[1]The burdenH4853 of BabylonH894, which IsaiahH3470 the sonH1121 of AmozH531 did seeH2372.[H8804] [1]This is the burthen of Babylon, whiche Esai the sonne of Amos did see
[2]Lift ye upH5375[H8798] a bannerH5251 upon the highH8192[H8737] mountainH2022, exaltH7311[H8685] the voiceH6963 unto them, shakeH5130[H8685] the handH3027, that they may goH935[H8799] into the gatesH6607 of the noblesH5081. [2]Lift vp the banner vppon the high hyll, call vnto the, wagge your hande, that they may go into the gates of the princes
[3]I have commandedH6680[H8765] my sanctified onesH6942[H8794], I have also calledH7121[H8804] my mighty onesH1368 for mine angerH639, even them that rejoiceH5947 in my highnessH1346. [3]I haue commaunded my sanctified, I haue also called my valiaunt ones, ioying in my honour to execute my wrath
[4]The noiseH6963 of a multitudeH1995 in the mountainsH2022, like asH1823 of a greatH7227 peopleH5971; a tumultuousH7588 noiseH6963 of the kingdomsH4467 of nationsH1471 gathered togetherH622[H8737]: the LORDH3068 of hostsH6635 musterethH6485[H8764] the hostH6635 of the battleH4421. [4]There is a noyse of a multitude in the mountaynes, lyke as of a great people, a rushing as though the kingdomes of the nations came together: the Lorde of hoastes mustreth his armye to battayle
[5]They comeH935[H8802] from a farH4801 countryH776, from the endH7097 of heavenH8064, even the LORDH3068, and the weaponsH3627 of his indignationH2195, to destroyH2254[H8763] the whole landH776. [5]They come out of a farre countrey from the ende of the heauen, euen the Lorde hym selfe with the ministers of his wrath, to destroy the whole lande
[6]HowlH3213[H8685] ye; for the dayH3117 of the LORDH3068 is at handH7138; it shall comeH935[H8799] as a destructionH7701 from the AlmightyH7706. [6]Mourne ye, for the day of the Lord is at hande, and shall come as a destroyer from the almightie
[7]Therefore shall all handsH3027 be faintH7503[H8799], and every man'sH582 heartH3824 shall meltH4549:[H8735] [7]Therefore shall all handes be letten downe, and all mens heartes shall melt away
[8]And they shall be afraidH926[H8738]: pangsH6735 and sorrowsH2256 shall take holdH270[H8799] of them; they shall be in painH2342[H8799] as a woman that travailethH3205[H8802]: they shall be amazedH8539[H8799] oneH376 at anotherH7453; their facesH6440 shall be as flamesH3851. [8]They shall stande in feare, carefulnes and sorowe shall come vpon them, and they shal haue payne, as a woman that trauayleth with chylde: One shalbe abashed of another, and their faces shall burne like the flame of fire
[9]Behold, the dayH3117 of the LORDH3068 comethH935[H8804], cruelH394 both with wrathH5678 and fierceH2740 angerH639, to layH7760[H8800] the landH776 desolateH8047: and he shall destroyH8045[H8686] the sinners thereof out of itH2400. [9]Beholde, the day of the Lorde shall come terribly and full of indignation, furie & wrath, to make the lande waste, and to roote out the sinners therof
[10]For the starsH3556 of heavenH8064 and the constellationsH3685 thereof shall not giveH1984[H8686] their lightH216: the sunH8121 shall be darkenedH2821[H8804] in his going forthH3318[H8800], and the moonH3394 shall not cause her lightH216 to shineH5050.[H8686] [10]For the starres and planettes of heauen shall not geue their light, the sunne shalbe darkened in the rising, and the moone shall not shine with her light
[11]And I will punishH6485[H8804] the worldH8398 for their evilH7451, and the wickedH7563 for their iniquityH5771; and I will cause the arrogancyH1347 of the proudH2086 to ceaseH7673[H8689], and will lay lowH8213[H8686] the haughtinessH1346 of the terribleH6184. [11]And I wyll visite the wickednesse of the worlde, and the sinnes of the vngodlye. The high stomakes of the proude wyll I take away, and will lay downe the boasting of the tiraunt
