[1]OpenH6605[H8798] thy doorsH1817, O LebanonH3844, that the fireH784 may devourH398[H8799] thy cedarsH730. [1]Open thy doors, O Lebanon, that the fire may devour thy cedars.
[2]HowlH3213[H8685], fir treeH1265; for the cedarH730 is fallenH5307[H8804]; because the mightyH117 are spoiledH7703[H8795]: howlH3213[H8685], O ye oaksH437 of BashanH1316; for the forestH3293 of the vintageH1208[H8675][H1219][H8803] is come downH3381.[H8804] [2]Wail, O cypress-tree, for the cedar is fallen; because the glorious ones are spoiled; wail, O ye oaks of Bashan, for the strong forest is come down.
[3]There is a voiceH6963 of the howlingH3215 of the shepherdsH7462[H8802]; for their gloryH155 is spoiledH7703[H8795]: a voiceH6963 of the roaringH7581 of young lionsH3715; for the prideH1347 of JordanH3383 is spoiledH7703.[H8795] [3]Hark! the wailing of the shepherds, for their glory is spoiled; Hark! the roaring of young lions, for the thickets of the Jordan are spoiled.
[4]Thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068 my GodH430; FeedH7462[H8798] the flockH6629 of the slaughterH2028; [4]Thus said ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎ my God: 'Feed the flock of slaughter;
[5]Whose possessorsH7069[H8802] slayH2026[H8799] them, and hold themselves not guiltyH816[H8799]: and they that sellH4376[H8802] them sayH559[H8799], BlessedH1288[H8803] be the LORDH3068; for I am richH6238[H8686]: and their own shepherdsH7462[H8802] pityH2550 them notH8799. [5]Whose buyers slay them, and hold themselves not guilty; and they that sell them say Blessed be ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎, for I am rich; and their own shepherds pity them not.
[6]For I will no more pityH2550[H8799] the inhabitantsH3427[H8802] of the landH776, saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068: but, lo, I will deliverH4672[H8688] the menH120 every oneH376 into his neighbour'sH7453 handH3027, and into the handH3027 of his kingH4428: and they shall smiteH3807[H8765] the landH776, and out of their handH3027 I will not deliverH5337 themH8686. [6]For I will no more pity the inhabitants of the land, saith ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎; but, lo, I will deliver the men every one into his neighbour's hand, and into the hand of his king; and they shall smite the land, and out of their hand I will not deliver them.'
[7]And I will feedH7462[H8799] the flockH6629 of slaughterH2028, even youH3651, O poorH6041 of the flockH6629. And I tookH3947[H8799] unto me twoH8147 stavesH4731; the oneH259 I calledH7121[H8804] BeautyH5278, and the otherH259 I calledH7121[H8804] BandsH2254[H8802]; and I fedH7462[H8799] the flockH6629. [7]So I fed the flock of slaughter, verily the poor of the flock. And I took unto me two staves; the one I called Graciousness, and the other I called Binders; and I fed the flock.
[8]ThreeH7969 shepherdsH7462[H8802] also I cut offH3582[H8686] in oneH259 monthH3391; and my soulH5315 lothedH7114[H8799] them, and their soulH5315 also abhorredH973 meH8804. [8]And I cut off the three shepherds in one month; 'for My soul became impatient of them, and their soul also loathed Me.'
[9]Then saidH559[H8799] I, I will not feedH7462[H8799] you: that that diethH4191[H8801], let it dieH4191[H8799]; and that that is to be cut offH3582[H8737], let it be cut offH3582[H8735]; and let the restH7604[H8737] eatH398[H8799] every oneH802 the fleshH1320 of anotherH7468. [9]Then said I: 'I will not feed you; that which dieth, let it die; and that which is to be cut off, let it be cut off; and let them that are left eat every one the flesh of another.'
[10]And I tookH3947[H8799] my staffH4731, even BeautyH5278, and cut it asunderH1438[H8799], that I might breakH6565[H8687] my covenantH1285 which I had madeH3772[H8804] with all the peopleH5971. [10]And I took my staff Graciousness, and cut it asunder, 'that I might break My covenant which I had made with all the peoples.'
[11]And it was brokenH6565[H8714] in that dayH3117: and so the poorH6041 of the flockH6629 that waitedH8104[H8802] upon me knewH3045[H8799] that it was the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068. [11]And it was broken in that day; and the poor of the flock that gave heed unto me knew of a truth that it was the word of ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎.
[12]And I saidH559[H8799] unto them, If ye thinkH5869 goodH2896, giveH3051[H8798] me my priceH7939; and if not, forbearH2308[H8798]. So they weighedH8254[H8799] for my priceH7939 thirtyH7970 pieces of silverH3701. [12]And I said unto them: 'If ye think good, give me my hire; and if not, forbear.' So they weighed for my hire thirty pieces of silver.
[13]And the LORDH3068 saidH559[H8799] unto me, CastH7993[H8685] it unto the potterH3335[H8802]: a goodlyH145 priceH3366 that I was prised atH3365[H8804] of them. And I tookH3947[H8799] the thirtyH7970 pieces of silverH3701, and castH7993[H8686] them to the potterH3335[H8802] in the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068. [13]And ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎ said unto me: 'Cast it into the treasury, the goodly price that I was prized at of them.' And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them into the treasury, in the house of ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎.
[14]Then I cut asunderH1438[H8799] mine otherH8145 staffH4731, even BandsH2254[H8802], that I might breakH6565[H8687] the brotherhoodH264 between JudahH3063 and IsraelH3478. [14]Then I cut asunder mine other staff, even Binders, that the brotherhood between Judah and Israel might be broken.
[15]And the LORDH3068 saidH559[H8799] unto me, TakeH3947[H8798] unto thee yet the instrumentsH3627 of a foolishH196 shepherdH7462.[H8802] [15]And ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎ said unto me: 'Take unto thee yet the instruments of a foolish shepherd.
[16]For, lo, I will raise upH6965[H8688] a shepherdH7462[H8802] in the landH776, which shall not visitH6485[H8799] those that be cut offH3582[H8737], neither shall seekH1245[H8762] the young oneH5289, nor healH7495[H8762] that that is brokenH7665[H8737], nor feedH3557[H8770] that that standethH5324[H8737] still: but he shall eatH398[H8799] the fleshH1320 of the fatH1277, and tearH6561 their clawsH6541 in piecesH6561.[H8762] [16]For, lo, I will raise up a shepherd in the land, who will not think of those that are cut off, neither will seek those that are young, nor heal that which is broken; neither will he feed that which standeth still, but he will eat the flesh of the fat, and will break their hoofs in pieces.'
[17]WoeH1945 to the idolH457 shepherdH7473 that leavethH5800[H8802] the flockH6629! the swordH2719 shall be upon his armH2220, and upon his rightH3225 eyeH5869: his armH2220 shall be cleanH3001[H8800] dried upH3001[H8799], and his rightH3225 eyeH5869 shall be utterlyH3543[H8800] darkenedH3543.[H8799] [17]Woe to the worthless shepherd that leaveth the flock! The sword shall be upon his arm, and upon his right eye; his arm shall be clean dried up, and his right eye shall be utterly darkened.
