| [1]εἶπεν δὲ πρὸς τοὺς μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ, ἀνένδεκτόν ἐστιν τοῦ τὰ σκάνδαλα μὴ ἐλθεῖν, πλὴν οὐαὶ δι᾽ οὖ ἔρχεται· |
[1]AND Jesus said to his disciples, It is impossible but that offences should come; but woe to him by whose hand they come! |
| [2]λυσιτελεῖ αὐτῶ εἰ λίθος μυλικὸς περίκειται περὶ τὸν τράχηλον αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔρριπται εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν ἢ ἵνα σκανδαλίσῃ τῶν μικρῶν τούτων ἕνα. |
[2]It were better for him that an ass' millstone were hanged on his neck, and he thrown into the sea, than cause one of these little ones to stumble. |
| [3]προσέχετε ἑαυτοῖς. ἐὰν ἁμάρτῃ ὁ ἀδελφός σου ἐπιτίμησον αὐτῶ, καὶ ἐὰν μετανοήσῃ ἄφες αὐτῶ· |
[3]Beware among yourselves. If your brother should sin, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. |
| [4]καὶ ἐὰν ἑπτάκις τῆς ἡμέρας ἁμαρτήσῃ εἰς σὲ καὶ ἑπτάκις ἐπιστρέψῃ πρὸς σὲ λέγων, μετανοῶ, ἀφήσεις αὐτῶ. |
[4]And if he should offend you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn to you and say, I repent; forgive him. |
| [5]καὶ εἶπαν οἱ ἀπόστολοι τῶ κυρίῳ, πρόσθες ἡμῖν πίστιν. |
[5]And the apostles said to our Lord, Increase our faith. |
| [6]εἶπεν δὲ ὁ κύριος, εἰ ἔχετε πίστιν ὡς κόκκον σινάπεως, ἐλέγετε ἂν τῇ συκαμίνῳ [ταύτῃ], ἐκριζώθητι καὶ φυτεύθητι ἐν τῇ θαλάσσῃ· καὶ ὑπήκουσεν ἂν ὑμῖν. |
[6]He said to them, If you have faith, even as a grain of mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, Be uprooted and planted in the sea; it would obey you. |
| [7]τίς δὲ ἐξ ὑμῶν δοῦλον ἔχων ἀροτριῶντα ἢ ποιμαίνοντα, ὃς εἰσελθόντι ἐκ τοῦ ἀγροῦ ἐρεῖ αὐτῶ, εὐθέως παρελθὼν ἀνάπεσε, |
[7]Now which of you has a servant who ploughs or feeds sheep, and if he should come from the field, would say to him, Enter in and sit down? |
| [8]ἀλλ᾽ οὐχὶ ἐρεῖ αὐτῶ, ἑτοίμασον τί δειπνήσω, καὶ περιζωσάμενος διακόνει μοι ἕως φάγω καὶ πίω, καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα φάγεσαι καὶ πίεσαι σύ; |
[8]But he will rather say to him, Prepare something that I may have my supper, and gird yourself and serve me until I eat and drink; and then you also can eat and drink. |
| [9]μὴ ἔχει χάριν τῶ δούλῳ ὅτι ἐποίησεν τὰ διαταχθέντα; |
[9]Why, will that servant receive praise, because he did what he was commanded to do? I do not think so. |
| [10]οὕτως καὶ ὑμεῖς, ὅταν ποιήσητε πάντα τὰ διαταχθέντα ὑμῖν, λέγετε ὅτι δοῦλοι ἀχρεῖοί ἐσμεν, ὃ ὠφείλομεν ποιῆσαι πεποιήκαμεν. |
[10]Even you also, when you have done all the things which are commanded you, say, We are idle servants; we have only done what was our duty to do. |
| [11]καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῶ πορεύεσθαι εἰς ἰερουσαλὴμ καὶ αὐτὸς διήρχετο διὰ μέσον σαμαρείας καὶ γαλιλαίας. |
[11]And it came to pass, while Jesus was going to Jerusalem, he passed through Samaritan territory which is towards Galilee. |
| [12]καὶ εἰσερχομένου αὐτοῦ εἴς τινα κώμην ἀπήντησαν [αὐτῶ] δέκα λεπροὶ ἄνδρες, οἳ ἔστησαν πόρρωθεν, |
