| [1]למנצח אל־תשחת לדוד מכתם בשלח שאול וישמרו את־הבית להמיתו |
[1]DELIVER me from mine enemies, O God; defend me from them that rise up against me. |
| [2]הצילני מאיבי אלהי ממתקוממי תשגבני |
[2]Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from bloody men. |
| [3]הצילני מפעלי און ומאנשי דמים הושיעני |
[3]For, 1o, they lie in wait for my soul; evil have they multiplied against me; not because I have transgressed or because I have sinned, O LORD. |
| [4]כי הנה ארבו לנפשי יגורו עלי עזים לא־פשעי ולא־חטאתי יהוה |
[4]They run and prepare themselves against me without considering whether I have been at fault; |
| [5]בלי־עון ירצון ויכוננו עורה לקראתי וראה |
[5]Awake to help me, and behold, O thou LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel, awake to visit all the nations, and spare not any wicked transgressors. |
| [6]ואתה יהוה־אלהים צבאות אלהי ישראל הקיצה לפקד כל־הגוים אל־תחן כל־בגדי און סלה |
[6]They return at evening; they make a noise like dogs, and go round about the city. |
| [7]ישובו לערב יהמו ככלב ויסובבו עיר |
[7]Behold, they belch out with their mouths; swords are in their lips; for who, say they, does care? |
| [8]הנה יביעון בפיהם־חרבות בשפתותיהם כי־מי שמע |
[8]But thou, O LORD, shalt laugh at them; thou shalt have all the nations in derision. |
| [9]ואתה יהוה תשחק־למו תלעג לכל־גוים |
[9]To thee shall I give praise, O God, for thou art my defense. |
| [10]עזו אליך אשמרה כי־אלהים משגבי |
[10]O God, thy lovingkindness has preceded me; God has let me live to see my enemies avenged. |
| [11]אלהי חסדו [Q: חסדי] יקדמני אלהים יראני בשררי |
[11]Spare them for a living example, lest my people forget; but scatter them by thy power, and bring them down, O LORD my hope. |
| [12]אל־תהרגם פן ישכחו עמי־הניעמו בחילך והורידמו מגננו אדני |
[12]For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips. let them even be taken in their pride; for it is cursing and lying that they speak. |
| [13]חטאת־פימו דבר־שפתימו וילכדו בגאונם ומאלה ומכחש יספרו |
[13]Consume them in thy wrath, consume them, that they be no more, that they may know that God rules over Jacob and over the ends of the earth. |
| [14]כלה בחמה כלה ואינמו וידעו־כי־אלהים משל ביעקב לאפסי הארץ סלה |
[14]And at evening let them return; and let them make a noise like dogs, and go round about the city. |
| [15]וישבו לערב יהמו ככלב ויסובבו עיר |
[15]Let them be hungry and not be filled, neither let them find a lodging place. |
| [16]המה ינועון [Q: יניעון] לאכל אם־לא ישבעו וילינו |
[16]But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning; for thou hast been my defense and refuge in the day of my trouble. |
| [17]ואני אשיר עזך וארנן לבקר חסדך כי־היית משגב לי ומנוס ביום צר־לי |
[17]Unto thee, O God, will I sing; for thou art God of my refuge and the God of my mercy. |
| [18]עזי אליך אזמרה כי־אלהים משגבי אלהי חסדי |
