| [1]And kyng Sedechie, the sone of Josie, regnede for Jeconye, the sone of Joachym, whom Nabugodonosor, kyng of Babiloyne, made kyng in the lond of Juda. |
[1]And kingH4428 ZedekiahH6667 the sonH1121 of JosiahH2977 reignedH4427[H8799] instead of ConiahH3659 the sonH1121 of JehoiakimH3079, whom NebuchadrezzarH5019 kingH4428 of BabylonH894 made kingH4427[H8689] in the landH776 of JudahH3063. |
| [2]And he, and hise seruauntis, and his puple obeieden not to the wordis of the Lord, whiche he spak in the hond of Jeremye, the profete. |
[2]But neither he, nor his servantsH5650, nor the peopleH5971 of the landH776, did hearkenH8085[H8804] unto the wordsH1697 of the LORDH3068, which he spakeH1696[H8765] byH3027 the prophetH5030 JeremiahH3414. |
| [3]And kyng Sedechie sente Jothal, the sone of Selemye, and Sofonye, the preest, the sone of Maasie, to Jeremye, the profete, and seide, Preie thou for vs oure Lord God. |
[3]And ZedekiahH6667 the kingH4428 sentH7971[H8799] JehucalH3081 the sonH1121 of ShelemiahH8018 and ZephaniahH6846 the sonH1121 of MaaseiahH4641 the priestH3548 to the prophetH5030 JeremiahH3414, sayingH559[H8800], PrayH6419[H8690] now unto the LORDH3068 our God for usH430. |
| [4]Forsothe Jeremye yede freli in the myddis of the puple; for thei hadden not sente hym in to the kepyng of the prisoun. Therfor the oost of Farao yede out of Egipt, and Caldeis, that bisegiden Jerusalem, herden sich a message, and yeden awei fro Jerusalem. |
[4]Now JeremiahH3414 came inH935[H8804] and went outH3318[H8802] amongH8432 the peopleH5971: for they had not putH5414[H8804] him into prisonH1004.[H3628] |
| [5]And the word of the Lord was maad to Jeremye, the profete, |
[5]Then Pharaoh'sH6547 armyH2428 was come forthH3318[H8804] out of EgyptH4714: and when the ChaldeansH3778 that besiegedH6696[H8802] JerusalemH3389 heardH8085[H8799] tidingsH8088 of them, they departedH5927[H8735] from JerusalemH3389. |
| [6]and seide, The Lord God of Israel seith these thingis, Thus ye schulen seie to the kyng of Juda, that sente you to axe me, Lo! the oost of Farao, which yede out to you in to help, schal turne ayen in to his lond, in to Egipt. |
[6]Then came the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 unto the prophetH5030 JeremiahH3414, sayingH559,[H8800] |
| [7]And Caldeis schulen come ayen, and schulen fiyte ayens this citee, and schulen take it, and schulen brenne it bi fier. |
[7]Thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478; Thus shall ye sayH559[H8799] to the kingH4428 of JudahH3063, that sentH7971[H8802] you unto me to enquireH1875[H8800] of me; Behold, Pharaoh'sH6547 armyH2428, which is come forthH3318[H8802] to helpH5833 you, shall returnH7725[H8804] to EgyptH4714 into their own landH776. |
| [8]The Lord seith these thingis, Nyle ye disseyue youre soulis, seiynge, Caldeis goynge schulen go a wey, and schulen departe fro vs; for thei schulen not go a wei. |
[8]And the ChaldeansH3778 shall come againH7725[H8804], and fightH3898[H8738] against this cityH5892, and takeH3920[H8804] it, and burnH8313[H8804] it with fireH784. |
| [9]But thouy ye sleen al the oost of Caldeis, that fiyten ayens you, and summe woundid men of hem be left, ech man schal rise fro his tente, and thei schulen brenne this citee bi fier. |
[9]Thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068; DeceiveH5377[H8686] not yourselvesH5315, sayingH559[H8800], The ChaldeansH3778 shall surelyH1980[H8800] departH3212[H8799] from us: for they shall not departH3212.[H8799] |
| [10]Therfor whanne the oost of Caldeis hadde goon awei fro Jerusalem, for the oost of Farao, Jeremye yede out of Jerusalem, |
[10]For though ye had smittenH5221[H8689] the whole armyH2428 of the ChaldeansH3778 that fightH3898[H8737] against you, and there remainedH7604[H8738] but woundedH1856[H8794] menH582 among them, yet should they rise upH6965[H8799] every manH376 in his tentH168, and burnH8313[H8804] this cityH5892 with fireH784. |
| [11]to go in to the lond of Beniamyn, and to departe there the possessioun in the siyt of citeseyns. |
[11]And it came to pass, that when the armyH2428 of the ChaldeansH3778 was broken upH5927[H8736] from JerusalemH3389 for fearH6440 of Pharaoh'sH6547 armyH2428, |
