[[A Psalm Chapter of Asaph.]]
[1]A Psalm of Asaph. The God of gods -- Jehovah -- hath spoken, And He calleth to the earth From the rising of the sun unto its going in. [1]The God of gods, even the Lord that hath spoken and called the earth from the rising up of the sun unto the going down thereof.
[2]From Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shone. [2]Out of Zion, which is the perfection of beauty, hath God shined.
[3]Our God cometh, and is not silent, Fire before Him doth devour, And round about him it hath been very tempestuous. [3]Our God shall come and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and a mighty tempest shall be moved round about him.
[4]He doth call unto the heavens from above, And unto the earth, to judge His people. [4]He shall call the heaven above, and the earth to judge his people.
[5]Gather ye to Me My saints, Making covenant with Me over a sacrifice. [5]Gather my Saints together unto me, those that make a covenant with me with sacrifice.
[6]And the heavens declare His righteousness, For God Himself [is] judge. Selah. [6]And the heavens shall declare his righteousness: for God is judge himself. Selah.
[7]Hear, O My people, and I speak, O Israel, and I testify against thee, God, thy God [am] I. [7]Hear, O my people, and I will speak: hear, O Israel, and I will testify unto thee: for I am God, even thy God.
[8]Not for thy sacrifices do I reprove thee, Yea, thy burnt-offerings [Are] before Me continually. [8]I will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices, or thy burnt offerings, that have not been continually before me.
[9]I take not from thy house a bullock, From thy folds he goats. [9]I will take no bullock out of thine house, nor goats out of thy folds.
[10]For Mine [is] every beast of the forest, The cattle on the hills of oxen. [10]For all the beasts of the forest are mine, and the beasts on a thousand mountains.
[11]I have known every fowl of the mountains, And the wild beast of the field [is] with Me. [11]I know all the fouls on the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field are mine.
[12]If I am hungry I tell not to thee, For Mine [is] the world and its fulness. [12]If I be hungry, I will not tell thee: for the world is mine, and all that therein is.
[13]Do I eat the flesh of bulls, And drink the blood of he-goats? [13]Will I eat the flesh of bulls? Or drink the blood of goats?
[14]Sacrifice to God confession, And complete to the Most High thy vows. [14]Offer unto God praise, and pay thy vows unto the Most High,
[15]And call Me in a day of adversity, I deliver thee, and thou honourest Me. [15]And call upon me in the day of trouble: so will I deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.
[16]And to the wicked hath God said: What to thee -- to recount My statutes? That thou liftest up My covenant on thy mouth? [16]But unto the wicked said God, What hast thou to do to declare mine ordinances, that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth,
[17]Yea, thou hast hated instruction, And dost cast My words behind thee. [17]Seeing thou hatest to be reformed, and hast cast my words behind thee?
[18]If thou hast seen a thief, Then thou art pleased with him, And with adulterers [is] thy portion. [18]For when thou seest a thief, thou runnest with him, and thou art partaker with the adulterers.
[19]Thy mouth thou hast sent forth with evil, And thy tongue joineth deceit together, [19]Thou givest thy mouth to evil, and with thy tongue thou forgetest deceit.
[20]Thou sittest, against thy brother thou speakest, Against a son of thy mother givest slander. [20]Thou sittest, and speakest against thy brother, and slanderest thy mother's son.
[21]These thou didst, and I kept silent, Thou hast thought that I am like thee, I reprove thee, and set in array before thine eyes. [21]These things hast thou done, and I held my tongue: therefore thou thoughtest that I was like thee: but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thee.
[22]Understand this, I pray you, Ye who are forgetting God, Lest I tear, and there is no deliverer. [22]Oh consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none that can deliver you.
[23]He who is sacrificing praise honoureth Me, As to him who maketh a way, I cause him to look on the salvation of God! [23]He that offereth praise, shall glorify me: and to him, that disposeth his way aright, will I show the salvation of God.
