The King James Version (w/Strong's)
KJV+
[1]Better [is] the poor walking in his integrity, Than the perverse [in] his lips, who [is] a fool. [1]BetterH2896 is the poorH7326[H8802] that walkethH1980[H8802] in his integrityH8537, than he that is perverseH6141 in his lipsH8193, and is a foolH3684.
[2]Also, without knowledge the soul [is] not good, And the hasty in feet is sinning. [2]Also, that the soulH5315 be without knowledgeH1847, it is not goodH2896; and he that hastethH213[H8801] with his feetH7272 sinnethH2398.[H8802]
[3]The folly of man perverteth his way, And against Jehovah is his heart wroth. [3]The foolishnessH200 of manH120 pervertethH5557[H8762] his wayH1870: and his heartH3820 frettethH2196[H8799] against the LORDH3068.
[4]Wealth addeth many friends, And the poor from his neighbour is separated. [4]WealthH1952 makethH3254[H8686] manyH7227 friendsH7453; but the poorH1800 is separatedH6504[H8735] from his neighbourH7453.
[5]A false witness is not acquitted, Whoso breatheth out lies is not delivered. [5]A falseH8267 witnessH5707 shall not be unpunishedH5352[H8735], and he that speakethH6315[H8686] liesH3577 shall not escapeH4422.[H8735]
[6]Many entreat the face of the noble, And all have made friendship to a man of gifts. [6]ManyH7227 will intreatH2470[H8762] the favourH6440 of the princeH5081: and every man is a friendH7453 to himH376 that giveth giftsH4976.
[7]All the brethren of the poor have hated him, Surely also his friends have been far from him, He is pursuing words -- they are not! [7]All the brethrenH251 of the poorH7326[H8802] do hateH8130[H8804] him: how much more do his friendsH4828 go farH7368[H8804] from him? he pursuethH7291[H8764] them with words, yet they are wanting to himH561.
[8]Whoso is getting heart is loving his soul, He is keeping understanding to find good. [8]He that gettethH7069[H8802] wisdomH3820 lovethH157[H8802] his own soulH5315: he that keepethH8104[H8802] understandingH8394 shall findH4672[H8800] goodH2896.
[9]A false witness is not acquitted, And whoso breatheth out lies perisheth. [9]A falseH8267 witnessH5707 shall not be unpunishedH5352[H8735], and he that speakethH6315[H8686] liesH3577 shall perishH6.[H8799]
[10]Luxury is not comely for a fool, Much less for a servant to rule among princes. [10]DelightH8588 is not seemlyH5000 for a foolH3684; much less for a servantH5650 to have ruleH4910[H8800] over princesH8269.
[11]The wisdom of a man hath deferred his anger, And his glory [is] to pass over transgression. [11]The discretionH7922 of a manH120 deferrethH748[H8689] his angerH639; and it is his gloryH8597 to pass overH5674[H8800] a transgressionH6588.
[12]The wrath of a king [is] a growl as of a young lion, And as dew on the herb his good-will. [12]The king'sH4428 wrathH2197 is as the roaringH5099 of a lionH3715; but his favourH7522 is as dewH2919 upon the grassH6212.
[13]A calamity to his father [is] a foolish son, And the contentions of a wife [are] a continual dropping. [13]A foolishH3684 sonH1121 is the calamityH1942 of his fatherH1: and the contentionsH4079 of a wifeH802 are a continualH2956[H8802] droppingH1812.
[14]House and wealth [are] the inheritance of fathers, And from Jehovah [is] an understanding wife. [14]HouseH1004 and richesH1952 are the inheritanceH5159 of fathersH1: and a prudentH7919[H8688] wifeH802 is from the LORDH3068.
