[[A prayer of Moses, the man of God.]]
[1]Lord, thou hast been our habitation from generation to generation. [1]A PrayerH8605 of MosesH4872 the manH376 of GodH430. LordH136, thou hast been our dwelling placeH4583 in allH1755 generationsH1755.
[2]Before the mountains were made, and before thou hadst formed the earth, and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting thou art our God. [2]Before the mountainsH2022 were brought forthH3205[H8795], or ever thou hadst formedH2342[H8787] the earthH776 and the worldH8398, even from everlastingH5769 toH5704 everlastingH5769, thou art GodH410.
[3]Thou turnest man to destruction: again thou sayest, Return, ye sons of Adam. [3]Thou turnestH7725[H8686] manH582 to destructionH1793; and sayestH559[H8799], ReturnH7725[H8798], ye childrenH1121 of menH120.
[4]For a thousand years in thy sight are as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night. [4]For a thousandH505 yearsH8141 in thy sightH5869 are but asH3117 yesterdayH865 when it is pastH5674[H8799], and as a watchH821 in the nightH3915.
[5]Thou hast overflowed them: they are as a sleep: in the morning he groweth like the grass: [5]Thou carriest them away as with a floodH2229[H8804]; they are as a sleepH8142: in the morningH1242 they are like grassH2682 which groweth upH2498.[H8799]
[6]In the morning it flourisheth and groweth, but in the evening it is cut down and withereth. [6]In the morningH1242 it flourishethH6692[H8686], and groweth upH2498[H8804]; in the eveningH6153 it is cut downH4135[H8787], and witherethH3001.[H8804]
[7]For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled. [7]For we are consumedH3615[H8804] by thine angerH639, and by thy wrathH2534 are we troubledH926.[H8738]
[8]Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, and our secret sins in the light of thy countenance. [8]Thou hast setH7896[H8804] our iniquitiesH5771 before thee, our secretH5956[H8803] sins in the lightH3974 of thy countenanceH6440.
[9]For all our days are past in thine anger: we have spent our years as a thought. [9]For all our daysH3117 are passed awayH6437[H8804] in thy wrathH5678: we spendH3615[H8765] our yearsH8141 as a tale that is toldH1899.
[10]The time of our life is threescore years and ten, and if they be of strength, fourscore years: yet their strength is but labor and sorrow: for it is cut off quickly, and we flee away. [10]The daysH3117 of our yearsH8141 are threescoreH7657 yearsH8141 and tenH7657; and if by reason of strengthH1369 they be fourscoreH8084 yearsH8141, yet is their strengthH7296 labourH5999 and sorrowH205; for it is soonH2440 cut offH1468[H8804], and we fly awayH5774.[H8799]
[11]Who knoweth the power of thy wrath? For according to thy fear is thine anger. [11]Who knowethH3045[H8802] the powerH5797 of thine angerH639? even according to thy fearH3374, so is thy wrathH5678.
[12]Teach us so to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. [12]So teachH3045[H8685] us to numberH4487[H8800] our daysH3117, that we may applyH935[H8686] our heartsH3824 unto wisdomH2451.
[13]Return (O Lord, how long?) and be pacified toward thy servants. [13]ReturnH7725[H8798], O LORDH3068, how long? and let it repentH5162[H8734] thee concerning thy servantsH5650.
[14]Fill us with thy mercy in the morning: so shall we rejoice and be glad all our days. [14]O satisfyH7646[H8761] us earlyH1242 with thy mercyH2617; that we may rejoiceH7442[H8762] and be gladH8055[H8799] all our daysH3117.
[15]Comfort us according to the days that thou hast afflicted us, and according to the years that we have seen evil. [15]Make us gladH8055[H8761] according to the daysH3117 wherein thou hast afflictedH6031[H8765] us, and the yearsH8141 wherein we have seenH7200[H8804] evilH7451.
[16]Let thy work be seen toward thy servants, and thy glory upon their children. [16]Let thy workH6467 appearH7200[H8735] unto thy servantsH5650, and thy gloryH1926 unto their childrenH1121.
[17]And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us, and direct thou the work of our hands upon us, even direct the work of our hands. [17]And let the beautyH5278 of the LORDH3068 our GodH430 be upon us: and establishH3559[H8786] thou the workH4639 of our handsH3027 upon us; yea, the workH4639 of our handsH3027 establishH3559 thou itH8786.
