[2]And on the seventhH7637 dayH3117 GodH430 endedH3615 H8762his workH4399 which he had madeH6213 ; H8804and he restedH7673 H8799on the seventhH7637 dayH3117 from all his workH4399 which he had madeH6213.[H8804] [2]And on the sixth day God, finished his works which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his works which he had made.
[3]And GodH430 blessedH1288 H8762the seventhH7637 dayH3117, and sanctifiedH6942 H8762it: becauseH3588 that in it he had restedH7673 H8804from all his workH4399 which GodH430 createdH1254 H8804and madeH6213.[H8800] [3]So God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it; because in it he had rested from all his works which God created and made
[4]TheseH428 are the generationsH8435 of the heavensH8064 and of the earthH776 when they were createdH1254 , H8736in the dayH3117 that the LORDH3068 GodH430 madeH6213 H8800the earthH776 and the heavensH8064, [4]These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the heavens and the earth.
[5]And every plantH7880 of the fieldH7704 beforeH2962 it was in the earthH776, and every herbH6212 of the fieldH7704 beforeH2962 it grewH6779 : H8799forH3588 the LORDH3068 GodH430 had notH3808 caused it to rainH4305 H8689upon the earthH776, and there was notH369 a manH120 to tillH5647 H8800the groundH127. [5]And all the trees of the field were not yet in the ground, and every herb of the field had not yet sprung up; for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was no man to till the ground.
[6]But there went upH5927 H8799a mistH108 fromH4480 the earthH776, and wateredH8248 H8689the whole faceH6440 of the groundH127. [6]But a powerful spring gushed out of the earth, and watered all the face of the ground.
[7]And the LORDH3068 GodH430 formedH3335 H8799manH120 of the dustH6083 ofH4480 the groundH127, and breathedH5301 H8799into his nostrilsH639 the breathH5397 of lifeH2416; and manH120 became a livingH2416 soulH5315. [7]And the LORD God formed Adam out of the soil of the earth, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being
[8]And the LORDH3068 GodH430 plantedH5193 H8799a gardenH1588 eastwardH6924 in EdenH5731; and thereH8033 he putH7760 H8799the manH120 whomH834 he had formedH3335.[H8804] [8]And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.
[9]And outH4480 of the groundH127 madeH6779 the LORDH3068 GodH430 to growH6779 H8686every treeH6086 that is pleasantH2530 H8737to the sightH4758, and goodH2896 for foodH3978; the treeH6086 of lifeH2416 also in the midstH8432 of the gardenH1588, and the treeH6086 of knowledgeH1847 of goodH2896 and evilH7451. [9]And out of the ground the LORD God made to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
[10]And a riverH5104 went outH3318 H8802of EdenH5731 to waterH8248 H8687the gardenH1588; and from thence it was partedH6504 , H8735and became into fourH702 headsH7218. [10]And a river flowed out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it divided and became into four heads.
[11]The nameH8034 of the firstH259 is PisonH6376: thatH1931 is it which compassethH5437 H8802the whole landH776 of HavilahH2341, whereH834 there is goldH2091; [11]The name of the first is Pishon; it is the one which encircles the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;
[12]And the goldH2091 of thatH1931 landH776 is goodH2896: there is bdelliumH916 and the onyxH7718 stoneH68. [12]And the gold of that land is good; there is also beryllium and the onyx stone.
[13]And the nameH8034 of the secondH8145 riverH5104 is GihonH1521: the same is it that compassethH5437 H8802the whole landH776 of EthiopiaH3568. [13]And the name of the second river is Gihon, the one which encircles the whole land of Ethiopia.
[14]And the nameH8034 of the thirdH7992 riverH5104 is HiddekelH2313: that is it which goeth towardH1980 H8802the eastH6926 of AssyriaH804. And the fourthH7243 riverH5104 is EuphratesH6578. [14]And the name of the third river is Deklat (Tigris); it is the one which flows east of Assyria. And the fourth river is the Euphrates.
[15]And the LORDH3068 GodH430 tookH3947 H8799the manH120, and put himH3240 H8686into the gardenH1588 of EdenH5731 to dressH5647 H8800it and to keepH8104 itH8800. [15]And the LORD God took the man, and put him in the garden of Eden to till it and to keep it
[16]And the LORDH3068 GodH430 commandedH6680 H8762the manH120, sayingH559 , H8800Of every treeH6086 of the gardenH1588 thou mayest freelyH398 H8800eatH398:[H8799] [16]And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat;
[17]But of the treeH6086 of the knowledgeH1847 of goodH2896 and evilH7451, thou shalt not eatH398 H8799of it: for in the dayH3117 that thou eatestH398 H8800thereof thou shalt surelyH4191 H8800dieH4191.[H8799] [17]But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat; for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die
[18]And the LORDH3068 GodH430 saidH559 , H8799It is not goodH2896 that the manH120 should beH1961 H8800alone; I will makeH6213 H8799him an help meet for himH5828. [18]Then the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper who is like him.
[19]And out of the groundH127 the LORDH3068 GodH430 formedH3335 H8799every beastH2416 of the fieldH7704, and every fowlH5775 of the airH8064; and broughtH935 H8686them unto AdamH120 to seeH7200 H8800what he would callH7121 H8799them: and whatsoever AdamH120 calledH7121 H8799every livingH2416 creatureH5315, thatH1931 was the name thereofH8034. [19]And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them; and whatever Adam called every living creature, that was its name.
[20]And AdamH120 gaveH7121 H8799namesH8034 to all cattleH929, and to the fowlH5775 of the airH8064, and to every beastH2416 of the fieldH7704; but for AdamH120 there was not foundH4672 H8804an help meet for himH5828. [20]And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to all fowl of the air, and to all wild beasts; but for Adam there was not found a helper who was equal to him
[21]And the LORDH3068 GodH430 causedH5307 a deep sleepH8639 to fallH5307 H8686upon AdamH121, and he sleptH3462 : H8799and he tookH3947 H8799oneH259 of his ribsH6763, and closed upH5462 H8799the flesh instead thereofH1320; [21]So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept; and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the place with flesh in its stead;
[22]And the ribH6763, which the LORDH3068 GodH430 had takenH3947 H8804from manH120, madeH1129 H8799he a womanH802, and broughtH935 H8686her unto the manH120. [22]And of the rib which the LORD God had taken from Adam he made a woman, and brought her to Adam.
[23]And AdamH120 saidH559 , H8799ThisH2063 is nowH6471 boneH6106 of my bonesH6106, and fleshH1320 of my fleshH1320: sheH2063 shall be calledH7121 H8735WomanH802, because sheH2063 was takenH3947 H8795out of ManH376. [23]And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
[24]ThereforeH3651 shall a manH376 leaveH5800 H8799his fatherH1 and his motherH517, and shall cleaveH1692 H8804unto his wifeH802: and they shall be oneH259 fleshH1320. [24]Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife, and they shall be one flesh.
[25]And they were bothH8147 nakedH6174, the manH120 and his wifeH802, and were not ashamedH954.[H8709] [25]And they were both naked, Adam and his wife, and were not ashamed
