| [1]Itaque fratres mei carissimi, et desideratissimi, gaudium meum, et corona mea: sic state in Domino, carissimi. |
[1]Therefore, my brethren, beloved and longed for, my joy and my crown, so continue in the Lord, ye beloved. |
| [2]Evodiam rogo, et Syntychen deprecor, idipsum sapere in Domino. |
[2]I pray Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that they be of one accord in the Lord, |
| [3]Etiam rogo et te, germane compar, adjuva illas, quæ mecum laboraverunt in Evangelio cum Clemente, et ceteris adjutoribus meis, quorum nomina sunt in libro vitæ. |
[3]Yea, and I beseech thee, faithful yokefellow, help those women, which labored with me in the Gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellow laborers, whose names are in the book of life. |
| [4]Gaudete in Domino semper: iterum dico gaudete. |
[4]Rejoice in the Lord alway, again I say, rejoice. |
| [5]Modestia vestra nota sit omnibus hominibus: Dominus prope est. |
[5]Let your patient mind be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. |
| [6]Nihil solliciti sitis: sed in omni oratione, et obsecratione, cum gratiarum actione petitiones vestræ innotescant apud Deum. |
[6]Be nothing careful, but in all things let your requests be showed unto God in prayer, and supplication with giving of thanks. |
| [7]Et pax Dei, quæ exuperat omnem sensum, custodiat corda vestra, et intelligentias vestras in Christo Jesu. |
[7]And the peace of God which passeth all understanding, shall preserve your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. |
| [8]De cetero fratres, quæcumque sunt vera, quæcumque pudica, quæcumque justa, quæcumque sancta, quæcumque amabilia, quæcumque bonæ famæ, siqua virtus, siqua laus disciplinæ, hæc cogitate. |
[8]Furthermore, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things pertain to love, whatsoever things are of good report, if there be any virtue, or if there be any praise, think on these things, |
| [9]Quæ et didicistis, et accepistis, et audistis, et vidistis in me, hæc agite: et Deus pacis erit vobiscum. |
[9]Which ye have both learned and received, and heard, and seen in me: those things do, and the God of peace shall be with you. |
| [10]Gavisus sum autem in Domino vehementer, quoniam tandem aliquando refloruistis pro me sentire, sicut et sentiebatis: occupati autem eratis. |
[10]Now I rejoice also in the Lord greatly, that now at the last ye are revived again to care for me, wherein notwithstanding ye were careful, but ye lacked opportunity. |
| [11]Non quasi propter penuriam dico: ego enim didici, in quibus sum, sufficiens esse. |
[11]I speak not because of want: for I have learned in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. |
| [12]Scio et humiliari, scio et abundare (ubique et in omnibus institutus sum): et satiari, et esurire, et abundare, et penuriam pati. |
[12]And I can be abased, and I can abound: everywhere in all things I am instructed both to be full, and to be hungry, and to abound, and to have want. |
| [13]Omnia possum in eo qui me confortat. |
[13]I am able to do all things through the help of Christ, which strengtheneth me. |
| [14]Verumtamen bene fecistis, communicantes tribulationi meæ. |
[14]Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate to mine affliction. |
| [15]Scitis autem et vos Philippenses, quod in principio Evangelii, quando profectus sum a Macedonia, nulla mihi ecclesia communicavit in ratione dati et accepti, nisi vos soli: |
[15]And ye Philippians know also that in the beginning of the Gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no Church communicated with me concerning the matter of giving and receiving, but ye only. |
| [16]quia et Thessalonicam semel et bis in usum mihi misistis. |
[16]For even when I was in Thessalonica, ye sent once, and afterward again for my necessity, |
| [17]Non quia quæro datum, sed requiro fructum abundantem in ratione vestra. |
[17]Not that I desire a gift: but I desire the fruit which may further your reckoning. |
| [18]Habeo autem omnia, et abundo: repletus sum, acceptis ab Epaphrodito quæ misistis odorem suavitatis, hostiam acceptam, placentem Deo. |
[18]Now I have received all, and have plenty: I was even filled, after that I had received of Epaphroditus that which came from you, an odor that smelleth sweet, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasant to God. |
| [19]Deus autem meus impleat omne desiderium vestrum secundum divitias suas in gloria in Christo Jesu. |
[19]And my God shall fulfill all your necessities through his riches with glory in Jesus Christ. |
| [20]Deo autem et Patri nostro gloria in sæcula sæculorum. Amen. |
[20]Unto God even our Father be praise for evermore, Amen. |
| [21]Salutate omnem sanctum in Christo Jesu. |
[21]Salute all the Saints in Christ Jesus. The brethren, which are with me, greet you. |
| [22]Salutant vos, qui mecum sunt, fratres. Salutant vos omnes sancti, maxime autem qui de Cæsaris domo sunt. |
[22]All the Saints salute you, and most of all they which are of Cesar's household. |
| [23]Gratia Domini nostri Jesu Christi cum spiritu vestro. Amen. |
[23]The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all, Amen. ¶ Written to the Philippians from Rome, and sent by Epaphroditus. |
