YLT
Peshitta NT (Murdock, 1852)
PesNT(Mur)
[1]Dare any one of you, having a matter with the other, go to be judged before the unrighteous, and not before the saints? [1]Dare any of you, when he hath a controversy with his brother, litigate before the iniquitous, and not before the sanctified?
[2]have ye not known that the saints shall judge the world? and if by you the world is judged, are ye unworthy of the smaller judgments? [2]Or know ye not, that the sanctified will judge the world? And if the world will be judged by you, are ye unfit to decide trivial causes?
[3]have ye not known that we shall judge messengers? why not then the things of life? [3]Know ye not, that we shall judge angels? How much more things that are of the world?
[4]of the things of life, indeed, then, if ye may have judgment, those despised in the assembly -- these cause ye to sit; [4]But if ye have a controversy about a worldly matter, seat ye on the bench for you those who are contemned in the church !
[5]unto your shame I speak: so there is not among you one wise man, not even one, who shall be able to discern in the midst of his brethren! [5]For shame to you I say [it]. So, there is not even one wise man among you, who is competent to do equity between a brother and his brother:
[6]but brother with brother doth go to be judged, and this before unbelievers! [6]but a brother litigateth with his brother, and also before them that believe not !
[7]Already, indeed, then, there is altogether a fault among you, that ye have judgments with one another; wherefore do ye not rather suffer injustice? wherefore be ye not rather defrauded? [7]Now therefore ye condemn yourselves, in that ye have litigation one with another. For why do ye not rather suffer wrong? why not rather be defrauded?
[8]but ye -- ye do injustice, and ye defraud, and these -- brethren! [8]But ye yourselves commit wrong, and ye defraud even your brethren.
[9]have ye not known that the unrighteous the reign of God shall not inherit? be not led astray; neither whoremongers, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor sodomites, [9]Or do ye not know, that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not mistake; neither whoremongers, nor idol-worshippers, nor adulterers, nor debauchers, nor liers with males,
[10]nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, the reign of God shall inherit. [10]nor the avaricious, nor thieves, nor drunkards, nor railers, nor extortioners, will inherit the kingdom of God.
[11]And certain of you were these! but ye were washed, but ye were sanctified, but ye were declared righteous, in the name of the Lord Jesus, and in the Spirit of our God. [11]And these things have been in some of you: but ye are washed, and are sanctified, and made righteous, in the name of our Lord Jesus the Messiah, and by the Spirit of our God.
[12]All things are lawful to me, but all things are not profitable; all things are lawful to me, but I -- I will not be under authority by any; [12]Every thing is in my power : but every thing is not profitable to me. Every thing is in my power; but none [of them] shall have dominion over me.
[13]the meats [are] for the belly, and the belly for the meats. And God both this and these shall make useless; and the body [is] not for whoredom, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body; [13]Food is for the belly; and the belly is for food; but God will bring them both to naught. But the body is not for whoredom, but for our Lord; and our Lord for the body.
[14]and God both the Lord did raise, and us will raise up through His power. [14]And God hath raised up our Lord; and he will raise us up, by his power.
[15]Have ye not known that your bodies are members of Christ? having taken, then, the members of the Christ, shall I make [them] members of an harlot? let it be not! [15]Know ye not, that your bodies are the members of the Messiah? Shall one take a member of the Messiah, and make it the member of a harlot? Far be it.
[16]have ye not known that he who is joined to the harlot is one body? `for they shall be -- saith He -- the two for one flesh.' [16]Or know ye not, that whoever joineth himself to a harlot, is one body [with her]? For it is said, They twain shall be one body.
[17]And he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit; [17]But he that joineth himself to our Lord, is with him one spirit.
[18]flee the whoredom; every sin -- whatever a man may commit -- is without the body, and he who is committing whoredom, against his own body doth sin. [18]Flee whoredom. For every [other] sin which a man committeth, is external to his body; but he that committeth whoredom, sinneth against his own body.
[19]Have ye not known that your body is a sanctuary of the Holy Spirit in you, which ye have from God? and ye are not your own, [19]Or know ye not, that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who abideth in you, whom ye have received from God? And ye are not your own.
[20]for ye were bought with a price; glorify, then, God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's. [20]For ye are bought with a price. Therefore, glorify ye God, with your body, and with your spirit, which are God's.
