[1]And at the revolution [or "equinox"] of the year, being the seventysecond year from the Israelites going down to Egypt, after the death of Yosef, Tz'fo, the son of Elifaz, the son of Esau, fled from Egypt, he and his men, and they went away.
[2]And he came to Africa, which is Dinhavah, to Angias king of Africa, and Angias received them with great honor, and he made Tz'fo the captain of his host.
[3]And Tz'fo found favor in the eyes of Angias and in the eyes of his people, and Tz'fo was captain of the host to Angias king of Africa for many days.
[4]And Tz'fo enticed Angias king of Africa to collect all his army to go and fight with the Egyptians, and with the sons of Ya'akov, and to avenge of them the cause of his brothers.
[5]But Angias would not listen to Tz'fo to do this thing, for Angias knew the strength of the sons of Ya'akov, and what they had done to his army in their warfare with the children of Esau.
[6]And Tz'fo was in those days very great in the eyes of Angias and in the eyes of all his people, and he continually enticed them to make war against Egypt, but they would not.
[7]And it came to pass in those days there was in the land of Chittim a man in the city of Putzay'mana, whose name was Utzu, and he became degenerately deified by the children of Chittim, and the man died and had no son, only one daughter whose name was Yaniyah.
[8]And the damsel was exceedingly beautiful, comely and intelligent, there was none seen like unto her for beauty and wisdom in all the land.
[9]And the men of Angias king of Africa saw her and they came and praised her unto him, and Angias sent to the children of Chittim, and he requested to take her unto himself for a wife, and the people of Chittim consented to give her unto him for a wife.
[10]And when the messengers of Angias were going forth from the land of Chittim to take their journey, behold the messengers of Turgos king of Bevintu came unto Chittim, for Turgos king of Bevintu also sent his messengers to request Yaniyah for him, to take unto himself for a wife, for all his men had also praised her to him, therefore he sent all his servants unto her.
[11]And the servants of Turgos came to Chittim, and they asked for Yaniyah, to be taken unto Turgos their king for a wife.
[12]And the men of Chittim said unto them, We cannot give her, because Angias king of Africa desired her to take her unto him for a wife before you came, and that we should give her unto him, and now therefore we cannot do this thing to deprive Angias of the damsel in order to give her unto Turgos.
[13]For we are greatly afraid of Angias lest he come in battle against us and destroy us, and Turgos your lord will not be able to deliver us from his hand.
[14]And when the messengers of Turgos heard all the words of the children of Chittim, they turned back to their lord and told him all the words of the children of Chittim.
[15]And the children of Chittim sent a memorial to Angias, saying, Behold Turgos has sent for Yaniyah to take her unto him for a wife, and thus have we answered him; and we heard that he has collected his whole army to go to war against you, and he intends to pass by the road of Sardun'ya to fight against your brother Lukush, and after that he will come to fight against you.
[16]And Angias heard the words of the children of Chittim which they sent to him in the record, and his anger was kindled and he rose up and assembled his whole army and came through the islands of the sea, the road to Sardun'ya, unto his brother Lukush king of Sardun'ya.
[17]And Giv'losh, the son of Lukush, heard that his uncle Angias was coming, and he went out to meet him with a heavy army, and he kissed him and embraced him, and Giv'losh said unto Angias, When you askest my father after his welfare, when I shall go with you to fight with Turgos, ask of him to make me captain of his host, and Angias did so, and he came unto his brother and his brother came to meet him, and he asked him after his welfare.
[18]And Angias asked his brother Lukush after his welfare, and to make his son Giv'losh captain of his host, and Lukush did so, and Angias and his brother Lukush rose up and they went toward Turgos to battle, and there was with them a great army and a heavy people.
[19]And he came in ships, and they came into the province of Eshtoresh, and behold Turgos came toward them, for he went forth to Sardunia, and intended to destroy it and afterward to pass on from there to Angias to fight with him.
[20]And Angias and Lukush his brother met Turgos in the valley of Kanaf'ya, and the battle was strong and mighty between them in that place.
[21]And the battle was severe upon Lukush king of Sardun'ya, and all his army fell, and Giv'losh his son fell also in that battle.
[22]And his uncle Angias commanded his servants and they made a golden coffin for Giv'losh and they put him into it, and Angias again waged battle toward Turgos, and Angias was stronger than he, and he slew him, and he smote all his people with the edge of the sword, and Angias avenged the cause of Giv'losh his brother's son and the cause of the army of his brother Lukush.
[23]And when Turgos died, the hands of those that survived the battle became weak, and they fled from before Angias and Lukush his brother.
[24]And Angias and his brother Lukush pursued them unto the highroad, which is between El'panu and Romah, and they slew the whole army of Turgos with the edge of the sword.
[25]And Lukush king of Sardun'ya commanded his servants that they should make a coffin of brass, and that they should place therein the body of his son Giv'losh, and they buried him in that place.
[26]And they built upon it a high tower there upon the highroad, and they called its name after the name of Giv'losh unto this day, and they also buried Turgos king of Bevintu there in that place with Giv'losh.
[27]And behold upon the highroad between El'panu and Romah the grave of Giv'losh is on one side and the grave of Turgos on the other, and a pavement between them unto this day.
[28]And when Giv'losh was buried, Lukush his father returned with his army to his land Sardun'ya, and Angias his brother king of Africa went with his people unto the city of Bevintu, that is the city of Turgos.
[29]And the inhabitants of Bevintu heard of his fame and they were greatly afraid of him, and they went forth to meet him with weeping and supplication, and the inhabitants of Bevintu entreated of Angias not to slay them nor destroy their city; and he did so, for Bevintu was in those days reckoned as one of the cities of the children of Chittim; therefore he did not destroy the city.
[30]But from that day forward the troops of the king of Africa would go to Chittim to spoil and plunder it, and whenever they went, Tz'fo the captain of the host of Angias would go with them.
[31]And it was after this that Angias turned with his army and they came to the city of Putzay'mana, and Angias took thence Yaniyah the daughter of Utzu for a wife and brought her unto his city unto Africa.
