[1]He cried also with a loud voice in mine ears, saying, The visitations of the city draw near, and every man hath a weapon in his hand to destroy it. |
| [2]And, behold, sixH8337 menH582 cameH935[H8802] from the wayH1870 of the higherH5945 gateH8179, which liethH6437[H8716] toward the northH6828, and every manH376 a slaughterH4660 weaponH3627 in his handH3027; and oneH259 manH376 amongH8432 them was clothedH3847[H8803] with linenH906, with a writer'sH5608[H8802] inkhornH7083 by his sideH4975: and they went inH935[H8799], and stoodH5975[H8799] besideH681 the brasenH5178 altarH4196. |
[2]And behold, six men came by the way of the high gate, which lieth toward the north, and every man a weapon in his hand to destroy it: and one man among them was clothed with linen, with a writer's ink horn by his side, and they went in and stood beside the brazen altar. |
| [3]And the gloryH3519 of the GodH430 of IsraelH3478 was gone upH5927[H8738] from the cherubH3742, whereupon he was, to the thresholdH4670 of the houseH1004. And he calledH7121[H8799] to the manH376 clothedH3847[H8803] with linenH906, which had the writer'sH5608[H8802] inkhornH7083 by his sideH4975; |
[3]And the glory of the God of Israel was gone up from the cherub, whereupon he was and stood on the door of the house, and he called to the man clothed with linen, which had the writer's inkhorn by his side. |
| [4]And the LORDH3068 saidH559[H8799] unto him, Go throughH5674[H8798] the midstH8432 of the cityH5892, through the midstH8432 of JerusalemH3389, and setH8427[H8689] a markH8420 upon the foreheadsH4696 of the menH582 that sighH584[H8737] and that cryH602[H8737] for all the abominationsH8441 that be doneH6213[H8737] in the midst thereofH8432. |
[4]And the Lord said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, even through the midst of Jerusalem and set a mark upon the foreheads of them that mourn, and cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof. |
| [5]And to the othersH428 he saidH559[H8804] in mine hearingH241, GoH5674[H8798] ye afterH310 him through the cityH5892, and smiteH5221[H8685]: let not your eyeH5869 spareH2347[H8799], neither have ye pityH2550:[H8799] |
[5]And to the other he said, that I might hear, Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let your eye spare none, neither have pity. |
| [6]SlayH2026[H8799] utterlyH4889 oldH2205 and youngH970, both maidsH1330, and little childrenH2945, and womenH802: but come not nearH5066[H8799] any manH376 upon whom is the markH8420; and beginH2490[H8686] at my sanctuaryH4720. Then they beganH2490[H8686] at the ancientH2205 menH582 which were beforeH6440 the houseH1004. |
[6]Destroy utterly the old, and the young, and the maids, and the children, and the women, but touch no man, upon whom is the mark, and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men, which were before the house. |
| [7]And he saidH559[H8799] unto them, DefileH2930[H8761] the houseH1004, and fillH4390[H8761] the courtsH2691 with the slainH2491: go ye forthH3318[H8798]. And they went forthH3318[H8804], and slewH5221[H8689] in the cityH5892. |
[7]And he said unto them, Defile the house, and fill the courts with the slain, then go forth: and they went out, and slew them in the city. |
| [8]And it came to pass, while they were slayingH5221[H8687] them, and I was leftH7604[H8737], that I fellH5307[H8799] upon my faceH6440, and criedH2199[H8799], and saidH559[H8799], AhH162 LordH136 GODH3069! wilt thou destroyH7843[H8688] all the residueH7611 of IsraelH3478 in thy pouring outH8210[H8800] of thy furyH2534 upon JerusalemH3389? |
[8]Now when they had slain them, and I had escaped, I fell down upon my face, and cried, saying, Ah Lord God, wilt thou destroy all the residue of Israel, in pouring out thy wrath upon Jerusalem? |
| [9]Then saidH559[H8799] he unto me, The iniquityH5771 of the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478 and JudahH3063 is exceedingH3966[H3966] greatH1419, and the landH776 is fullH4390[H8735] of bloodH1818, and the cityH5892 fullH4390[H8804] of perversenessH4297: for they sayH559[H8804], The LORDH3068 hath forsakenH5800[H8804] the earthH776, and the LORDH3068 seethH7200 notH8802. |
[9]Then said he unto me, The iniquity of the house of Israel, and Judah is exceeding great, so that the land is full of blood, and the city full of corrupt judgment: for they say, The Lord hath forsaken the earth, and the Lord seeth us not. |
| [10]And as for me also, mine eyeH5869 shall not spareH2347[H8799], neither will I have pityH2550[H8799], but I will recompenseH5414[H8804] their wayH1870 upon their headH7218. |
[10]As touching me also, mine eye shall not spare them, neither will I have pity, but will recompense their ways upon their heads. |
| [11]And, behold, the manH376 clothedH3847[H8803] with linenH906, which had the inkhornH7083 by his sideH4975, reportedH7725[H8688] the matterH1697, sayingH559[H8800], I have doneH6213[H8804] as thou hast commandedH6680 meH8765. |
[11]And behold, the man clothed with linen which had the inkhorn by his side, made report, and said, Lord, I have done as thou hast commanded me. |
