[1]These are the ordinances and the laws, which ye shall observe and do in the land (which the Lord God of thy fathers giveth thee to possess it) as long as ye live upon the earth. |
| [2]Ye shall utterlyH6[H8763] destroyH6[H8762] all the placesH4725, wherein the nationsH1471 whichH834 ye shall possessH3423[H8802] servedH5647[H8804] their godsH430, upon the highH7311[H8802] mountainsH2022, and upon the hillsH1389, and under every greenH7488 treeH6086: |
[2]Ye shall utterly destroy all the places wherein the nations which ye shall possess, served their gods upon the high mountains and upon the hills, and under every green tree. |
| [3]And ye shall overthrowH5422[H8765] their altarsH4196, and breakH7665[H8765] their pillarsH4676, and burnH8313[H8799] their grovesH842 with fireH784; and ye shall hew downH1438[H8762] the graven imagesH6456 of their godsH430, and destroyH6[H8765] the namesH8034 of them out of that placeH4725. |
[3]Also ye shall overthrow their altars, and break down their pillars, and burn their groves with fire: and ye shall hew down the graven images of their gods, and abolish their names out of that place. |
| [4]Ye shall not do soH6213[H8799] unto the LORDH3068 your GodH430. |
[4]Ye shall not do so unto the Lord your God, |
| [5]But unto the placeH4725 which the LORDH3068 your GodH430 shall chooseH977[H8799] out of all your tribesH7626 to putH7760[H8800] his nameH8034 there, even unto his habitationH7933 shall ye seekH1875[H8799], and thither thou shalt comeH935:[H8804] |
[5]But ye shall seek the place which the Lord your God shall choose out of all your tribes, to put his name there, and there to dwell, and thither thou shalt come, |
| [6]And thither ye shall bringH935[H8689] your burnt offeringsH5930, and your sacrificesH2077, and your tithesH4643, and heave offeringsH8641 of your handH3027, and your vowsH5088, and your freewill offeringsH5071, and the firstlingsH1062 of your herdsH1241 and of your flocksH6629: |
[6]And ye shall bring thither your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and the offering of your hands, and your vows, and your free offerings, and the firstborn of your kine and of your sheep. |
| [7]And there ye shall eatH398[H8804] beforeH6440 the LORDH3068 your GodH430, and ye shall rejoiceH8055[H8804] in all that ye putH4916 your handH3027 unto, ye and your householdsH1004, wherein the LORDH3068 thy GodH430 hath blessedH1288 theeH8765. |
[7]And there ye shall eat before the Lord your God, and ye shall rejoice in all that ye put your hand unto, both ye, and your households, because the Lord thy God hath blessed thee. |
| [8]Ye shall not doH6213[H8799] after all the things that we doH6213[H8802] here this dayH3117, every manH376 whatsoever is rightH3477 in his own eyesH5869. |
[8]Ye shall not do after all these things that we do here this day: that is, every man whatsoever seemeth him good in his own eyes. |
| [9]For ye are not as yet comeH935[H8804] to the restH4496 and to the inheritanceH5159, which the LORDH3068 your GodH430 givethH5414 youH8802. |
[9]For ye are not yet come to rest, and to the inheritance which the Lord thy God giveth thee. |
| [10]But when ye go overH5674[H8804] JordanH3383, and dwellH3427[H8804] in the landH776 which the LORDH3068 your GodH430 giveth you to inheritH5157[H8688], and when he giveth you restH5117[H8689] from all your enemiesH341[H8802] round aboutH5439, so that ye dwellH3427[H8804] in safetyH983; |
[10]But when ye go over Jordan, and dwell in the land, which the Lord your God hath given you to inherit, and when he hath given you rest from all your enemies round about, and ye dwell in safety, |
| [11]Then there shall be a placeH4725 which the LORDH3068 your GodH430 shall chooseH977[H8799] to cause his nameH8034 to dwellH7931[H8763] there; thither shall ye bringH935[H8686] all that I commandH6680[H8764] you; your burnt offeringsH5930, and your sacrificesH2077, your tithesH4643, and the heave offeringH8641 of your handH3027, and all your choiceH4005 vowsH5088 which ye vowH5087[H8799] unto the LORDH3068: |
[11]When there shall be a place which the Lord your God shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there, thither shall ye bring all that I command you: your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the offering of your hands, and all your special vows which ye vow unto the Lord: |