[15]Sloth causeth deep sleep to fall, And an indolent soul doth hunger. [15]SlothfulnessH6103 castethH5307[H8686] into a deep sleepH8639; and an idleH7423 soulH5315 shall suffer hungerH7456.[H8799]
[16]Whoso is keeping the command is keeping his soul, Whoso is despising His ways dieth. [16]He that keepethH8104[H8802] the commandmentH4687 keepethH8104[H8802] his own soulH5315; but he that despisethH959[H8802] his waysH1870 shall dieH4191.[H8799]
[17]Whoso is lending [to] Jehovah is favouring the poor, And his deed He repayeth to him. [17]He that hath pityH2603[H8802] upon the poorH1800 lendethH3867[H8688] unto the LORDH3068; and that which he hath givenH1576 will he pay him againH7999.[H8762]
[18]Chastise thy son, for there is hope, And to put him to death lift not up thy soul. [18]ChastenH3256[H8761] thy sonH1121 while there isH3426 hopeH8615, and let not thy soulH5315 spareH5375[H8799] for his cryingH4191.[H8687]
[19]A man of great wrath is bearing punishment, For, if thou dost deliver, yet again thou dost add. [19]A manH1419 of greatH1632 wrathH2534 shall sufferH5375[H8802] punishmentH6066: for if thou deliverH5337[H8686] him, yet thou must do it againH3254.[H8686]
[20]Hear counsel and receive instruction, So that thou art wise in thy latter end. [20]HearH8085[H8798] counselH6098, and receiveH6901[H8761] instructionH4148, that thou mayest be wiseH2449[H8799] in thy latter endH319.
[21]Many [are] the purposes in a man's heart, And the counsel of Jehovah it standeth. [21]There are manyH7227 devicesH4284 in a man'sH376 heartH3820; nevertheless the counselH6098 of the LORDH3068, that shall standH6965.[H8799]
[22]The desirableness of a man [is] his kindness, And better [is] the poor than a liar. [22]The desireH8378 of a manH120 is his kindnessH2617: and a poor manH7326[H8802] is betterH2896 thanH376 a liarH3577.
[23]The fear of Jehovah [is] to life, And satisfied he remaineth -- he is not charged with evil. [23]The fearH3374 of the LORDH3068 tendeth to lifeH2416: and he that hath it shall abideH3885[H8799] satisfiedH7649; he shall not be visitedH6485[H8735] with evilH7451.
[24]The slothful hath hidden his hand in a dish, Even unto his mouth he bringeth it not back. [24]A slothfulH6102 man hidethH2934[H8804] his handH3027 in his bosomH6747, and will not so much as bringH7725 it to his mouthH6310 againH7725.[H8686]
[25]A scorner smite, and the simple acts prudently, And give reproof to the intelligent, He understandeth knowledge. [25]SmiteH5221[H8686] a scornerH3887[H8801], and the simpleH6612 will bewareH6191[H8686]: and reproveH3198[H8689] one that hath understandingH995[H8737], and he will understandH995[H8799] knowledgeH1847.
[26]Whoso is spoiling a father causeth a mother to flee, A son causing shame, and bringing confusion. [26]He that wastethH7703[H8764] his fatherH1, and chaseth awayH1272[H8686] his motherH517, is a sonH1121 that causeth shameH954[H8688], and bringeth reproachH2659.[H8688]
[27]Cease, my son, to hear instruction -- To err from sayings of knowledge. [27]CeaseH2308[H8798], my sonH1121, to hearH8085[H8800] the instructionH4148 that causeth to errH7686[H8800] from the wordsH561 of knowledgeH1847.
[28]A worthless witness scorneth judgment, And the mouth of the wicked swalloweth iniquity. [28]An ungodlyH1100 witnessH5707 scornethH3887[H8686] judgmentH4941: and the mouthH6310 of the wickedH7563 devourethH1104[H8762] iniquityH205.
[29]Judgments have been prepared for scorners, And stripes for the back of fools! [29]JudgmentsH8201 are preparedH3559[H8738] for scornersH3887[H8801], and stripesH4112 for the backH1460 of foolsH3684.
