| [1]But speke thou tho thingis that bisemen hoolsum teching; |
[1]But speak thou that which becometh sound doctrine, |
| [2]that elde men be sobre, chast, prudent, hool in feith, in loue, and pacience; |
[2]And teach, That the elders be watchful in their minds, and be chaste and pure, and sound in the faith, and in charity, and in patience. |
| [3]also olde wymmen in hooli abite, not sclaundereris, not seruynge myche to wyn, wel techynge, that thei teche prudence. |
[3]And so also the aged women, that they be in behaviour what becometh the fear of Aloha, and not slanderers, nor enslaved to much wine, and that they teach good things; |
| [4]Moneste thou yonge wymmen, that thei loue here hosebondis, that thei loue her children; |
[4]Making those who are young modest, to love their husbands and their children, |
| [5]and that thei be prudent, chast, sobre, hauynge cure of the hous, benygne, suget to her hosebondis, that the word of God be not blasfemyd. |
[5]And to be chaste and holy, well mindful of their houses, and submissive to their husbands, that no man blaspheme the word of Aloha. |
| [6]Also moneste thou yonge men, that thei be sobre. |
[6]And of those who are young men, likewise, require that they be chaste. |
| [7]In alle thingis yyue thi silf ensaumple of good werkis, in teching, in hoolnesse, in sadnesse. |
[7]But in every thing show thyself the example in all good works, and in doctrine let there be with thee sound speech |
| [8]An hoolsum word, and vnrepreuable; that he that is of the contrarie side, be aschamed, hauynge noon yuel thing to seie of you. |
[8]Which is sincere and incorrupt, and which no man will despise, that he who riseth against us may be ashamed when he cannot say any thing hateful against us. |
| [9]Moneste thou seruauntis to be suget to her lordis; in alle thingis plesinge, not ayenseiynge, not defraudynge, |
[9]Let servants to their masters be submissive in every thing, and please them, not contradicting, nor pilfering; |
| [10]but in alle thingis schewinge good feith, that thei onoure in alle thingis the doctryn of `God, oure sauyour. |
[10]But let them show their good-trustinessⓘ in every thing, that they may adorn in every thing the doctrine of Aloha our Saviour. |
| [11]For the grace of `God, oure sauyour, |
[11]FOR the all-saving grace of Alohaⓘ hath appeared to all men, |
| [12]hath apperid to alle men, and tauyte vs, that we forsake wickidnesse, and worldli desyris, lyue sobreli, and iustli, `and piteuousli in this world, |
[12]And teacheth us to deny wickedness and the lusts of the world, and to live in this world in purity, and in rectitude, and in the fear of Aloha, |
| [13]abidinge the blessid hope and the comyng of the glorie of the greet God, and of oure sauyour Jhesu Crist; |
[13]While expecting the blessed hope and the manifestation of the glory of the great God and our Saviour Jeshu Meshiha; |
| [14]that yaf hym silf for vs, to ayenbie vs fro al wickidnesse, and make clene to hym silf a puple acceptable, and suere of good werkis. |
[14]Who gave himself for us, to redeem us from all iniquity, and to cleanse unto himself a new people,ⓘ who are zealous of good works. |
| [15]Speke thou these thingis, and moneste thou, and repreue thou with al comaundement; no man dispise thee. |
[15]These speak, and require,ⓘ and maintain with all authority, and no man shall despise thee. |
