[1]Rebuke not an Elder, but exhort him as a father, and the younger men as brethren, [1]RebukeG1969[G5661] notG3361 an elderG4245, butG235 intreatG3870[G5720] him asG5613 a fatherG3962; and the younger menG3501 asG5613 brethrenG80;
[2]The elder women as mothers, the younger as sisters, with all pureness. [2]The elder womenG4245 asG5613 mothersG3384; the youngerG3501 asG5613 sistersG79, withG1722 allG3956 purityG47.
[3]Honor widows, which are widows indeed. [3]HonourG5091[G5720] widowsG5503 that are widowsG5503 indeedG3689.
[4]But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to show godliness toward their own house, and to recompense their kindred: for that is an honest thing and acceptable before God. [4]ButG1161 if anyG1536 widowG5503 haveG2192[G5719] childrenG5043 orG2228 nephewsG1549, let them learnG3129[G5720] firstG4412 to shew pietyG2151[G5721] at homeG2398[G3624], andG2532 to requiteG287[G591][G5721] their parentsG4269: forG1063 thatG5124 isG2076[G5748] goodG2570 andG2532 acceptableG587 beforeG1799 GodG2316.
[5]And she that is a widow indeed and left alone, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day. [5]NowG1161 she that is a widowG5503 indeedG3689, andG2532 desolateG3443[G5772], trustethG1679[G5758] inG1909 GodG2316, andG2532 continuethG4357[G5719] in supplicationsG1162 andG2532 prayersG4335 nightG3571 andG2532 dayG2250.
[6]But she that liveth in pleasure, is dead, while she liveth. [6]ButG1161 she that liveth in pleasureG4684[G5723] is deadG2348[G5758] while she livethG2198.[G5723]
[7]These things therefore command, that they may be blameless. [7]AndG2532 these thingsG5023 give in chargeG3853[G5720], thatG2443 they may beG5600[G5753] blamelessG423.
[8]If there be any that provideth not for his own, and namely for them of his household, he denieth the faith, and is worse then an infidel. [8]ButG1161 if anyG1536 provideG4306[G5719] notG3756 for his ownG2398, andG2532 speciallyG3122 for those of his own houseG3609, he hath deniedG720[G5763] the faithG4102, andG2532 isG2076[G5748] worse thanG5501 an infidelG571.
[9]Let not a widow be taken into the number under three score year old, that hath been the wife of one husband, [9]LetG2639 notG3361 a widowG5503 be taken into the numberG2639[G5744] underG1640 threescoreG1835 years oldG2094, having beenG1096[G5756] the wifeG1135 of oneG1520 manG435,
[10]And well reported of for good works: if she have nourished her children, if she have lodged the strangers, if she have washed the Saints' feet, if she have ministered unto them which were in adversity, if she were continually given unto every good work. [10]Well reported ofG3140[G5746] forG1722 goodG2570 worksG2041; ifG1487 she have brought upG5044[G5656] children, ifG1487 she have lodged strangersG3580[G5656], ifG1487 she have washedG3538[G5656] the saints'G40 feetG4228, ifG1487 she have relievedG1884[G5656] the afflictedG2346[G5746], ifG1487 she have diligently followedG1872[G5656] everyG3956 goodG18 workG2041.
[11]But refuse the younger widows: for when they have begun to wax wanton against Christ, they will marry, [11]ButG1161 the youngerG3501 widowsG5503 refuseG3868[G5737]: forG1063 whenG3752 they have begun to wax wanton againstG2691[G5661] ChristG5547, they willG2309[G5719] G1060marryG5721;
[12]Having damnation, because they have broken the first faith. [12]HavingG2192[G5723] damnationG2917, becauseG3754 they have cast offG114[G5656] their firstG4413 faithG4102.
[13]And likewise also being idle they learn to go about from house to house: yea, they are not only idle, but also prattlers and busybodies, speaking things which are not comely. [13]AndG1161[G2532] withalG260 they learnG3129[G5719] to be idleG692, wandering aboutG4022[G5740] from house to houseG3614; andG1161 notG3756 onlyG3440 idleG692, butG235 tattlersG5397 alsoG2532 andG2532 busybodiesG4021, speakingG2980[G5723] things whichG3588 they oughtG1163[G5752] notG3361.
