| [1]ܘܲܗܘ̤ܵܐ ܒܲܫܢܲܬ̣ ܐܲܪܒܲܥ ܕܕܲܪܝܵܘܵܫ ܡܲܠܟܵܐ: ܗܘ̤ܵܐ ܦܸܬ̣ܓ̣ܵܡܹܗ ܕܡܵܪܝܵܐ ܥܲܠ ܙܟܲܪܝܵܐ: ܒܐܲܪܒܲܥܬ̣ܵܐ ܒܝܲܪܚܵܐ ܕܬܸܫܥܵܐ ܕܗ̤ܘ ܟܵܢܘܿܢ. |
[1]And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Darius, that the word of 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 came unto Zechariah in the fourth day of the ninth month, even in Chislev; |
| [2]ܘܫܲܕܲܪ ܠܒܹܝܬ̣ ܐܹܝܠ: ܠܫܵܪܵܐܨܵܪ ܘܪܲܒ̇ܡܵܓ̣: ܘܲܫܠܲܚ ܡܲܠܟܵܐ ܘܓܲܢ̄ܒܵܪ̈ܵܘܗܝ ܠܲܡܨܲܠܵܝܘܼ ܥܠܵܘܗܝ ܩܕ݂ܵܡ ܡܵܪܝܵܐ. |
[2]When Bethel-sarezer, and Regem-melech and his men, had sent to entreat the favour of 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇, |
| [3]ܘܲܠܡܹܐܡܲܪ ܠܟ݂ܵܗ̈ܢܹܐ ܕܲܒ̣ܒܲܝܬܹ̇ܗ ܕܡܵܪܝܵܐ ܚܲܝܠـܬ̣ܵܢܵܐ: ܘܠܲܢܒ̣ܝܹ̈ܐ: ܐܸܒ̣ܟܸ̇ܐ ܒܝܲܪܚܵܐ ܚܡܝܼܫܵܝܵܐ ܐܵܘ ܐܸܬ̣ܢ̱ܙܲܪ: ܐܲܝܟ݂ ܡܵܐ ܕܥܵܒܹ̇ܕ݂ ܗ̄ܘܹܝܬ̣ ܗܵܐ ܟܡܵܐ ܫܢ̈ܝܼܢ. |
[3]And to speak unto the priests of the house of 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 of hosts, and to the prophets, saying: 'Should I weep in the fifth month, separating myself, as I have done these so many years?' |
| [4]ܘܲܗܘ̤ܵܐ ܥܠܲܝ ܦܸܬ̣ܓ̣ܵܡܹܗ ܕܡܵܪܝܵܐ ܠܡܹܐܡܲܪ. |
[4]Then came the word of 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 of hosts unto me, saying: |
| [5]ܐܸܡܲܪ ܠܟ݂ܠܹܗ ܥܲܡܵܐ ܕܐܲܪܥܵܐ ܘܲܠܟ݂ܵܗܢܹ̈ܐ: ܕܨܵܡ̣ܬ̇ܘܿܢ ܘܐܲܪܩܸܕ̇ܬ̇ܘܿܢ ܒܝܲܪܚܵܐ ܚܡܝܼܫܵܝܵܐ ܘܲܫܒ̣ܝܼܥܵܝܵܐ: ܗܵܐ ܫܲܒ̣ܥܝܼܢ ܫ̈ܢܝܼܢ: ܕܲܠܡܵܐ ܨܵܘܡܵܐ ܨܵܡ̣ܬ̇ܘܿܢ ܠܝܼ. |
[5]'Speak unto all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying: When ye fasted and mourned in the fifth and in the seventh month, even these seventy years, did ye at all fast unto Me, even to Me? |
| [6]ܘܐܸܢ ܐܵܟ݂ܠܝܼܢ ܐ̄ܢ̇ܬ̇ܘܿܢ ܘܫܵܬܹ̇ܝܢ: ܘܠܵܐ ܗ̄ܘܼܵܐ ܐܲܢ̄ܬ̇ܘܿܢ ܐܵܟ݂ܠܝܼܢ ܘܫܵܬܹ̇ܝܢ. |
[6]And when ye eat, and when ye did drink, are ye not they that eat, and they that drink? |
| [7]ܗܵܠܹܝܢ ܐܸܢܹܝܢ ܡܸܠܹ̈ܐ ܕܐܲܟ݂ܪܸܙ ܡܵܪܝܵܐ ܒܐܝܼܕ݂ܵܐ ܕܲܢܒ̣ܝܹ̈ܐ ܩܲܕ݂ܡܵܝܹ̈ܐ: ܟܲܕ݂ ܝܵܬ̣ܒܵܐ ܗ̄ܘܼܵܬ̣ ܐܘܿܪܸܫܠܸܡ ܘܫܲܠܝܵܐ: ܘܩܘܼܪ̈ܝܵܐ ܚܕ݂ܝܼܪ̈ܵܢ ܠܵܗ̇: ܘܛܘܼܪܹ̈ܐ ܘܦܲܩ̈ܥܵܬ̣ܵܐ ܝܵܬ̣ܒ̇ܝܼܢ ܗ̄ܘܼܵܘ. |
[7]Should ye not hearken to the words which 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 hath proclaimed by the former prophets, wh Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and the cities thereof round about her, and the South and the Lowland were inhabited?' |
