| [1]And it came to pass in the eleventhH6249[H6240] yearH8141, in the firstH259 day of the monthH2320, that the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 came unto me, sayingH559,[H8800] |
[1]And in the eleventh year, in the first day of the month, the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, |
| [2]SonH1121 of manH120, because that TyrusH6865 hath saidH559[H8804] against JerusalemH3389, AhaH1889, she is brokenH7665[H8738] that was the gatesH1817 of the peopleH5971: she is turnedH5437[H8738] unto me: I shall be replenishedH4390[H8735], now she is laid wasteH2717:[H8717] |
[2]Son of man, because that Tyrus hath said against Jerusalem, Aha, the gate of the people is broken: it is turned unto me: for seeing she is desolate, I shall be replenished, |
| [3]Therefore thus saithH559[H8804] the LordH136 GODH3069; Behold, I am against thee, O TyrusH6865, and will cause manyH7227 nationsH1471 to come upH5927[H8689] against thee, as the seaH3220 causeth his wavesH1530 to come upH5927.[H8687] |
[3]Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I come against thee, O Tyrus, and I will bring up many nations against thee, as the sea mounteth up with his waves. |
| [4]And they shall destroyH7843[H8765] the wallsH2346 of TyrusH6865, and break downH2040[H8804] her towersH4026: I will also scrapeH5500[H8765] her dustH6083 from her, and makeH5414[H8804] her like the topH6706 of a rockH5553. |
[4]And they shall destroy the walls of Tyrus and break down her towers: I will also scrape her dust from her, and make her like the top of a rock. |
| [5]It shall be a place for the spreadingH4894 of netsH2764 in the midstH8432 of the seaH3220: for I have spokenH1696[H8765] it, saithH5002[H8803] the LordH136 GODH3069: and it shall become a spoilH957 to the nationsH1471. |
[5]Thou shalt be for the spreading of nets in the midst of the sea: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord God, and it shall be a spoil to the nations. |
| [6]And her daughtersH1323 which are in the fieldH7704 shall be slainH2026[H8735] by the swordH2719; and they shall knowH3045[H8804] that I am the LORDH3068. |
[6]And her daughters which are in the field, shall be slain by the sword, and they shall know that I am the Lord. |
| [7]For thus saithH559[H8804] the LordH136 GODH3069; Behold, I will bringH935[H8688] upon TyrusH6865 NebuchadrezzarH5019 kingH4428 of BabylonH894, a kingH4428 of kingsH4428, from the northH6828, with horsesH5483, and with chariotsH7393, and with horsemenH6571, and companiesH6951, and muchH7227 peopleH5971. |
[7]For thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I will bring upon Tyrus Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, a king of kings from the north, with horses and with chariots, and with horsemen, with a multitude and much people. |
| [8]He shall slayH2026[H8799] with the swordH2719 thy daughtersH1323 in the fieldH7704: and he shall makeH5414[H8804] a fortH1785 against thee, and castH8210[H8804] a mountH5550 against thee, and lift upH6965[H8689] the buckler against theeH6793. |
[8]He shall slay with the sword thy daughters in the field, and he shall make a fort against thee, and cast a mount against thee, and lift up the buckler against thee. |
| [9]And he shall setH5414[H8799] enginesH4239 of warH6904 against thy wallsH2346, and with his axesH2719 he shall break downH5422[H8799] thy towersH4026. |
[9]He shall set engines of war before him against thy walls, and with his weapons break down thy towers. |
| [10]By reason of the abundanceH8229 of his horsesH5483 their dustH80 shall coverH3680[H8762] thee: thy wallsH2346 shall shakeH7493[H8799] at the noiseH6963 of the horsemenH6571, and of the wheelsH1534, and of the chariotsH7393, when he shall enterH935[H8800] into thy gatesH8179, as men enterH3996 into a cityH5892 wherein is made a breachH1234.[H8794] |
[10]The dust of his horses shall cover thee, for their multitude: thy walls shall shake at the noise of the horsemen, and of the wheels, and of the chariots, when he shall enter into thy gates as into the entry of a city that is broken down. |
| [11]With the hoofsH6541 of his horsesH5483 shall he tread downH7429[H8799] all thy streetsH2351: he shall slayH2026[H8799] thy peopleH5971 by the swordH2719, and thy strongH5797 garrisonsH4676 shall go downH3381[H8799] to the groundH776. |
[11]With the hooves of his horses shall he tread down all thy streets: he shall slay thy people by the sword, and the pillars of thy strength shall fall down to the ground. |
| [12]And they shall make a spoilH7997[H8804] of thy richesH2428, and make a preyH962[H8804] of thy merchandiseH7404: and they shall break downH2040[H8804] thy wallsH2346, and destroyH5422[H8799] thy pleasantH2532 housesH1004: and they shall layH7760[H8799] thy stonesH68 and thy timberH6086 and thy dustH6083 in the midstH8432 of the waterH4325. |
