| [1]And I turn back, and lift up mine eyes, and look, and lo, four chariots are coming forth from between two of the mountains, and the mountains [are] mountains of brass. |
[1]AND I turned and lifted up my eyes and looked, and behold, there came four chariots out from between two mountains; and the mountains were mountains of brass. |
| [2]In the first chariot [are] red horses, and in the second chariot brown horses, |
[2]In the first chariot were red horses; in the second chariot black horses; |
| [3]and in the third chariot white horses, and in the fourth chariot strong grisled horses. |
[3]In the third chariot white horses; and in the fourth chariot grizzled horses. |
| [4]And I answer and say unto the messenger who is speaking with me, `What [are] these, my lord?' |
[4]Then I answered and said to the angel who talked with me, What are these, my lord? |
| [5]And the messenger answereth and saith unto me, `These [are] four spirits of the heavens coming forth from presenting themselves before the Lord of the whole earth. |
[5]And the angel answered and said to me, These are the four spirits of the heavens, who stand in the presence of the LORD of all the earth. |
| [6]The brown horses that [are] therein, are coming forth unto the land of the north; and the white have come forth unto their hinder part; and the grisled have come forth unto the land of the south; |
[6]The chariot in which are black horses goes forth to the north country; and the white go forth after them; and the grizzled go forth to the south country, |
| [7]and the strong ones have come forth, and they seek to go to walk up and down in the earth;' and he saith, `Go, walk up and down in the earth;' and they walk up and down in the earth. |
[7]And the red horses went forth, and sought to go that they might walk to and fro through the earth; and he said to them, Go, walk to and fro through the earth. So they walked to and fro through the earth. |
| [8]And he calleth me, and speaketh unto me, saying, `See, those coming forth unto the land of the north have caused My Spirit to rest in the land of the north.' |
[8]Then he cried and said to me, Behold, those who go toward the north country have quieted my spirit in the north country |
| [9]And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying, |
[9]And the word of the LORD came to me, saying, |
| [10]to take of the captivity (who came from Babylon) from Heldai, from Tobijah, and from Jedaiah, `and thou hast come in -- thou, in that day, yea, thou hast come into the house of Josiah son of Zephaniah, |
[10]Take of them of the captivity, even of Holdai and of Tobijah and of Jedaiah, and come the same day, and go into the house of Josiah the son of Zephaniah who has come from Babylon; |
| [11]and thou hast taken silver and gold, and hast made a crown, and hast placed on the head of Joshua son of Josedech, the high priest, |
[11]Then take his silver and his gold, and make a crown and set it upon the head of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest; |
| [12]and hast spoken unto him, saying: Thus spake Jehovah of Hosts, saying: Lo, a man! A Shoot -- [is] his name, And from his place he doth shoot up, And he hath built the temple of Jehovah. |
[12]And say to him, Thus says the LORD of hosts: Behold, the man whose name is Denkha shall rise up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD. |
| [13]Yea, he doth build the temple of Jehovah, And he doth bear away honour, And he hath sat and ruled on His throne, And hath been a priest on His throne, And a counsel of peace is between both. |
[13]Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne; and the counsel of peace shall be between them both. |
| [14]And the crown is to Helem, and to Tobijah, and to Jedaiah, and to Hen son of Zephaniah, for a memorial in the temple of Jehovah. |
[14]And the crown shall be to Holdai and to Tobiah and to Jedaiah and to Josiah the son of Zephaniah, for a memorial in the temple of the LORD. |
| [15]And the far-off come in, and they have built in the temple of Jehovah, and ye have known that Jehovah of Hosts hath sent me unto you, yea, it hath come to pass, if ye do certainly hearken to the voice of Jehovah your God.' |
[15]And those who are far off shall come and build in the temple of the LORD, and you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you. And this shall come to pass if you will diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God |