| [12]And whanne he was comun to the yate of Beniamyn, ther was a kepere of the yate bi whiles, Jerie bi name, the sone of Selemye, sone of Ananye; and he took Jeremye, the prophete, and seide, Thou fleest to Caldeis. |
[12]Then JeremiahH3414 went forthH3318[H8799] out of JerusalemH3389 to goH3212[H8800] into the landH776 of BenjaminH1144, to separateH2505[H8687] himself thence in the midstH8432 of the peopleH5971. |
| [13]And Jeremye answeride, It is fals; Y fle not to Caldeis. And he herde not Jeremye, but Jerie took Jeremye, and brouyte hym to the princes. |
[13]And when he was in the gateH8179 of BenjaminH1144, a captainH1167 of the wardH6488 was there, whose nameH8034 was IrijahH3376, the sonH1121 of ShelemiahH8018, the sonH1121 of HananiahH2608; and he tookH8610[H8799] JeremiahH3414 the prophetH5030, sayingH559[H8800], Thou fallest awayH5307[H8802] to the ChaldeansH3778. |
| [14]Wherfor the princes weren wrooth ayens Jeremye, and beeten hym, and senten hym in to the prisoun, that was in the hous of Jonathas, the scryuen; for he was souereyn on the prisoun. |
[14]Then saidH559[H8799] JeremiahH3414, It is falseH8267; I fall not awayH5307[H8802] to the ChaldeansH3778. But he hearkenedH8085[H8804] not to him: so IrijahH3376 tookH8610[H8799] JeremiahH3414, and broughtH935[H8686] him to the princesH8269. |
| [15]Therfor Jeremye entride in to the hous of the lake, and in to the prisoun of trauel; and Jeremye sat there manye daies. |
[15]Wherefore the princesH8269 were wrothH7107[H8799] with JeremiahH3414, and smoteH5221[H8689] him, and putH5414[H8804] him in prisonH612 in the houseH1004 of JonathanH3083 the scribeH5608[H8802]: for they had madeH6213[H8804] that the prisonH3608. |
| [16]Therfor kyng Sedechie sente, and took hym a wei, and axide hym priuyli in his hous, and seide, Gessist thou, whether a word is of the Lord? And Jeremye seide, Ther is. And Jeremye seide, Thou schalt be bitakun in to the hond of the kyng of Babiloyne. |
[16]When JeremiahH3414 was enteredH935[H8804] into the dungeonH1004[H953], and into the cabinsH2588, and JeremiahH3414 had remainedH3427[H8799] there manyH7227 daysH3117; |
| [17]And Jeremye seide to Sedechie, the kyng, What haue Y synned to thee, and to thi seruauntis, and to thi puple, for thou hast sent me in to the hous of prisoun? |
[17]Then ZedekiahH6667 the kingH4428 sentH7971[H8799], and took him outH3947[H8799]: and the kingH4428 askedH7592[H8799] him secretlyH5643 in his houseH1004, and saidH559[H8799], Is there any wordH1697 from the LORDH3068? And JeremiahH3414 saidH559[H8799], There isH3426: for, saidH559[H8799] he, thou shalt be deliveredH5414[H8735] into the handH3027 of the kingH4428 of BabylonH894. |
| [18]Where ben youre profetis, that profesieden to you, and seiden, The king of Babiloyne schal not come on you, and on this lond? |
[18]Moreover JeremiahH3414 saidH559[H8799] unto kingH4428 ZedekiahH6667, What have I offendedH2398[H8804] against thee, or against thy servantsH5650, or against this peopleH5971, that ye have putH5414[H8804] me in prisonH1004?[H3608] |
| [19]Now therfor, my lord the kyng, Y biseche, here thou, my preier be worth in thi siyt, and sende thou not me ayen in to the hous of Jonathas, the scryuen, lest Y die there. |
[19]Where are nowH346 your prophetsH5030 which prophesiedH5012[H8738] unto you, sayingH559[H8800], The kingH4428 of BabylonH894 shall not comeH935[H8799] against you, nor against this landH776? |
| [20]Therfor Sedechie comaundide, that Jeremye schulde be bitakun in to the porche of the prisoun, and that a cake of breed schulde be youun to hym ech dai, outakun seew, til alle looues of the citee weren wastid; and Jeremye dwellide in the porche of the prisoun. |
[20]Therefore hearH8085[H8798] now, I pray thee, O my lordH113 the kingH4428: let my supplicationH8467, I pray thee, be acceptedH5307[H8799] beforeH6440 thee; that thou cause me not to returnH7725[H8686] to the houseH1004 of JonathanH3083 the scribeH5608[H8802], lest I dieH4191 thereH8799. |
| [21]Then ZedekiahH6667 the kingH4428 commandedH6680[H8762] that they should commitH6485[H8686] JeremiahH3414 into the courtH2691 of the prisonH4307, and that they should giveH5414[H8800] him dailyH3117 a pieceH3603 of breadH3899 out of the bakersH644'H8802 streetH2351, until all the breadH3899 in the cityH5892 were spentH8552[H8800]. Thus JeremiahH3414 remainedH3427[H8799] in the courtH2691 of the prisonH4307. |