| [12]And ye shall rejoiceH8055[H8804] beforeH6440 the LORDH3068 your GodH430, ye, and your sonsH1121, and your daughtersH1323, and your menservantsH5650, and your maidservantsH519, and the LeviteH3881 that is within your gatesH8179; forasmuchH3588 as he hath no partH2506 nor inheritance with youH5159. |
[12]And ye shall rejoice before the Lord your God, ye, and your sons and your daughters, and your servants, and your maidens, and the Levite that is within your gates: for he hath no part nor inheritance with you. |
| [13]Take heedH8104[H8734] to thyself that thou offerH5927[H8686] not thy burnt offeringsH5930 in every placeH4725 that thou seestH7200:[H8799] |
[13]Take heed that thou offer not thy burnt offerings in every place that thou seest: |
| [14]But in the placeH4725 which the LORDH3068 shall chooseH977[H8799] in oneH259 of thy tribesH7626, there thou shalt offerH5927[H8686] thy burnt offeringsH5930, and there thou shalt doH6213[H8799] all that I commandH6680 theeH8764. |
[14]But in the place which the Lord shall choose in one of thy tribes, there thou shalt offer thy burnt offerings, and there thou shalt do all that I command thee. |
| [15]Notwithstanding thou mayest killH2076[H8799] and eatH398[H8804] fleshH1320 in all thy gatesH8179, whatsoever thy soulH5315 lusteth afterH185, according to the blessingH1293 of the LORDH3068 thy GodH430 which he hath givenH5414[H8804] thee: the uncleanH2931 and the cleanH2889 may eatH398[H8799] thereof, as of the roebuckH6643, and as of the hartH354. |
[15]Notwithstanding thou mayest kill and eat flesh in all thy gates, whatsoever thine heart desireth, according to the blessing of the Lord thy God which he hath given thee: both the unclean and the clean may eat thereof, as of the roebuck, and of the hart. |
| [16]Only ye shall not eatH398[H8799] the bloodH1818; ye shall pourH8210[H8799] it upon the earthH776 as waterH4325. |
[16]Only ye shall not eat the blood, but pour it upon the earth as water. |
| [17]Thou mayestH3201[H8799] not eatH398[H8800] within thy gatesH8179 the titheH4643 of thy cornH1715, or of thy wineH8492, or of thy oilH3323, or the firstlingsH1062 of thy herdsH1241 or of thy flockH6629, nor any of thy vowsH5088 which thou vowestH5087[H8799], nor thy freewill offeringsH5071, or heave offeringH8641 of thine handH3027: |
[17]Thou mayest not eat within thy gates the tithe of thy corn, nor of thy wine, nor of thine oil, nor the firstborn of thy kine, nor of thy sheep, neither any of thy vows which thou vowest, nor thy free offerings, nor the offering of thine hands, |
| [18]But thou must eatH398[H8799] them beforeH6440 the LORDH3068 thy GodH430 in the placeH4725 which the LORDH3068 thy GodH430 shall chooseH977[H8799], thou, and thy sonH1121, and thy daughterH1323, and thy manservantH5650, and thy maidservantH519, and the LeviteH3881 that is within thy gatesH8179: and thou shalt rejoiceH8055[H8804] beforeH6440 the LORDH3068 thy GodH430 in all that thou puttestH4916 thine hands untoH3027. |
[18]But thou shalt eat it before the Lord thy God, in the place which the Lord thy God shall choose, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy servant, and thy maid, and the Levite that is within thy gates: and thou shalt rejoice before the Lord thy God, in all that thou puttest thine hand to. |
| [19]Take heedH8104[H8734] to thyself that thou forsakeH5800[H8799] not the LeviteH3881 as long as thou livestH3117 upon the earthH127. |
[19]Beware, that thou forsake not the Levite, as long as thou livest upon the earth. |
| [20]When the LORDH3068 thy GodH430 shall enlargeH7337[H8686] thy borderH1366, as he hath promisedH1696[H8765] thee, and thou shalt sayH559[H8804], I will eatH398[H8799] fleshH1320, because thy soulH5315 longethH183[H8762] to eatH398[H8800] fleshH1320; thou mayest eatH398[H8799] fleshH1320, whatsoever thy soulH5315 lusteth afterH185. |
[20]When the Lord thy God shall enlarge thy border, as he hath promised thee, and thou shalt say, I will eat flesh, (because thine heart longeth to eat flesh) thou mayest eat flesh, whatsoever thine heart desireth. |
| [21]If the placeH4725 which the LORDH3068 thy GodH430 hath chosenH977[H8799] to putH7760[H8800] his nameH8034 there be too farH7368[H8799] from thee, then thou shalt killH2076[H8804] of thy herdH1241 and of thy flockH6629, which the LORDH3068 hath givenH5414[H8804] thee, as I have commandedH6680[H8765] thee, and thou shalt eatH398[H8804] in thy gatesH8179 whatsoever thy soulH5315 lusteth afterH185. |
