Peshitta NT (Murdock, 1852)
PesNT(Mur)
Peshitta (Lamsa, 1933)
Pes(Lam)
[1]And as to the collection for the saints, as I directed the churches of the Galatians, so do ye. [1]NOW concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, likewise do you also.
[2]On each first day of the week, let every one of you lay aside and preserve at home, what he is able; that there may be no collections when I come. [2]Upon the first day of every week, let each of you put aside and keep in his house whatever he can afford, so that there may be no collections when I come.
[3]And when I come, those whom ye shall select, I will send with a letter, to carry your bounty to Jerusalem. [3]And when I come, whomsoever you may select, I will send with a letter, to carry your gracious gift to Jerusalem.
[4]And if it should be suitable that I also go, they shall go with me. [4]And if it is right that I go also, they shall go with me.
[5]And I will come to you, when I pass from Macedonia; for I am about to pass through Macedonia. [5]I will come to you, when I pass through Mac-e-do'ni-a; for I do pass through Mace- do'ni-a.
[6]And perhaps I shall remain with you, or winter with you; that ye may accompany me whither I go. [6]And perhaps I will remain some time with you, or pass the winter with you, so that you may escort me withersoever I go.
[7]For I am not disposed to see you now, as I pass along; because I hope to spend some time with you, if my Lord permit me. [7]For I do not want to see you now just as a wayfarer; because I trust to tarry for a time with you, if my LORD permit me.
[8]For I shall continue at Ephesus until Pentecost: [8]But I will tarry at Eph'e-sus until Pentecost.
[9]because a great door is opened to me, which is full of occupations; and the opposers are numerous. [9]For a great door, full of opportunities, is opened to me, and adversaries are many.
[10]And if Timothy come to you, see that he may be without fear among you; for he doeth the work of the Lord, as I do. [10]Now if Ti-mo'the-us come, see that he may be with you without fear: for he is engaged in the LORD's work, just as I am.
[11]Therefore, let no one despise him; but conduct him on in peace, that he may come to me; for I wait for him with the brethren. [11]Let no man therefore despise him: but escort him in peace, that he may come to me: for I wait for him with the brethren.
[12]As for Apollos, my brethren, I entreated him much to go with the brethren to you; but his inclination was not to go to you now; but when he shall have opportunity, he will go to you. [12]My brethren, as for Apollos, I have often begged him to visit you with the brethren: probably it was not intended that he should come to you; but he will come to you when he has an opportunity.
[13]Watch ye, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be valiant. [13]Watch, stand firm in the faith, quit you like men, be valiant, be strong.
[14]Let all your affairs be conducted with love. [14]Let all your deeds be done with love.
[15]I beseech you, my brethren, concerning the household of Stephanas; (for ye know, that they were the first-fruits of Achaia, and that they have devoted themselves to ministering to the saints ;) [15]I beseech you, my brethren, concerning the household of Stephanas, for you know that they were the first converts from Acha'ia and that they have devoted themselves to the ministry of the saints,
[16]that ye also give ear to them who are such; and to every one, that laboreth with us and aideth. [16]That you may listen to all those who are as they are, and to every one who labors with us and is of help.
[17]And I rejoice at the arrival of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus: for they have supplied that wherein ye were deficient towards me. [17]I am glad of the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus: for that which was lacking on your part, they have supplied.
[18]And they have refreshed my spirit, and yours: therefore acknowledge ye them who are such. [18]For they have refreshed my spirit as well as yours: therefore recognize them who are similar.
[19]All the churches that are in Asia, salute you. Aquila and Priscilla, with the church in their house, salute you much in the Lord. [19]All the churches of Asia Minor salute you. Aquila and Priscilla salute you much in our LORD, with the congregation that meets in their house.
[20]All the brethren salute you. Salute ye one another with a holy kiss. [20]All the brethren greet you. Greet one another with a holy kiss.
[21]The salutation in the handwriting of myself, Paul. [21]This salutation is from me, Paul, in my own handwriting.
[22]Whoever loveth not our Lord Jesus the Messiah, let him be accursed: our Lord cometh. [22]Whoever does not love our LORD Jesus Christ, let him be accursed. Maranatha, that is to say, our LORD has come.
[23]The grace of our Lord Jesus the Messiah be with you. [23]The grace of our LORD Jesus Christ be with you.
[24]And my love be with you all, in the Messiah, Jesus. Amen.End of the first epistle to the Corinthians; which was written at Philippi of Macedonia, and was sent by the hand of Timothy. [24]My love be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen.