[12]And they shall rob thy riches, and spoil thy merchandise, and they shall break down thy walls, and destroy thy pleasant houses, and they shall cast thy stones and thy timber and thy dust into the midst of the water. |
| [13]And I will cause the noiseH1995 of thy songsH7892 to ceaseH7673[H8689]; and the soundH6963 of thy harpsH3658 shall be no more heardH8085.[H8735] |
[13]Thus will I cause the sound of thy songs to cease, and the sound of thine harps shall be no more heard. |
| [14]And I will makeH5414[H8804] thee like the topH6706 of a rockH5553: thou shalt be a place to spreadH4894 netsH2764 uponH4894; thou shalt be builtH1129[H8735] no more: for I the LORDH3068 have spokenH1696[H8765] it, saithH5002[H8803] the LordH136 GODH3069. |
[14]I will lay thee like the top of a rock: thou shalt be for a spreading of nets: thou shalt be built no more: for I the Lord have spoken it, saith the Lord God. |
| [15]Thus saithH559[H8804] the LordH136 GODH3069 to TyrusH6865; Shall not the islesH339 shakeH7493[H8799] at the soundH6963 of thy fallH4658, when the woundedH2491 cryH602[H8800], when the slaughterH2027 is madeH2026[H8736] in the midst of theeH8432? |
[15]Thus saith the Lord God to Tyre, Shall not the isles tremble at the sound of thy fall? And at the cry of the wounded, when they shall be slain and murdered in the midst of thee? |
| [16]Then all the princesH5387 of the seaH3220 shall come downH3381[H8804] from their thronesH3678, and lay awayH5493[H8689] their robesH4598, and put offH6584[H8799] their broideredH7553 garmentsH899: they shall clotheH3847[H8799] themselves with tremblingH2731; they shall sitH3427[H8799] upon the groundH776, and shall trembleH2729[H8804] at every momentH7281, and be astonishedH8074 at thee. \pH8804a |
[16]Then all the princes of the sea shall come down from their thrones: they shall lay away their robes, and put off their broidered garments, and shall clothe themselves with astonishment: they shall sit upon the ground, and be astonished at every moment, and be amazed at thee. |
| [17]And they shall take upH5375[H8804] a lamentationH7015 for thee, and sayH559[H8804] to thee, How art thou destroyedH6[H8804], that wast inhabitedH3427[H8737] of seafaring menH3220, the renownedH1984[H8794] cityH5892, which wast strongH2389 in the seaH3220, she and her inhabitantsH3427[H8802], which causeH5414[H8804] their terrorH2851 to be on all that hauntH3427 itH8802! |
[17]And they shall take up a lamentation for thee, and say to thee, How art thou destroyed, that wast inhabited of the sea men, the renowned city which was strong in the sea, both she and her inhabitants, which cause their fear to be on all that haunt therein! |
| [18]Now shall the islesH339 trembleH2729[H8799] in the dayH3117 of thy fallH4658; yea, the islesH339 that are in the seaH3220 shall be troubledH926[H8738] at thy departureH3318.[H8800] |
[18]Now shall the isles be astonished in the day of thy fall: yea, the isles that are in the sea, shall be troubled at thy departure. |
| [19]For thus saithH559[H8804] the LordH136 GODH3069; When I shall makeH5414[H8800] thee a desolateH2717[H8737] cityH5892, like the citiesH5892 that are not inhabitedH3427[H8738]; when I shall bring upH5927[H8687] the deepH8415 upon thee, and greatH7227 watersH4325 shall coverH3680 theeH8765; |
[19]For thus saith the Lord God, When I shall make thee a desolate city, like the cities that are not inhabited, and when I shall bring the deep upon thee, and great waters shall cover thee, |
| [20]When I shall bring thee downH3381[H8689] with them that descendH3381[H8802] into the pitH953, with the peopleH5971 of old timeH5769, and shall setH3427[H8689] thee in the low partsH8482 of the earthH776, in places desolateH2723 of oldH5769, with them that go downH3381[H8802] to the pitH953, that thou be not inhabitedH3427[H8799]; and I shall setH5414[H8804] gloryH6643 in the landH776 of the livingH2416; |
[20]When I shall cast thee down with them that descend into the pit, with the people of old time, and shall set thee in the low parts of the earth, like the old ruins, with them, I say, which go down to the pit, so that thou shalt not be inhabited, and I shall show my glory in the land of the living, |
| [21]I will makeH5414[H8799] thee a terrorH1091, and thou shalt be no more: though thou be sought forH1245[H8792], yet shalt thou neverH5769 be foundH4672[H8735] again, saithH5002[H8803] the LordH136 GODH3069. |
[21]I will bring thee to nothing, and thou shalt be no more: though thou be sought for, yet shalt thou never be found again, saith the Lord God. |
