[1]WoeH1945 to them that are at easeH7600 in ZionH6726, and trustH982[H8802] in the mountainH2022 of SamariaH8111, which are namedH5344[H8803] chiefH7225 of the nationsH1471, to whom the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478 H935cameH8804 [1]Woe to them that are at ease in Zion and trust in the mountain of Samaria, which were famous at the beginning of the nations: and the house of Israel came to them.
[2]PassH5674[H8798] ye unto CalnehH3641, and seeH7200[H8798]; and from thence goH3212[H8798] ye to HamathH2574 the greatH7227[H8677][H2579]: then go downH3381[H8798] to GathH1661 of the PhilistinesH6430: be they betterH2896 than these kingdomsH4467? or their borderH1366 greaterH7227 than your borderH1366? [2]Go you unto Calneh, and see: and from thence go you to Hamath the great: then go down to Gath of the Philistines: be they better than these kingdoms? Or the border of their land greater than your border,
[3]Ye that put far awayH5077[H8764] the evilH7451 dayH3117, and cause the seatH7675[H8800] of violenceH2555 H5066to come nearH8686 [3]Ye that put far away the evil day, and approach to the seat of iniquity?
[4]That lieH7901[H8802] upon bedsH4296 of ivoryH8127, and stretchH5628[H8803] themselves upon their couchesH6210, and eatH398[H8802] the lambsH3733 out of the flockH6629, and the calvesH5695 out of the midstH8432 of the stallH4770; [4]They lie upon beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their beds, and eat the lambs of the flock, and the calves out of the stall.
[5]That chantH6527[H8802] to the soundH6310 of the violH5035, and inventH2803[H8804] to themselves instrumentsH3627 of musickH7892, like DavidH1732; [5]They sing to the sound of the viol: they invent to themselves instruments of music like David.
[6]That drinkH8354[H8802] wineH3196 in bowlsH4219, and anointH4886[H8799] themselves with the chiefH7225 ointmentsH8081: but they are not grievedH2470[H8738] for the afflictionH7667 of JosephH3130. [6]They drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the chief ointments, but no man is sorry for the affliction of Joseph.
[7]Therefore now shall they go captiveH1540[H8799] with the firstH7218 that go captiveH1540[H8802], and the banquetH4797 of them that stretchedH5628[H8803] themselves shall be removedH5493.[H8804] [7]Therefore now shall they go captive with the first that go captive, and the sorrow of them that stretched themselves, is at hand.
[8]The LordH136 GODH3069 hath swornH7650[H8738] by himselfH5315, saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068 the GodH430 of hostsH6635, I abhorH8374[H8764] the excellencyH1347 of JacobH3290, and hateH8130[H8804] his palacesH759: therefore will I deliver upH5462[H8689] the cityH5892 with all that is thereinH4393. [8]The Lord God hath sworn by himself, saith the Lord God of hosts, I abhor the excellency of Jacob, and hate his palaces: therefore will I deliver up the city with all that is therein.
[9]And it shall come to pass, if there remainH3498[H8735] tenH6235 menH582 in oneH259 houseH1004, that they shall dieH4191.[H8804] [9]And if there remain ten men in one house, they shall die.
[10]And a man's uncleH1730 shall take him upH5375[H8804], and he that burnethH5635[H8764] him, to bring outH3318[H8687] the bonesH6106 out of the houseH1004, and shall sayH559[H8804] unto him that is by the sidesH3411 of the houseH1004, Is there yet any with thee? and he shall sayH559[H8804], NoH657. Then shall he sayH559[H8804], Hold thy tongueH2013[H8761]: for we may not make mentionH2142[H8687] of the nameH8034 of the LORDH3068. [10]And his uncle shall take him up and burn him to carry out the bones out of the house, and shall say unto him, that is by the sides of the house, Is there yet any with thee? And he shall say, None. Then shall he say, Hold thy tongue: for we may not remember the name of the Lord.
[11]For, behold, the LORDH3068 commandethH6680[H8764], and he will smiteH5221[H8689] the greatH1419 houseH1004 with breachesH7447, and the littleH6996 houseH1004 with cleftsH1233. [11]For behold, the Lord commandeth, and he will smite the great house with breaches, and the little house with clefts.
[12]Shall horsesH5483 runH7323[H8799] upon the rockH5553? will one plowH2790[H8799] there with oxenH1241? for ye have turnedH2015[H8804] judgmentH4941 into gallH7219, and the fruitH6529 of righteousnessH6666 into hemlockH3939: [12]Shall horses run upon the rock? Or will one plow there with oxen? For ye have turned judgment into gall, and the fruit of righteousness into wormwood.
[13]Ye which rejoiceH8056 in a thingH1697 of noughtH3808, which sayH559[H8802], Have we not takenH3947[H8804] to us hornsH7161 by our own strengthH2392? [13]Ye rejoice in a thing of nought: ye say, Have not we gotten us horns by our own strength?
[14]But, behold, I will raise upH6965[H8688] against you a nationH1471, O houseH1004 of IsraelH3478, saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068 the GodH430 of hostsH6635; and they shall afflictH3905[H8804] you from the entering inH935[H8800] of HemathH2574 unto the riverH5158 of the wildernessH6160. [14]But behold, I will raise up against you a nation, O house of Israel, saith the Lord God of hosts: and they shall afflict you, from the entering in of Hamath unto the river of the wilderness.
