[1]The title of the twelfthe salm. To the victorie of Dauid. |
[1]SAVE, O LORD; for the godly man ceaseth; for faith hath disappeared from the earth. |
[2]Hou long schal Y sette counsels in my soule; sorewe in my herte bi dai? |
[2]Men speak vanity, every one with his neighbour; with flattering lips, and with a double heart do they speak. |
[3]Hou long schal myn enemy be reisid on me? |
[3]The LORD shall destroy all flattering lips and tongues that speak proud things. |
[4]My Lord God, biholde thou, and here thou me. Liytne thou myn iyen, lest ony tyme Y slepe in deth; |
[4]For they have said, With our tongue will we prevail: our lips are our own; who is lord over us? |
[5]lest ony tyme myn enemye seie, Y hadde the maistri ayens hym. Thei, that troblen me, schulen haue ioie, if Y schal be stirid; forsothe Y hopide in thi merci. |
[5]Because of the oppression of the poor and the groans of the needy, now will I arise, says the LORD; and I will bring salvation openly. |
[6]Myn herte schal fulli haue ioie in thin helthe; Y schal synge to the Lord, that yyueth goodis to me, and Y schal seie salm to the name of the hiyeste Lord. |
[6]The words of the LORD are pure words; as silver tried in a furnace on earth, they are purified seven times. |
7[No verse] |
[7]Thou shalt keep them, O LORD; thou shalt preserve me and save me from this generation for ever. |
8[No verse] |
[8]For the wicked walk everywhere with contemptible pride like the children of Edom. |