[21]If the place which the Lord thy God hath chosen to put his name there, be far from thee, then thou shalt kill of thy bullocks, and of thy sheep which the Lord hath given thee, as I have commanded thee, and thou shalt eat in thy gates, whatsoever thine heart desireth. |
| [22]Even as the roebuckH6643 and the hartH354 is eatenH398[H8735], so thou shalt eatH398[H8799] them: the uncleanH2931 and the cleanH2889 shall eatH398[H8799] of them alikeH3162. |
[22]Even as the roebuck, and the hart is eaten, so shalt thou eat them. Both the unclean and the clean shall eat of them alike. |
| [23]Only be sureH2388[H8798] that thou eatH398[H8800] not the bloodH1818: for the bloodH1818 is the lifeH5315; and thou mayest not eatH398[H8799] the lifeH5315 with the fleshH1320. |
[23]Only be sure that thou eat not the blood: for the blood is the life, and thou mayest not eat the life with the flesh. |
| [24]Thou shalt not eatH398[H8799] it; thou shalt pourH8210[H8799] it upon the earthH776 as waterH4325. |
[24]Therefore thou shalt not eat it, but pour it upon the earth as water. |
| [25]Thou shalt not eatH398[H8799] it; that it may go wellH3190[H8799] with thee, and with thy childrenH1121 afterH310 thee, when thou shalt doH6213[H8799] that which is rightH3477 in the sightH5869 of the LORDH3068. |
[25]Thou shalt not eat it, that it may go well with thee; and with thy children after thee, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of the Lord: |
| [26]Only thy holy thingsH6944 which thou hast, and thy vowsH5088, thou shalt takeH5375[H8799], and goH935[H8804] unto the placeH4725 which the LORDH3068 shall chooseH977:[H8799] |
[26]But thine holy things which thou hast, and thy vows thou shalt take up, and come unto the place which the Lord shall choose. |
| [27]And thou shalt offerH6213[H8804] thy burnt offeringsH5930, the fleshH1320 and the bloodH1818, upon the altarH4196 of the LORDH3068 thy GodH430: and the bloodH1818 of thy sacrificesH2077 shall be poured outH8210[H8735] upon the altarH4196 of the LORDH3068 thy GodH430, and thou shalt eatH398[H8799] the fleshH1320. |
[27]And thou shalt make thy burnt offerings of the flesh, and of the blood upon the altar of the Lord thy God, and the blood of thine offerings shall be poured upon the altar of the Lord thy God, and thou shalt eat the flesh. |
| [28]ObserveH8104[H8798] and hearH8085[H8804] all these wordsH1697 which I commandH6680[H8764] thee, that it may go wellH3190[H8799] with thee, and with thy childrenH1121 afterH310 thee forH5704 everH5769, when thou doestH6213[H8799] that which is goodH2896 and rightH3477 in the sightH5869 of the LORDH3068 thy GodH430. |
[28]Take heed, and hear all these words which I command thee, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee forever, when thou doest that which is good and right in the sight of the Lord thy God. |
| [29]When the LORDH3068 thy GodH430 shall cut offH3772[H8686] the nationsH1471 from beforeH6440 thee, whither thou goestH935[H8802] to possessH3423[H8800] them, and thou succeedestH3423[H8804] them, and dwellestH3427[H8804] in their landH776; |
[29]When the Lord thy God shall destroy the nations before thee, whither thou goest to possess them, and thou shalt possess them and dwell in their land, |
| [30]Take heedH8104[H8734] to thyself that thou be not snaredH5367[H8735] by followingH310 them, afterH310 that they be destroyedH8045[H8736] from beforeH6440 thee; and that thou enquireH1875[H8799] not after their godsH430, sayingH559[H8800], How did these nationsH1471 serveH5647[H8799] their godsH430? even so will I doH6213[H8799] likewiseH1571. |
[30]Beware, lest thou be taken in a snare after them, after that they be destroyed before thee, and lest thou ask after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods, that I may do so likewise? |
| [31]Thou shalt not doH6213[H8799] so unto the LORDH3068 thy GodH430: for every abominationH8441 to the LORDH3068, which he hatethH8130[H8804], have they doneH6213[H8804] unto their godsH430; for even their sonsH1121 and their daughtersH1323 they have burntH8313[H8799] in the fireH784 to their godsH430. |
[31]Thou shalt not do so unto the Lord thy God: for all abomination, which the Lord hateth, have they done unto their gods: for they have burned both their sons and their daughters with fire to their gods. |
| [32]What thingH1697 soever I commandH6680[H8764] you, observeH8104[H8799] to doH6213[H8800] it: thou shalt not addH3254[H8686] thereto, nor diminishH1639 from itH8799. |
[32]Therefore whatsoever I command you, take heed you do it: thou shalt put nothing thereto, nor take ought there from. |
