[1]And when BalaamH1109 sawH7200[H8799] that it pleasedH5869[H2895][H8804] the LORDH3068 to blessH1288[H8763] IsraelH3478, he wentH1980[H8804] not, as at other timesH6471, to seekH7125[H8800] for enchantmentsH5173, but he setH7896[H8799] his faceH6440 toward the wildernessH4057. |
[1]When Balaam saw that it pleased the Lord, to bless Israel, then he went not, as certain times before, to set divinations, but set his face toward the wilderness. |
[2]And BalaamH1109 lifted upH5375[H8799] his eyesH5869, and he sawH7200[H8799] IsraelH3478 abidingH7931[H8802] in his tents according to their tribesH7626; and the spiritH7307 of God came upon himH430. |
[2]And Balaam lift up his eyes, and looked upon Israel, which dwelt according to their tribes, and the Spirit of God came upon him. |
[3]And he took upH5375[H8799] his parableH4912, and saidH559[H8799], BalaamH1109 the sonH1121 of BeorH1160 hath saidH5002[H8803], and the manH1397 whose eyesH5869 are openH8365[H8803] hath saidH5002:[H8803] |
[3]And he uttered his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man, whose eyes were shut up, hath said, |
[4]He hath saidH5002[H8803], which heardH8085[H8802] the wordsH561 of GodH410, which sawH2372[H8799] the visionH4236 of the AlmightyH7706, fallingH5307[H8802] into a trance, but having his eyesH5869 openH1540:[H8803] |
[4]He hath said, which heard the words of God, and saw the vision of the Almighty, and falling in a trance had his eyes opened: |
[5]How goodlyH2895[H8804] are thy tentsH168, O JacobH3290, and thy tabernaclesH4908, O IsraelH3478! |
[5]How goodly are thy tents, O Jacob, and thine habitations, O Israel! |
[6]As the valleysH5158 are they spread forthH5186[H8738], as gardensH1593 by the river's sideH5104, as the trees of lign aloesH174 which the LORDH3068 hath plantedH5193[H8804], and as cedar treesH730 beside the watersH4325. |
[6]As the valleys, are they stretched forth, as gardens by the river's side, as the aloe trees, which the Lord hath planted, as the cedars beside the waters. |
[7]He shall pourH5140 the waterH4325 outH5140[H8799] of his bucketsH1805, and his seedH2233 shall be in manyH7227 watersH4325, and his kingH4428 shall be higherH7311[H8799] than AgagH90, and his kingdomH4438 shall be exaltedH5375.[H8691] |
[7]The water droppeth out of his bucket, and his seed shall be in many waters, and his king shall be higher than Agag, and his kingdom shall be exalted. |
[8]GodH410 brought him forthH3318[H8688] out of EgyptH4714; he hath as it were the strengthH8443 of an unicornH7214: he shall eat upH398[H8799] the nationsH1471 his enemiesH6862, and shall breakH1633[H8762] their bonesH6106, and pierceH4272[H8799] them through with his arrowsH2671. |
[8]God brought him out of Egypt: his strength shall be as an unicorn: he shall eat the nations his enemies, and bruise their bones, and shoot them through with his arrows. |
[9]He couchedH3766[H8804], he lay downH7901[H8804] as a lionH738, and as a great lionH3833: who shall stir him upH6965[H8686]? BlessedH1288[H8803] is he that blessethH1288[H8764] thee, and cursedH779[H8803] is he that cursethH779 theeH8802. |
[9]He coucheth and lieth down as a young lion, and as a lion: who shall stir him up? Blessed is he that blesseth thee, and cursed is he that curseth thee. |
[10]And Balak'sH1111 angerH639 was kindledH2734[H8799] against BalaamH1109, and he smoteH5606 his handsH3709 togetherH5606[H8799]: and BalakH1111 saidH559[H8799] unto BalaamH1109, I calledH7121[H8804] thee to curseH6895[H8800] mine enemiesH341[H8802], and, behold, thou hast altogetherH1288[H8763] blessedH1288[H8765] them these threeH7969 timesH6471. |
[10]Then Balak was very angry with Balaam, and smote his hands together: so Balak said unto Balaam, I sent for thee to curse mine enemies, and behold, thou hast blessed them now three times. |
[11]Therefore now fleeH1272[H8798] thou to thy placeH4725: I thoughtH559[H8804] to promoteH3513 thee unto greatH3513[H8763] honourH3513[H8762]; but, lo, the LORDH3068 hath kept thee backH4513[H8804] from honourH3519. |
[11]Therefore now flee unto thy place: I thought surely to promote thee unto honor, but lo, the Lord hath kept thee back from honor. |
[12]And BalaamH1109 saidH559[H8799] unto BalakH1111, SpakeH1696[H8765] I not also to thy messengersH4397 which thou sentestH7971[H8804] unto me, sayingH559,[H8800] |
[12]Then Balaam answered Balak, Told I not also thy messengers, which thou sentest unto me, saying, |