[12]I will make a manH582 more preciousH3365[H8686] than fine goldH6337; even a manH120 than the golden wedgeH3800 of OphirH211. [12]I wyll make a man dearer then fine gold, and a man to be more worth then a golden wedge of Ophir
[13]Therefore I will shakeH7264[H8686] the heavensH8064, and the earthH776 shall removeH7493[H8799] out of her placeH4725, in the wrathH5678 of the LORDH3068 of hostsH6635, and in the dayH3117 of his fierceH2740 angerH639. [13]Therfore I wyll shake the heauens, and the earth shall remoue out of her place in the wrath of the Lorde of hoastes, and in the day of his fearefull indignation
[14]And it shall be as the chasedH5080[H8716] roeH6643, and as a sheepH6629 that no man taketh upH6908[H8764]: they shall every manH376 turnH6437[H8799] to his own peopleH5971, and fleeH5127[H8799] every oneH376 into his own landH776. [14]And [Babylon] shalbe as an hunted or chased Doe, and as a sheepe that no man taketh vp: Euery man shall turne to his owne people, and flee eche one into his owne lande
[15]Every one that is foundH4672[H8737] shall be thrust throughH1856[H8735]; and every one that is joinedH5595[H8737] unto them shall fallH5307[H8799] by the swordH2719. [15]Whoso is founde shalbe shot thorowe: and whoso taketh their part, shalbe destroyed with the sworde
[16]Their childrenH5768 also shall be dashed to piecesH7376[H8792] before their eyesH5869; their housesH1004 shall be spoiledH8155[H8735], and their wivesH802 ravishedH7901[H8735][H8675][H7693].[H8735] [16]Their chyldren shalbe slayne before their eyes: their house spoyled, and their wiues rauished
[17]Behold, I will stir upH5782[H8688] the MedesH4074 against them, which shall not regardH2803[H8799] silverH3701; and as for goldH2091, they shall not delightH2654 in itH8799. [17]For lo, I shall bring vp the Medes against them, whiche shall not regarde siluer, nor be desirous of golde
[18]Their bowsH7198 also shall dashH7376 the young menH5288 to piecesH7376[H8762]; and they shall have no pityH7355[H8762] on the fruitH6529 of the wombH990; their eyeH5869 shall not spareH2347[H8799] childrenH1121. [18]With bowes shall they destroy the young men, and haue no pitie on women with chylde, and their faces shall not spare the chyldren
[19]And BabylonH894, the gloryH6643 of kingdomsH4467, the beautyH8597 of the Chaldees'H3778 excellencyH1347, shall be as when GodH430 overthrewH4114 SodomH5467 and GomorrahH6017. [19]And Babylon that glory of kingdomes, and beautie of the Chaldees honour shalbe destroyed, euen as God destroyed Sodome and Gomor
[20]It shall neverH5331 be inhabitedH3427[H8799], neither shall it be dweltH7931[H8799] in from generationH1755 to generationH1755: neither shall the ArabianH6163 pitch tentH167[H8762] there; neither shall the shepherdsH7462[H8802] make their foldH7257 thereH8686. [20]It shall not endure for euer, neither shall there be any more dwelling there from generation to generation: The Arabians shall pitche no tentes there, neither shall the sheepheardes make their foldes there any more
[21]But wild beasts of the desertH6728 shall lieH7257[H8804] there; and their housesH1004 shall be fullH4390[H8804] of doleful creaturesH255; and owlsH1323[H3284] shall dwellH7931[H8804] there, and satyrsH8163 shall danceH7540 thereH8762. [21]But fearefull wylde beastes shall lye there, and the houses shalbe ful of great Owles, Estriches shall dwell there, and Apes shall daunce there
[22]And the wild beasts of the islandsH338 shall cryH6030[H8804] in their desolate housesH490, and dragonsH8577 in their pleasantH6027 palacesH1964: and her timeH6256 is nearH7138 to comeH935[H8800], and her daysH3117 shall not be prolongedH4900.[H8735] [22]Wylde cattes shall crye in the palaces, and dragons shalbe in the pleasaunt houses: And as for Babylons tyme it is at hande, and her dayes shall not be prolonged
