[[A Psalm Chapter to give instruction, of Ethan the Ezrahite.]]
[1]Maschil of Ethan the Ezrahite. [1]I will sing the mercies of the Lord forever: with my mouth will I declare thy truth from generation to generation.
[2]I will sing of the mercies of ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎ for ever; to all generations will I make known Thy faithfulness with my mouth. [2]For I said, Mercy shall be set up forever: thy truth shalt thou stablish in the very heavens.
[3]For I have said: 'For ever is mercy built; in the very heavens Thou dost establish Thy faithfulness. [3]I have made a covenant with my chosen: I have sworn to David my servant,
[4]I have made a covenant with My chosen, I have sworn unto David My servant: [4]Thy seed will I stablish forever, and set up thy throne from generation to generation. Selah.
[5]For ever will I establish thy seed, and build up thy throne to a generations.' Selah [5]O Lord, even the heavens shall praise thy wondrous work: yea, thy truth in the congregation of the saints.
[6]So shall the heavens praise Thy wonders, O ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎, Thy faithfulness also in the assembly of the holy ones. [6]For who is equal to the Lord in the heaven? And who is like the Lord among the sons of the gods?
[7]For who in the skies can be compared unto ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎, who among the sons of might can be likened unto ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎, [7]God is very terrible in the assembly of the saints, and to be reverenced above all, that are about him.
[8]A God dreaded in the great council of the holy ones, and feared of all them that are about Him? [8]O Lord God of hosts, who is like unto thee, which art a mighty Lord, and thy truth is about thee?
[9]O ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎ God of hosts, who is a mighty one, like unto Thee, O ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎? And Thy faithfulness is round about Thee. [9]Thou rulest the raging of the sea: when the waves thereof arise, thou stillest them.
[10]Thou rulest the proud swelling of the sea; when the waves thereof arise, Thou stillest them. [10]Thou hast beaten down Rahab as a man slain: thou hast scattered thine enemies with thy mighty arm.
[11]Thou didst crush Rahab, as one that is slain; Thou didst scattered Thine enemies with the arm of Thy strength. [11]The heavens are thine, the earth also is thine: thou hast laid the foundation of the world, and all that therein is.
[12]Thine are the heavens, Thine also the earth; the world and the fulness thereof, Thou hast founded them. [12]Thou hast created the north and the south: Tabor and Hermon shall rejoice in thy name.
[13]The north and the south, Thou hast created them; Tabor and Hermon rejoice in Thy name. [13]Thou hast a mighty arm: strong is thine hand , and high is thy right hand.
[14]Thine is an arm with might; strong is Thy hand, and exalted is Thy right hand. [14]Righteousness and equity are the stablishment of thy throne: mercy and truth go before thy face.
[15]Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Thy throne; mercy and truth go before Thee. [15]Blessed is the people, that can rejoice in thee: they shall walk in the light of thy countenance, O Lord.
[16]Happy is the people that know the joyful shout; they walk, O ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎, in the light of Thy countenance. [16]They shall rejoice continually in thy name, and in thy righteousness shall they exalt themselves.
[17]In Thy name do they rejoice all the day; and through Thy righteousness are they exalted. [17]For thou art the glory of their strength, and by thy favor our horns shall be exalted.
[18]For Thou art the glory of their strength; and in Thy favour our horn is exalted. [18]For our shield appertaineth to the Lord, and our King to the Holy One of Israel.
[19]For of ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎ is our shield; and the Holy One of Israel is our king. [19]Thou spakest then in a vision unto thine Holy One, and saidest, I have laid help upon one that is mighty: I have exalted one chosen out of the people.
[20]Then Thou spokest in vision to Thy godly ones, and saidst: 'I have laid help upon one that is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of the people. [20]I have found David my servant: with mine holy oil have I anointed him.
[21]I have found David My servant; with My holy oil have I anointed him; [21]Therefore mine hand shall be established with him, and mine arm shall strengthen him.
[22]With whom My hand shall be established; Mine arm also shall strengthen him. [22]The enemy shall not oppress him, neither shall the wicked hurt him.
[23]The enemy shall not exact from him; nor the son of wickedness afflict him. [23]But I will destroy his foes before his face, and plague them that hate him.
[24]And I will beat to pieces his adversaries before him, and smite them that hate him. [24]My truth also and my mercy shall be with him, and in my name shall his horn be exalted.
