[1]THEREFORE preach wisdom, and understanding will answer you. |
[1]Doth not wysdome crye? doth not vnderstanding put foorth her voyce |
[2]For wisdom is on the top of high places, she stands between the ways and by the paths. |
[2]She standeth in the top of high places, by the way in the place of the pathes |
[3]She cries at the gates, at the entrance of the city; she cries aloud, saying, |
[3]She cryeth at the gates of the citie, at the entrye of the doores |
[4]Unto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of men, |
[4]It is you O ye men [saith she] whom I call, vnto the chyldren of men do I lyft vp my voyce |
[5]So that the simple ones may understand prudence and the fools understand in their heart. |
[5]Take heede vnto knowledge O ye ignoraunt, be ye wise in heart O ye fooles |
[6]Hear, for I will speak truth; and the opening of my mouth shall bring forth uprightness. |
[6]Geue eare, for I wyll speake of great matters, and open my lippes to tell thinges that be right |
[7]For my mouth shall speak truth, and lying lips are an abomination before me. |
[7]For my mouth shall be talking of the trueth, and my lippes abhorre vngodlynesse |
[8]All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing perverse or deceptive in them. |
[8]All the wordes of my mouth are righteous, there is no frowardnes nor falsehood in them |
[9]They are all plain to him who understands them, and right to those who are willing to find knowledge. |
[9]They are all playne to suche as wyll vnderstande, and right to them that finde knowledge |
[10]Receive discipline and not silver; and choose for yourself knowledge rather than fine gold. |
[10]Receaue my doctrine and not siluer, and knowledge rather then fine golde |
[11]For wisdom is much better than fine gold; yea, she is better than precious stones, and nothing can be compared to her |
[11]For wysdome is more worth then pretious stones, yea all thinges that thou canst desire, may not be compared vnto it |
[12]I wisdom have created prudence, and I posses knowledge and reason. |
[12]I wysdome dwell with counsell, and finde out knowledge and vnderstanding |
[13]Reverence of the LORD despises evil; pride, arrogance, evil ways, and perverse speech do I hate. |
[13]The feare of the Lorde abhorreth wickednes, pryde, disdayne, and the euil way, and a mouth that speaketh wicked thinges I vtterly abhorre |
[14]counsel and sound doctrine are mine; mine is understanding and might. |
[14]Counsell is mine, and direction, I am vnderstanding, and I haue strength |
[15]By me kings reign and princes decree justice. |
[15]Through me kinges raigne, and princes make iust lawes |
[16]By me princes and nobles rule, even all the righteous judges of the earth. |
[16]By me princes beare rule, and noble men do iudge the earth |
[17]I love those who love me; and those who seek me shall find me. |
[17]I am louing vnto those that loue me: and they that seeke me early, shall finde me |
[18]Riches and honor are mine; yea, enduring riches and righteousness. |
[18]Riches and honour are with me, yea durable riches and righteousnes |
[19]My fruit is better than fine gold, and my ingathering than choice silver. |
[19]My fruite is better then golde and pretious stones, and mine encrease more worth then fine siluer |
[20]I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of justice, |
[20]I wyll guyde thee in the way of righteousnes, and in the midst of the pathes of iudgement |
[21]That I may cause those that love me to have hope; and I will fill their treasuries |
[21]That I maye stablishe the inhetaunce of them that loue me, and encrease their treasure |
[22]The LORD created me as the first of his creations, before all of his works. |
[22]The Lorde him selfe had me in possession in the beginning of his wayes, or euer he began his workes aforetime |
[23]I was established from everlasting, from the beginning, before he made the earth. |
[23]I haue ben ordayned from euerlasting, and from the beginning or euer the earth was made |
[24]When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water. |
[24]When I was borne there were neither depthes nor springes of water |
[25]Before the mountains were settled, before the hills were formed was I conceived; |
[25]Before the foundations of the mountaines were layde: yea before all hilles, was I borne |
[26]While as yet he had not made the earth nor the valleys nor the best soil of the world. |
[26]The earth, and all that is vpon the earth was not yet made, no not the dust it selfe |
[27]When he established the heavens, I was there; when he set a circle upon the face of the deep; |
[27]For when he made the heauens, I was present, when he compassed the deapthes about |
[28]When he made firm the clouds above; when he strengthened the fountains of the deep; |
[28]When he hanged the cloudes aboue, when he fastened the springes of the deepe |
[29]When he gave to the sea its bounds, that the waters should not transgress his commandment; when he laid down the foundations of the earth: |
[29]When he shut the sea within certaine boundes, that the waters should not go ouer their markes that he commaunded: when he layde the foundations of the earth |
[30]I together with him was establishing them; and daily I was his delight, rejoicing always before him, |
[30]I was with him ordring all thinges, deliting dayly and reioysyng alway before hym |
[31]Rejoicing in his habitable earth; and my delights were with the sons of men |
[31]As for the rounde compasse of this worlde I make it ioyfull: for my delite is to be among the chyldren of men |
[32]Now therefore hearken to me, O you children; for blessed is he who keeps my ways. |
[32]Therefore hearken vnto me: O ye chyldren, blessed are they that kepe my wayes |
[33]Hear instruction and be wise and do not go astray. |
[33]O geue eare vnto nurture, be wyse, and refuse it not |
[34]Blessed is the man who heeds me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at my threshold. |
[34]Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching dayly at my gates, and geuing attendaunce at the postes of my doores |
[35]For my objectives are the issues of life, they proclaim the will of the LORD. |
[35]For whoso findeth me, findeth life, and shall obtaine fauour of the Lorde |
[36]Those who sin against me wrong their own soul; all those who hate me love death |
[36]But whoso offendeth against me, hurteth his owne soule: and they that hate me, are the louers of death |