[12]And when he drew near to enter a village, he was met by ten lepers, and they stood afar off; |
| [13]καὶ αὐτοὶ ἦραν φωνὴν λέγοντες, ἰησοῦ ἐπιστάτα, ἐλέησον ἡμᾶς. |
[13]And they lifted their voices saying, O Jesus, our Master, have mercy on us. |
| [14]καὶ ἰδὼν εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, πορευθέντες ἐπιδείξατε ἑαυτοὺς τοῖς ἱερεῦσιν. καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῶ ὑπάγειν αὐτοὺς ἐκαθαρίσθησαν. |
[14]And when he saw them he said to them, Go, show yourselves to the priests; and while they were going, they were cleansed. |
| [15]εἷς δὲ ἐξ αὐτῶν, ἰδὼν ὅτι ἰάθη, ὑπέστρεψεν μετὰ φωνῆς μεγάλης δοξάζων τὸν θεόν, |
[15]But one of them, when he saw that he was cleansed, turned back, and with a loud voice praised God. |
| [16]καὶ ἔπεσεν ἐπὶ πρόσωπον παρὰ τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦ εὐχαριστῶν αὐτῶ· καὶ αὐτὸς ἦν σαμαρίτης. |
[16]And he fell on his face at the feet of Jesus, thanking him; and this one was a Samaritan. |
| [17]ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ ἰησοῦς εἶπεν, οὐχὶ οἱ δέκα ἐκαθαρίσθησαν; οἱ δὲ ἐννέα ποῦ; |
[17]Jesus answered and said, Were there not ten who were cleansed? where are the nine? |
| [18]οὐχ εὑρέθησαν ὑποστρέψαντες δοῦναι δόξαν τῶ θεῶ εἰ μὴ ὁ ἀλλογενὴς οὖτος; |
[18]Why did they separate themselves so as not to come and give praise to God, except this man who is of a strange people? |
| [19]καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῶ, ἀναστὰς πορεύου· ἡ πίστις σου σέσωκέν σε. |
[19]And he said to him, Arise, go, your faith has healed you. |
| [20]ἐπερωτηθεὶς δὲ ὑπὸ τῶν φαρισαίων πότε ἔρχεται ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ θεοῦ ἀπεκρίθη αὐτοῖς καὶ εἶπεν, οὐκ ἔρχεται ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ θεοῦ μετὰ παρατηρήσεως, |
[20]When some of the Pharisees asked Jesus, when the kingdom of God would come, he answered and said to them, The kingdom of God does not come by observation. |
| [21]οὐδὲ ἐροῦσιν, ἰδοὺ ὧδε· ἤ, ἐκεῖ· ἰδοὺ γὰρ ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ θεοῦ ἐντὸς ὑμῶν ἐστιν. |
[21]Neither will they say, Behold, it is here! or, behold, it is there! for behold, the kingdom of God is within you. |
| [22]εἶπεν δὲ πρὸς τοὺς μαθητάς, ἐλεύσονται ἡμέραι ὅτε ἐπιθυμήσετε μίαν τῶν ἡμερῶν τοῦ υἱοῦ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἰδεῖν καὶ οὐκ ὄψεσθε. |
[22]And he said to his disciples, The days will come when you will covet to see one of the days of the Son of man, and you will not see it. |
| [23]καὶ ἐροῦσιν ὑμῖν, ἰδοὺ ἐκεῖ· [ἤ,] ἰδοὺ ὧδε· μὴ ἀπέλθητε μηδὲ διώξητε. |
[23]And if they should say to you, Behold, he is here! and behold, he is there! do not go. |
| [24]ὥσπερ γὰρ ἡ ἀστραπὴ ἀστράπτουσα ἐκ τῆς ὑπὸ τὸν οὐρανὸν εἰς τὴν ὑπ᾽ οὐρανὸν λάμπει, οὕτως ἔσται ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου [ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ αὐτοῦ]. |
[24]For just as the lightning flashes from the sky, and all under the sky is lightened, such will be the day of the Son of man. |