| [8]ܘܲܗܘ̤ܵܐ ܦܸܬ̣ܓ̣ܵܡܹܗ ܕܡܵܪܝܵܐ ܥܲܠ ܙܟܲܪܝܵܐ ܠܡܹܐܡܲܪ. |
[8]And the word of 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 came unto Zechariah, saying: |
| [9]ܗܵܟܲܢܵܐ ܐܵܡܲܪ ܡܵܪܝܵܐ ܚܲܝܠܬ̣ܵܢܵܐ: ܕܝܼܢܵܐ ܕܩܘܼܫܬܵܐ ܕܘܼܢܝ: ܘܛܲܝܒ̇ܘܼܬ̣ܵܐ ܘܪ̈ܲܚܡܹܐ ܥܒܸܕ݂ܘ ܐ̄ܢܵܫ ܥܲܡ ܐܲܚܘܼܗܝ. |
[9]'Thus hath 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 of hosts spoken, saying: Execute true judgment, and show mercy and compassion every man to his brother; |
| [10]ܘܠܲܐܪ̈ܡܠܵܬ̣ܵܐ ܘܲܠܝܲܬ̣ܡܹ̈ܐ: ܘܲܠܡܸܣܟܹ̇ܢܹ̈ܐ: ܘܠܲܕ݂ܡܸܬ̣ܦ̄ܢܸܐ ܠܘܵܬ̣ܝ ܠܵܐ ܬܸܥܠ̱ܒ̣ܘܼܢ: ܘܠܵܐ ܬܸܛܠ̱ܡܘܼܢ: ܘܒ̣ܝܼܫܬܵܐ ܓܒܲܪ ܥܲܠ ܐܲܚܘܼܗܝ ܠܵܐ ܬܸܬ̣ܚܲܫܒ̣ܘܼܢ ܒܠܸܒ̇ܟ݂ܘܿܢ. |
[10]And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you devise evil against his brother in your heart. |
| [11]ܘܠܵܐ ܨܒ̣ܵܘ ܠܡܸܫ̱ܡܥܲܢܝ: ܘܲܥ̣ܒܲܕ݂ܘ ܟܲܬ̣ܦܗܘܿܢ ܡܵܪܘܿܕ̇ܬܵܐ: ܘܐܸܕ݂ܢܲܝ̈ܗܘܿܢ ܣܲܟܲܪܘ ܕܠܵܐ ܢܸܫ̱ܡܥܘܿܢ. |
[11]But they refused to attend, and turned stubborn shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they might not hear. |
| [12]ܘܠܸܒ̇ܗܘܿܢ ܥ̣ܒܲܕ݂ܘ ܐܲܝܟ݂ ܫܵܡܝܼܪܵܐ: ܕܠܵܐ ܢܸܫ̱ܡܥܘܼܢ ܢܵܡܘܿܣܹ̈ܐ ܘܦܘܼܩ̈ܕܵܢܹܐ: ܕܫܲܕܲܪ ܡܵܪܝܵܐ ܚܲܝܠܬ̣ܵܢܵܐ ܒܪܘܼܚܹܗ ܒܝܲܕ݂ ܢܒ̣̈ܝܹܐ ܩܲܕ݂ܡܵܝܹ̈ܐ: ܘܲܗܘ̤ܵܐ ܪܘܼܓ̣ܙܵܐ ܪܲܒܵܐ ܡ̣ܢ ܩܕ݂ܵܡ ܡܵܪܝܵܐ ܚܲܝܠܬ̣ܵܢܵܐ. |
[12]Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 of hosts had sent by His spirit by the hand of the former prophets; therefore came there great wrath from 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 of hosts. |
| [13]ܥܲܠ ܕܲܩܪܹܝ̇ܬ̣ ܐܸܢܘܿܢ ܘܠܵܐ ܫܡܲܥ̣ܘ: ܗܵܟܲܢܵܐ ܢܸܩܪܘܿܢܵܢܝ ܘܠܵܐ ܐܸܫܡܲܥ ܐܸܢܘܿܢ ܐܵܡܲܪ ܡܵܪܝܵܐ ܚܲܝܠܬ̣ܵܢܵܐ. |
[13]And it came to pass that, as He called, and they would not hear; so they shall call, and I will not hear, said 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 of hosts; |
| [14]ܘܐܹܒܲܕܲܪ ܐܸܢܘܿܢ ܒܟ݂ܠܗܘܿܢ ܥܲܡܡܹ̈ܐ ܕܠܵܐ ܝܑܼܕܲܥ̣ܘ ܐܸܢܘܿܢ: ܘܐܲܪܥܵܐ ܬܸܨܕܹ̇ܐ ܒܵܬܲܪܗܘܿܢ ܡ̣ܢ ܒܠܲܝ ܕܥܵܒܲܪ ܘܲܕ̇ܬ̣ܵܐܹܒ̣: ܥܲܠ ܕܲܥ̣ܒܲܕ݂ܘ ܐܲܪܥܵܐ ܕܪܸܓ̇ܬ̣ܵܐ ܠܚܘܼܪܒܵܐ. |
[14]But I will scatter them with a whirlwind among all the nations whom they have not known. Thus the land was desolate after them, so that no man passed through nor returned; for they laid the pleasant land desolate.' |