[25]But My faithfulness and My mercy shall be with him; and through My name shall his horn be exalted. [25]I will set his hand also in the sea, and his right hand in the floods.
[26]I will set his hand also on the sea, and his right hand on the rivers. [26]He shall cry unto me, Thou art my Father, my God and the rock of my salvation.
[27]He shall call unto Me: Thou art my Father, my God, and the rock of my salvation. [27]Also I will make him my first born, higher than the kings of the earth.
[28]I also will appoint him first-born, the highest of the kings of the earth. [28]My mercy will I keep for him forevermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him.
[29]For ever will I keep for him My mercy, and My covenant shall stand fast with him. [29]His seed also will I make to endure forever, and his throne as the days of heaven.
[30]His seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven. [30]But if his children forsake my Law, and walk not in my judgments:
[31]If his children forsake My law, and walk not in Mine ordinances; [31]If they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments:
[32]If they profane My statutes, and keep not My commandments; [32]Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with strokes.
[33]Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with strokes. [33]Yet my loving kindness will I not take from him, neither will I falsify my truth.
[34]But My mercy will I not break off from him, nor will I be false to My faithfulness. [34]My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.
[35]My covenant will I not profane, nor alter that which is gone out of My lips. [35]I have sworn once by mine holiness, that I will not fail David, saying,
[36]Once have I sworn by My holiness: Surely I will not be false unto David; [36]His seed shall endure forever, and his throne shall be as the sun before me.
[37]His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before Me. [37]He shall be established forevermore as the moon, and as a faithful witness in the heaven. Selah.
[38]It shall be established for ever as the moon; and be stedfast as the witness in sky.' Selah [38]But thou hast rejected and abhorred, thou hast been angry with thine Anointed.
[39]But Thou hast cast off and rejected, Thou hast been wroth with Thine anointed. [39]Thou hast broken the covenant of thy servant , and profaned his crown, casting it on the ground.
[40]Thou hast abhorred the covenant of Thy servant; Thou hast profaned his crown even to the ground. [40]Thou hast broken down all his walls: thou hast laid his fortresses in ruin.
[41]Thou hast broken down all his fences; Thou hast brought his strongholds to ruin. [41]All that go by the way, spoil him: he is a rebuke unto his neighbors.
[42]All that pass by the way spoil him; he is become a taunt to his neighbours. [42]Thou hast set up the right hand of his enemies, and made all his adversaries to rejoice.
[43]Thou hast exalted the right hand of his adversaries; Thou hast made all his enemies to rejoice. [43]Thou hast also turned the edge of his sword, and hast not made him to stand in the battle.
[44]Yea, Thou turnest back the edge of his sword, and hast not made him to stand in the battle. [44]Thou hast caused his dignity to decay, and cast his throne to the ground.
[45]Thou hast made his brightness to cease, and cast his throne down to the ground. [45]The days of his youth hast thou shortened, and covered him with shame. Selah.
[46]The days of his youth hast Thou shortened; Thou hast covered him with shame. Selah [46]Lord, how long wilt thou hide thyself, forever? Shall thy wrath burn like fire?
[47]How long, O ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎, wilt Thou hide Thyself for ever? How long shall Thy wrath burn like fire? [47]Remember of what time I am: wherefore shouldest thou create in vain all the children of men?
[48]O remember how short my time is; for what vanity hast Thou created all the children of men! [48]What man liveth, and shall not see death? Shall he deliver his soul from the hand of the grave? Selah.
[49]What man is he that liveth and shall not see death, that shall deliver his soul from the power of the grave? Selah [49]Lord, where are thy former mercies, which thou swearest unto David in thy truth?
[50]Where are Thy former mercies, O Lord, which Thou didst swear unto David in Thy faithfulness? [50]Remember, O Lord, the rebuke of thy servants, which I bear in my bosom of all the mighty people.
[51]Remember, Lord, the taunt of Thy servants; how I do bear in my bosom the taunt of so many peoples; [51]For thine enemies have reproached thee, O Lord, because they have reproached the footsteps of thine Anointed.
[52]Wherewith Thine enemies have taunted, O ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎, wherewith they have taunted the footsteps of Thine anointed. [52]Praised be the Lord forevermore. So be it, even so be it.
[53]Blessed be ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎ for evermore. Amen, and Amen. 53[No verse]