[14]I will therefore that the younger women marry, and bear children, and govern the house, and give none occasion to the adversary to speak evil. [14]I willG1014[G5736] thereforeG3767 that the younger womenG3501 marryG1060[G5721], bear childrenG5041[G5721], guide the houseG3616[G5721], giveG1325[G5721] noneG3367 occasionG874 to the adversaryG480[G5740] toG5484 speak reproachfullyG3059.
[15]For certain are already turned back after Satan. [15]ForG1063 someG5100 areG1624 alreadyG2235 turned asideG1624[G5648] afterG3694 SatanG4567.
[16]If any faithful man, or faithful woman have widows, let them minister unto them, and let not the Church be charged, that there may be sufficient for them that are widows indeed. [16]If anyG1536 manG4103 orG2228 woman that believethG4103 haveG2192[G5719] widowsG5503, let them relieveG1884[G5720] themG846, andG2532 letG916 notG3361 the churchG1577 be chargedG916[G5744]; thatG2443 it may relieveG1884[G5661] them that are widowsG5503 indeedG3689.
[17]Â The Elders that rule well, are worthy of double honor, specially they which labor in the word and doctrine, [17]LetG515 the eldersG4245 that ruleG4291[G5761] wellG2573 be counted worthyG515[G5744] of doubleG1362 honourG5092, especiallyG3122 they who labourG2872[G5723] inG1722 the wordG3056 andG2532 doctrineG1319.
[18]For the Scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn: and, The laborer is worthy of his wages. [18]ForG1063 the scriptureG1124 saithG3004[G5719], Thou shaltG5392 notG3756 muzzleG5392[G5692] the oxG1016 that treadeth out the cornG248[G5723]. AndG2532, The labourerG2040 is worthyG514 of hisG846 rewardG3408.
[19]Against an Elder receive none accusation, but under two or three witnesses. [19]AgainstG2596 an elderG4245 receiveG3858[G5737] notG3361 an accusationG2724, butG1508[G1622] beforeG1909 twoG1417 orG2228 threeG5140 witnessesG3144.
[20]Them that sin, rebuke openly, that the rest also may fear. [20]Them that sinG264[G5723] rebukeG1651[G5720] beforeG1799 allG3956, thatG2443 othersG3062 alsoG2532 mayG2192[G5725] fearG5401.
[21]Â I charge thee before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect Angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one to another, and do nothing partially. [21]I chargeG1263[G5736] thee beforeG1799 GodG2316, andG2532 the LordG2962 JesusG2424 ChristG5547, andG2532 the electG1588 angelsG32, thatG2443 thou observeG5442[G5661] these thingsG5023 withoutG5565 preferring one before anotherG4299, doingG4160[G5723] nothingG3367 byG2596 partialityG4346.
[22]Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure. [22]LayG2007 handsG5495 suddenlyG5030 onG2007[G5720] no manG3367, neitherG3366 be partakerG2841[G5720] of otherG245 men's sinsG266: keepG5083[G5720] thyselfG4572 pureG53.
[23]Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake, and thine often infirmities. [23]DrinkG5202 no longerG3371 waterG5202[G5720], butG235 useG5530[G5737] a littleG3641 wineG3631 forG1223 thyG4675 stomach's sakeG4751 andG2532 thineG4675 oftenG4437 infirmitiesG769.
[24]Some men's sins are open beforehand, and go before unto judgment: but some men's follow after. [24]SomeG5100 men'sG444 sinsG266 areG1526[G5748] open beforehandG4271, going beforeG4254[G5723] toG1519 judgmentG2920; andG1161[G2532] someG5100 men they follow afterG1872.[G5719]
[25]Likewise also the good works are manifest beforehand, and they that are otherwise, cannot be hid. [25]LikewiseG5615 alsoG2532 the goodG2570 worksG2041 of some areG2076[G5748] manifest beforehandG4271; andG2532 they that areG2192[G5723] otherwiseG247 cannotG3756[G1410][G5736] be hidG2928.[G5650]