[13]If BalakH1111 would giveH5414[H8799] me his houseH1004 fullH4393 of silverH3701 and goldH2091, I cannotH3201[H8799] go beyondH5674[H8800] the commandmentH6310 of the LORDH3068, to doH6213[H8800] either goodH2896 or badH7451 of mine own mindH3820; but what the LORDH3068 saithH1696[H8762], that will I speakH1696?[H8762] |
[13]If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot pass the commandment of the Lord, to do either good or bad of mine own mind? What the Lord shall command, the same will I speak. |
[14]And now, behold, I goH1980[H8802] unto my peopleH5971: comeH3212[H8798] therefore, and I will advertiseH3289[H8799] thee what this peopleH5971 shall doH6213[H8799] to thy peopleH5971 in the latterH319 daysH3117. |
[14]And now behold, I go unto my people: come, I will advertise thee what this people shall do to thy folk in the latter days. |
[15]And he took upH5375[H8799] his parableH4912, and saidH559[H8799], BalaamH1109 the sonH1121 of BeorH1160 hath saidH5002[H8803], and the manH1397 whose eyesH5869 are openH8365[H8803] hath saidH5002:[H8803] |
[15]And he uttered his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes were shut up, hath said, |
[16]He hath saidH5002[H8803], which heardH8085[H8802] the wordsH561 of GodH410, and knewH3045[H8802] the knowledgeH1847 of the most HighH5945, which sawH2372[H8799] the visionH4236 of the AlmightyH7706, fallingH5307[H8802] into a trance, but having his eyesH5869 openH1540:[H8803] |
[16]He hath said that heard the words of God, and hath the knowledge of the Most High, and saw the vision of the Almighty, and falling in a trance had his eyes opened: |
[17]I shall seeH7200[H8799] him, but not now: I shall beholdH7789[H8799] him, but not nighH7138: there shall comeH1869[H8804] a StarH3556 out of JacobH3290, and a SceptreH7626 shall riseH6965[H8804] out of IsraelH3478, and shall smiteH4272[H8804] the cornersH6285 of MoabH4124, and destroyH6979[H8773] all the childrenH1121 of ShethH8352[H8676].[H8351] |
[17]I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not near: there shall come a star of Jacob, and a scepter shall rise of Israel, and shall smite the coasts of Moab, and destroy all the sons of Sheth. |
[18]And EdomH123 shall be a possessionH3424, SeirH8165 also shall be a possessionH3424 for his enemiesH341[H8802]; and IsraelH3478 shall doH6213[H8802] valiantlyH2428. |
[18]And Edom shall be possessed, and Seir shall be a possession to their enemies: but Israel shall do valiantly. |
[19]Out of JacobH3290 shall come he that shall have dominionH7287[H8799], and shall destroyH6[H8689] him that remainethH8300 of the cityH5892. |
[19]He also that shall have dominion shall be of Jacob, and shall destroy the remnant of the city. |
[20]And when he lookedH7200[H8799] on AmalekH6002, he took upH5375[H8799] his parableH4912, and saidH559[H8799], AmalekH6002 was the firstH7225 of the nationsH1471; but his latterH319 end shall be that he perishH8 for everH5703. |
[20]And when he looked on Amalek, he uttered his parable, and said, Amalek was the first of the nations: but his latter end shall come to destruction. |
[21]And he lookedH7200[H8799] on the KenitesH7017, and took upH5375[H8799] his parableH4912, and saidH559[H8799], StrongH386 is thy dwellingplaceH4186, and thou puttestH7760[H8798] thy nestH7064 in a rockH5553. |
[21]And he looked on the Kenites, and uttered his parable, and said, Strong is thy dwelling place, and put thy nest in the rock. |
[22]Nevertheless the KeniteH7014 shallH518 be wastedH1197[H8763], until AsshurH804 shall carry thee away captiveH7617.[H8799] |
[22]Nevertheless, the Kenite shall be spoiled until Asshur carry thee away captive. |
[23]And he took upH5375[H8799] his parableH4912, and saidH559[H8799], AlasH188, who shall liveH2421[H8799] when GodH410 doethH7760 thisH8800! |
[23]Again he uttered his parable, and said, Alas, who shall live when God doeth this? |
[24]And shipsH6716 shall come from the coastH3027 of ChittimH3794, and shall afflictH6031[H8765] AsshurH804, and shall afflictH6031[H8765] EberH5677, and he also shall perishH8 for everH5703. |
[24]The ships also shall come from the coasts of Chittim, and subdue Asshur, and shall subdue Eber, and he also shall come to destruction. |
[25]And BalaamH1109 rose upH6965[H8799], and wentH3212[H8799] and returnedH7725[H8799] to his placeH4725: and BalakH1111 also wentH1980[H8804] his wayH1870. |
[25]Then Balaam rose up, and went and returned to his place: and Balak also went his way. |
