| [1]And I lift up mine eyes, and look, and lo, a man, and in his hand a measuring line. |
[1]And I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and behold four horns. |
| [2]And I say, `Whither are thou going?' And he saith unto me, `To measure Jerusalem, to see how much [is] its breadth, and how much its length.' |
[2]And I said unto the angel that spoke with me: 'What are these?' And he said unto me: 'These are the horns which have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.' |
| [3]And lo, the messenger who is speaking with me is going out, and another messenger is going out to meet him, |
[3]And 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 showed me four craftsmen. |
| [4]and he saith unto him, `Run, speak unto this young man, saying: Unwalled villages inhabit doth Jerusalem, From the abundance of man and beast in her midst. |
[4]Then said I: 'What come these to do?' And he spoke, saying: 'These—the horns which scattered Judah, so that no man did lift up his head—these then are come to frighten them, to cast down the horns of the nations, which lifted up their horn against the land of Judah to scatter it.' |
| [5]And I -- I am to her -- an affirmation of Jehovah, A wall of fire round about, And for honour I am in her midst. |
[5]And I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and behold a man with a measuring line in his hand. |
| [6]Ho, ho, and flee from the land of the north, An affirmation of Jehovah, For, as the four winds of the heavens, I have spread you abroad, An affirmation of Jehovah. |
[6]Then said I: 'Whither goest thou?' And he said unto me: 'T measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth thereof, and what is the length thereof.' |
| [7]Ho, Zion, be delivered who art dwelling [with] the daughter of Babylon. |
[7]And, behold, the angel that spoke with me went forth, and another angel went out to meet him, |
| [8]For thus said Jehovah of Hosts: After honour He hath sent me unto the nations who are spoiling you, For he who is coming against you, Is coming against the daughter of His eye. |
[8]And said unto him: 'Run, speak to this young man, saying: 'Jerusalem shall be inhabited without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein. |
| [9]For lo, I am waving my hand against them, And they have been a spoil to their servants. And ye have known that Jehovah of Hosts hath sent me. |
[9]For I, saith 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and I will be the glory in the midst of her. |
| [10]Singe, and rejoice, O daughter of Zion, For lo, I am coming, and have dwelt in thy midst, An affirmation of Jehovah. |
[10]Ho, ho, flee then from the land of the north, saith 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇; for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heaven, saith 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇. |
| [11]And joined have been many nations unto Jehovah in that day, And they have been to Me for a people, And I have dwelt in thy midst, And thou hast known that Jehovah of Hosts hath sent me unto thee. |
[11]Ho, Zion, escape, thou that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon.' |
| [12]And Jehovah hath inherited Judah, His portion on the holy ground, And He hath fixed again on Jerusalem. |
[12]For thus saith 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 of hosts who sent me after glory unto the nations which spoiled you: 'Surely, he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye. |
| [13]Hush, all flesh, because of Jehovah, For He hath been roused up from His holy habitation!' |
[13]For, behold, I will shake My hand over them, and they shall be a spoil to those that served them'; and ye shall know that 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 of hosts hath sent me. |
| 14[No verse] |
[14]'Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion; for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇. |
| 15[No verse] |
[15]And many nations shall jo themselves to 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 in that day, and shall be My people, and I will dwell in the midst of thee'; and thou shalt know that 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 of hosts hath sent me unto thee. |
| 16[No verse] |
[16]And 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 shall inherit Judah as His portion in the holy land, and shall choose Jerusalem again. |
| 17[No verse] |
[17]Be silent, all flesh, before 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇; for He is aroused out of His holy habitation. |
