Peshitta (Lamsa, 1933)
Pes(Lam)
[1]I love that ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎ should hear my voice and my supplications. [1]I LOVE the LORD, because he will hear the voice of my supplication.
[2]Because He hath inclined His ear unto me, therefore will I call upon Him all my days. [2]He will incline his ear to me in the day when I call upon him.
[3]The cords of death compassed me, and the straits of the nether-world got hold upon me; I found trouble and sorrow. [3]The pangs of death have encompassed me, and the pains of Sheol have found me; I found trouble and sorrow.
[4]But I called upon the name of ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎: 'I beseech thee, O ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎, deliver my soul.' [4]Then called I upon the name of the LORD; O LORD, deliver my soul.
[5]Gracious is ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎, and righteous; yea, our God is compassionate. [5]Thou art merciful, O LORD, and righteous; O God, thou art merciful.
[6]‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎ preserveth the simple; I was brought low, and He saved me. [6]The LORD preserves the little ones; he humbled me and saved me.
[7]Return, O my soul, unto Thy rest; for ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎ hath dealt bountifully with thee. [7]Return to your rest, O my soul; for the LORD has dealt bountifully with you.
[8]For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from stumbling. [8]For he has delivered my soul from death, and my feet from falling.
[9]I shall walk before ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎ in the lands of the living. [9]I will be acceptable to thee, O LORD, in the land of the living.
[10]I trusted even when I spoke: 'I am greatly afflicted.' [10]I believed, therefore have I spoken; I have been humbled exceedingly:
[11]I said in my haste: 'All men are liars.' [11]I said in my stupidity, All men are liars.
[12]How can I repay unto ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎ all His bountiful dealings toward me? [12]What shall I render to the LORD for all his benefits toward me?
[13]I will lift up the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎. [13]I will take the cup of salvation and call upon the name of the LORD.
[14]My vows will I pay unto ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎, yea, in the presence of all His people. [14]I will pay my vows to the LORD now in the presence of all the people.
[15]Precious in the sight of ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎ is the death of His saints. [15]Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.
[16]I beseech Thee, O ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎, for I am Thy servant; I am Thy servant, the son of Thy handmaid; Thou hast loosed my bands. [16]O LORD, truly I am thy servant; I am thy servant, and the son of thy handmaid; thou hast loosed my bonds.
[17]I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎. [17]I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving and will call upon the name of the LORD.
[18]I will pay my vows unto ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎, yea, in the presence of all His people; [18]I will pay my vows to the LORD now in the presence of all the people,
[19]In the courts of ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎'S house, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Hallelujah. [19]In the courts of the LORD'S house, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Praise the LORD.
