| [1]Trustworthy is the saying that if a man desires eldership a work good he desires |
[1]A feithful word. If ony man desirith a bishopriche, he desirith a good werk. |
| [2]And ought but to be an elder such that a fault not is found in him and be a husband of one woman which of vigilant mind and sober and orderly and loves strangers and is a teacher |
[2]Therfor it bihoueth a byschop to be with out repreef, the hosebonde of o wijf, sobre, prudent, chast, vertewous, holdinge hospitalite, a techere; |
| [3]And not he transgresses concerning wine and not is swift his hand to strike but should be humble and not contentious neither loves money |
[3]not youun myche to wyn, not a smytere, but temperat, not ful of chiding, not coueitouse, wel reulinge his hous, |
| [4]And he leads his house well and holds his children in subjection in all purity |
[4]and haue sones suget with al chastite; |
| [5]If for the house of himself not he knows to lead well how? can he the church of Alaha lead |
[5]for if ony man kan not gouerne his house, hou schal he haue diligence of the chirche of God? not new conuertid to the feith, |
| [6]Neither shall he be a youth of his discipleship lest he be lifted up and would fall into the judgment of Satan |
[6]lest he be borun vp in to pride, and falle in to doom of the deuel. |
| [7]And there ought but that also testimony excellent be to him from outsiders lest he fall into shame and into the trap of Satan |
[7]For it bihoueth hym to haue also good witnessing of hem that ben with outforth, that he falle not in to repreef, and in to the snare of the deuel. |
| [8]And also ministers in this way shall be pure and not should speak two things neither shall they be inclined to wine much nor love riches defiled |
[8]Also it bihoueth dekenes to be chast, not double tungid, not youun myche to wyn, not suynge foul wynnyng; |
| [9]But they should hold the mystery of the faith in a conscience pure |
[9]that han the mysterie of feith in clene conscience. |
| [10]And those such should be proved first and then let them serve when they are without fault |
[10]But be thei preued first, and mynystre so, hauynge no cryme. |
| [11]In this way also wives should be modest and will be alert in their minds and shall be faithful in every thing and not they should be ? slanderers |
[11]Also it bihoueth wymmen to be chast, not bacbitinge, sobre, feithful in alle thingis. |
| [12]Ministers shall be he who one woman has to him and leads his children and his house well |
[12]Dekenes be hosebondis of o wijf; whiche gouerne wel her sones and her housis. |
| [13]Those for who serve well a rank good purchase for themselves and opening of face much in the faith of Ieshu The Messiah |
[13]For thei that mynystren wel, schulen gete a good degre to hem silf, and myche triste in the feith, that is in Crist Jhesu. |
| [14]These things have written I to you while hope I that soon shall come I to you |
[14]Sone Timothe, Y write to thee these thingis, hopinge that Y schal come soon to thee; |
| [15]And if it is but that delay I that you may know how it is necessary to behave in the household of Alaha which is the church of Alaha The Living the pillar and foundation of the truth |
[15]but if Y tarie, that thou wite, hou it bihoueth thee to lyue in the hous of God, that is the chirche of lyuynge God, a pilere and sadnesse of treuthe. |
| [16]And truly great is mystery this of righteousness which was revealed in the flesh and was justified in The Spirit and He appeared to angels and was preached among the nations and He was trusted in the world and He ascended into the glory |
[16]And opynli it is a greet sacrament of pitee, that thing that was schewid in fleisch, it is iustified in spirit, it apperid to aungels, it is prechid to hethene men, it is bileuyd in the world, it is takun vp in glorie. |