| [25]πρῶτον δὲ δεῖ αὐτὸν πολλὰ παθεῖν καὶ ἀποδοκιμασθῆναι ἀπὸ τῆς γενεᾶς ταύτης. |
[25]But first he must suffer a great many things, and be rejected by this generation. |
| [26]καὶ καθὼς ἐγένετο ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις νῶε, οὕτως ἔσται καὶ ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις τοῦ υἱοῦ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου· |
[26]Just as it happened in the days of Noah, such will it be in the days of the Son of man. |
| [27]ἤσθιον, ἔπινον, ἐγάμουν, ἐγαμίζοντο, ἄχρι ἧς ἡμέρας εἰσῆλθεν νῶε εἰς τὴν κιβωτόν, καὶ ἦλθεν ὁ κατακλυσμὸς καὶ ἀπώλεσεν πάντας. |
[27]For they were eating and drinking, and marrying women, and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed every man. |
| [28]ὁμοίως καθὼς ἐγένετο ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις λώτ· ἤσθιον, ἔπινον, ἠγόραζον, ἐπώλουν, ἐφύτευον, ᾠκοδόμουν· |
[28]And again, just as it happened in the days of Lot; they were eating and drinking, and buying and selling, and planting and building; |
| [29]ᾗ δὲ ἡμέρᾳ ἐξῆλθεν λὼτ ἀπὸ σοδόμων, ἔβρεξεν πῦρ καὶ θεῖον ἀπ᾽ οὐρανοῦ καὶ ἀπώλεσεν πάντας. |
[29]But in the day when Lot went out of Sodom, the Lord sent down a rain of fire and sulphur from heaven, and destroyed them all. |
| [30]κατὰ τὰ αὐτὰ ἔσται ᾗ ἡμέρᾳ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἀποκαλύπτεται. |
[30]Such will it be in the day when the Son of man appears. |
| [31]ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ὃς ἔσται ἐπὶ τοῦ δώματος καὶ τὰ σκεύη αὐτοῦ ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ, μὴ καταβάτω ἆραι αὐτά, καὶ ὁ ἐν ἀγρῶ ὁμοίως μὴ ἐπιστρεψάτω εἰς τὰ ὀπίσω. |
[31]In that day, he who is on the roof and his clothes in the house, will not come down to take them; and he who is in the field will not return back. |
| [32]μνημονεύετε τῆς γυναικὸς λώτ. |
[32]Just remember Lot's wife. |
| [33]ὃς ἐὰν ζητήσῃ τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ περιποιήσασθαι ἀπολέσει αὐτήν, ὃς δ᾽ ἂν ἀπολέσῃ ζῳογονήσει αὐτήν. |
[33]He who desires to save his life shall lose it; and he who loses his life shall save it. |
| [34]λέγω ὑμῖν, ταύτῃ τῇ νυκτὶ ἔσονται δύο ἐπὶ κλίνης μιᾶς, ὁ εἷς παραλημφθήσεται καὶ ὁ ἕτερος ἀφεθήσεται· |
[34]I say to you that in that very night two will be in one bed; one will be taken away, and the other left. |
| [35]ἔσονται δύο ἀλήθουσαι ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτό, ἡ μία παραλημφθήσεται ἡ δὲ ἑτέρα ἀφεθήσεται. |
[35]And two women will be grinding together; one will be taken away, and the other left. |
| [36]Two will be in the field; one will be taken, and the other left. |
| [37]καὶ ἀποκριθέντες λέγουσιν αὐτῶ, ποῦ, κύριε; ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, ὅπου τὸ σῶμα, ἐκεῖ καὶ οἱ ἀετοὶ ἐπισυναχθήσονται. |
[37]They answered and said to him, Our Lord, to what place? He said to them, Wherever the corpse is, there will the eagles gather. |
