[2]SpeakH1696[H8761] to the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, sayingH559[H8800], Appoint outH5414[H8798] for you citiesH5892 of refugeH4733, whereof I spakeH1696[H8765] unto you by the handH3027 of MosesH4872: |
| [3]that whoeuer sleeth vnwytyngli a man, fle to tho citees; |
[3]That the slayerH7523[H8802] that killethH5221[H8688] any personH5315 unawaresH7684 and unwittinglyH1847 may fleeH5127[H8800] thither: and they shall be your refugeH4733 from the avengerH1350[H8802] of bloodH1818. |
| [4]that whanne he hath fled to oon of these citees, he may ascape the ire of the neiybore, which is veniere of blood. And he schal stonde bifor the yatis of the citee, and he schal speke to the eldre men of that citee tho thingis that schulen preue hym innocent; and so thei schulen reseyue hym, and schulen yyue to hym place to dwelle. |
[4]And when he that doth fleeH5127[H8804] unto oneH259 of those citiesH5892 shall standH5975[H8804] at the enteringH6607 of the gateH8179 of the cityH5892, and shall declareH1696[H8765] his causeH1697 in the earsH241 of the eldersH2205 of that cityH5892, they shall takeH622[H8804] him into the cityH5892 unto them, and giveH5414[H8804] him a placeH4725, that he may dwellH3427 among themH8804. |
| [5]And whanne the vengere of blood pursueth hym, thei schulen not bitake hym in to the hondis of the vengere; for vnwityngli he killide his neiybore, and is not preued his enemy bifor the secounde dai ethir the thridde dai. |
[5]And if the avengerH1350[H8802] of bloodH1818 pursueH7291[H8799] afterH310 him, then they shall not deliverH5462[H8686] the slayerH7523[H8802] up into his handH3027; because he smoteH5221[H8689] his neighbourH7453 unwittinglyH1097[H1847], and hatedH8130[H8802] him not beforetimeH8543.[H8032] |
| [6]And he schal dwelle in that citee, til he stonde bifor the doom, and yelde cause of his dede. And he that killide a man, dwelle `in that citee, til the grete preest die, which is in that tyme; thanne the mansleere schal turne ayen, and he schal entre in to his citee and hows, `fro which he fledde. |
[6]And he shall dwellH3427[H8804] in that cityH5892, until he standH5975[H8800] beforeH6440 the congregationH5712 for judgmentH4941, and until the deathH4194 of the highH1419 priestH3548 thatH834 shall be in those daysH3117: then shall the slayerH7523[H8802] returnH7725[H8799], and comeH935[H8804] unto his own cityH5892, and unto his own houseH1004, unto the cityH5892 from whence he fledH5127.[H8804] |
| [7]And thei ordeyneden Cedes in Galilee, of the hil of Neptalym, and Sichem in the hil of Effraym, and Cariatharbe, thilke is Ebron, in the hil of Juda. |
[7]And they appointedH6942[H8686] KedeshH6943 in GalileeH1551 in mountH2022 NaphtaliH5321, and ShechemH7927 in mountH2022 EphraimH669, and KirjatharbaH7153, which is HebronH2275, in the mountainH2022 of JudahH3063. |
| [8]And biyende Jordan, ayens the eest coost of Jerico, thei ordeyneden Bosor, which is set in the feeldi wildirnesse of the lynage of Ruben, and Ramoth in Galaad, of the lynage of Gad, and Gaulon in Basan, of the lynage of Manasses. |

| [9]These citees weren ordeyned to alle the sones of Israel, and to comelyngis that dwellen among hem, that he that killide vnwityngli a man, schulde fle to tho citees; and he schulde not die in the hond of neiybore, coueitynge to venge the blood sched out, til he stood bifor the puple, to declare his cause. |
[9]These were the citiesH5892 appointedH4152 for all the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, and for the strangerH1616 that sojournethH1481[H8802] amongH8432 them, that whosoever killethH5221[H8688] any personH5315 at unawaresH7684 might fleeH5127[H8800] thither, and not dieH4191[H8799] by the handH3027 of the avengerH1350[H8802] of bloodH1818, until he stoodH5975[H8800] beforeH6440 the congregationH5712. |
