thee, with me unto anotherH312 placeH4725, from whence thou mayest seeH7200[H8799] them: thou shalt seeH7200[H8799] butH657 the utmostH7097 part of them, and shalt not seeH7200[H8799] them all: and curseH6895 me them from thenceH8798. |
[13]And Balak saith unto him, `Come, I pray thee, with me unto another place, whence thou dost see it, only its extremity thou dost see, and all of it thou dost not see, and pierce it for me thence;' |
[14]And he broughtH3947[H8799] him into the fieldH7704 of ZophimH6839[H8677][H6822][H8802], to the topH7218 of PisgahH6449, and builtH1129[H8799] sevenH7651 altarsH4196, and offeredH5927[H8686] a bullockH6499 and a ramH352 on every altarH4196. |
[14]and he taketh him [to] the field of Zophim, unto the top of Pisgah, and buildeth seven altars, and offereth a bullock and a ram on the altar. |
[15]And he saidH559[H8799] unto BalakH1111, StandH3320[H8690] hereH3541 by thy burnt offeringH5930, while I meetH7136[H8735] the LORD yonderH3541. |
[15]And he saith unto Balak, `Station thyself here by thy burnt-offering, and I -- I meet [Him] there;' |
[16]And the LORDH3068 metH7136[H8735] BalaamH1109, and putH7760[H8799] a wordH1697 in his mouthH6310, and saidH559[H8799], Go againH7725[H8798] unto BalakH1111, and sayH1696 thusH8762. |
[16]and Jehovah cometh unto Balaam, and setteth a word in his mouth, and saith, `Turn back unto Balak, and thus thou dost speak.' |
[17]And when he cameH935[H8799] to him, behold, he stoodH5324[H8737] by his burnt offeringH5930, and the princesH8269 of MoabH4124 with him. And BalakH1111 saidH559[H8799] unto him, What hath the LORDH3068 spokenH1696?[H8765] |
[17]And he cometh unto him, and lo, he is standing by his burnt-offering, and the princes of Moab with him, and Balak saith to him: `What hath Jehovah spoken?' |
[18]And he took upH5375[H8799] his parableH4912, and saidH559[H8799], Rise upH6965[H8798], BalakH1111, and hearH8085[H8798]; hearkenH238[H8685] unto me, thou sonH1121 of ZipporH6834: |
[18]And he taketh up his simile, and saith: `Rise, Balak, and hear; Give ear unto me, son of Zippor! |
[19]GodH410 is not a manH376, that he should lieH3576[H8762]; neither the sonH1121 of manH120, that he should repentH5162[H8691]: hath he saidH559[H8804], and shall he not doH6213[H8799] it? or hath he spokenH1696[H8765], and shall he not make it goodH6965?[H8686] |
[19]God [is] not a man -- and lieth, And a son of man -- and repenteth! Hath He said -- and doth He not do [it]? And spoken -- and doth He not confirm it? |
[20]Behold, I have receivedH3947[H8804] commandment to blessH1288[H8763]: and he hath blessedH1288[H8765]; and I cannot reverseH7725 itH8686. |
[20]Lo, to bless I have received: Yea, He blesseth, and I [can]not reverse it. |
[21]He hath not beheldH5027[H8689] iniquityH205 in JacobH3290, neither hath he seenH7200[H8804] perversenessH5999 in IsraelH3478: the LORDH3068 his GodH430 is with him, and the shoutH8643 of a king is among themH4428. |
[21]He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, Nor hath He seen perverseness in Israel; Jehovah his God [is] with him, And a shout of a king [is] in him. |
[22]GodH410 brought them outH3318[H8688] of EgyptH4714; he hath as it were the strengthH8443 of an unicornH7214. |
[22]God is bringing them out from Egypt, As the swiftness of a Reem is to him; |
[23]Surely there is no enchantmentH5173 against JacobH3290, neither is there any divinationH7081 against IsraelH3478: according to this timeH6256 it shall be saidH559[H8735] of JacobH3290 and of IsraelH3478, What hath GodH410 H6466wroughtH8804 |
[23]For no enchantment [is] against Jacob, Nor divination against Israel, At the time it is said of Jacob and Israel, What hath God wrought! |
[24]Behold, the peopleH5971 shall rise upH6965[H8799] as a great lionH3833, and lift upH5375[H8691] himself as a young lionH738: he shall not lie downH7901[H8799] until he eatH398[H8799] of the preyH2964, and drinkH8354[H8799] the bloodH1818 of the slainH2491. |
[24]Lo, the people as a lioness riseth, And as a lion he lifteth himself up, He lieth not down till he eateth prey, And blood of pierced ones doth drink.' |
[25]And BalakH1111 saidH559[H8799] unto BalaamH1109, Neither curseH5344[H8799] them at allH6895[H8800], nor blessH1288[H8762] them at allH1288.[H8763] |
[25]And Balak saith unto Balaam, `Neither pierce it at all, nor bless it at all;' |
[26]But BalaamH1109 answeredH6030[H8799] and saidH559[H8799] unto BalakH1111, ToldH1696[H8765] not I thee, sayingH559[H8800], All that the LORDH3068 speakethH1696[H8762], that I must doH6213?[H8799] |
[26]and Balaam answereth and saith unto Balak, `Have I not spoken unto thee, saying, All that Jehovah speaketh -- it I do?' |
[27]And BalakH1111 saidH559[H8799] unto BalaamH1109, ComeH3212[H8798], I pray thee, I will bringH3947[H8799] thee unto anotherH312 placeH4725; peradventure it will pleaseH3474[H8799][H5869] GodH430 that thou mayest curseH6895 me them from thenceH8804. |
[27]And Balak saith unto Balaam, `Come, I pray thee, I take thee unto another place; it may be it is right in the eyes of God -- to pierce it for me from thence.' |
[28]And BalakH1111 broughtH3947[H8799] BalaamH1109 unto the topH7218 of PeorH6465, that lookethH8259[H8737] towardH6440 JeshimonH3452. |
[28]And Balak taketh Balaam to the top of Peor, which is looking on the front of the wilderness, |
[29]And BalaamH1109 saidH559[H8799] unto BalakH1111, BuildH1129[H8798] me here sevenH7651 altarsH4196, and prepareH3559[H8685] me here sevenH7651 bullocksH6499 and sevenH7651 ramsH352. |
[29]and Balaam saith unto Balak, `Build for me in this [place] seven altars, and make ready for me in this [place] seven bullocks and seven rams;' |
[30]And BalakH1111 didH6213[H8799] as BalaamH1109 had saidH559[H8804], and offeredH5927[H8686] a bullockH6499 and a ramH352 on every altarH4196. |
[30]and Balak doth as Balaam said, and he offereth a bullock and a ram on an altar. |
