[1]To the chief MusicianH5329[H8764], A PsalmH4210 of DavidH1732. O LORDH3068, thou hast searchedH2713[H8804] me, and knownH3045 meH8799. [1]O lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.
[2]Thou knowestH3045[H8804] my downsittingH3427[H8800] and mine uprisingH6965[H8800], thou understandestH995[H8804] my thoughtH7454 afar offH7350. [2]Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.
[3]Thou compassestH2219[H8765] my pathH734 and my lying downH7252, and art acquaintedH5532[H8689] with all my waysH1870. [3]Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.
[4]For there is not a wordH4405 in my tongueH3956, but, lo, O LORDH3068, thou knowestH3045 it altogetherH8804. [4]For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.
[5]Thou hast besetH6696[H8804] me behindH268 and beforeH6924, and laidH7896[H8799] thine hand upon meH3709. [5]Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.
[6]Such knowledgeH1847 is too wonderfulH6383[H8675][H6383] for me; it is highH7682[H8738], I cannotH3201 attain unto itH8799. [6]Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.
[7]Whither shall I goH3212[H8799] from thy spiritH7307? or whither shall I fleeH1272[H8799] from thy presenceH6440? [7]Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
[8]If I ascend upH5266[H8799] into heavenH8064, thou art there: if I make my bedH3331[H8686] in hell, behold, thou art thereH7585. [8]If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
[9]If I takeH5375[H8799] the wingsH3671 of the morningH7837, and dwellH7931[H8799] in the uttermost partsH319 of the seaH3220; [9]If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
[10]Even there shall thy handH3027 leadH5148[H8686] me, and thy right handH3225 shall holdH270 meH8799. [10]Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
[11]If I sayH559[H8799], Surely the darknessH2822 shall coverH7779[H8799] me; even the nightH3915 shall be lightH216 about meH1157. [11]If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.
[12]Yea, the darknessH2822 hidethH2821[H8686] not from thee; but the nightH3915 shinethH215[H8686] as the dayH3117: the darknessH2825 and the light are both alike to theeH219. [12]Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.
[13]For thou hast possessedH7069[H8804] my reinsH3629: thou hast coveredH5526[H8799] me in my mother'sH517 wombH990. [13]For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.
[14]I will praiseH3034[H8686] thee; for I am fearfullyH3372[H8737] and wonderfully madeH6395[H8738]: marvellousH6381[H8737] are thy worksH4639; and that my soulH5315 knowethH3045[H8802] right wellH3966. [14]I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
[15]My substanceH6108 was not hidH3582[H8738] from thee, when I was madeH6213[H8795] in secretH5643, and curiously wroughtH7551[H8795] in the lowest partsH8482 of the earthH776. [15]My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
[16]Thine eyesH5869 did seeH7200[H8804] my substance, yet being unperfectH1564; and in thy bookH5612 all my members were writtenH3789[H8735], which in continuanceH3117 were fashionedH3335[H8795], when as yet there was none of themH259. [16]Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
[17]How preciousH3365[H8804] also are thy thoughtsH7454 unto me, O GodH410! how greatH6105[H8804] is the sum of themH7218! [17]How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!
[18]If I should countH5608[H8799] them, they are more in numberH7235[H8799] than the sandH2344: when I awakeH6974[H8689], I am still with theeH5750. [18]If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.
[19]Surely thou wilt slayH6991[H8799] the wickedH7563, O GodH433: departH5493[H8798] from me therefore, ye bloodyH1818 menH582. [19]Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloody men.
[20]For they speakH559[H8799] against thee wickedlyH4209, and thine enemiesH6145 takeH5375[H8804] thy name in vainH7723. [20]For they speak against thee wickedly, and thine enemies take thy name in vain.
[21]Do not I hateH8130[H8799] them, O LORDH3068, that hateH8130[H8764] thee? and am not I grievedH6962[H8709] with those that rise up against theeH8618? [21]Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee?
[22]I hateH8130[H8804] them with perfectH8503 hatredH8135: I count them mine enemiesH341.[H8802] [22]I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.
[23]SearchH2713[H8798] me, O GodH410, and knowH3045[H8798] my heartH3824: tryH974[H8798] me, and knowH3045[H8798] my thoughtsH8312: [23]Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
[24]And seeH7200[H8798] if there be any wickedH6090 wayH1870 in me, and leadH5148[H8798] me in the wayH1870 everlastingH5769. [24]And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
