|
| [1]AndG2532 he went outG1831[G5627] from thenceG1564, andG2532 cameG2064[G5627] intoG1519 his ownG846 countryG3968; andG2532 hisG846 disciplesG3101 followG190[G5719] himG846. |
[1]Afterward he departed thence, and came into his own country, and his disciples followed him. |
| [2]AndG2532 when the sabbath dayG4521 was comeG1096[G5637], he beganG756[G5662] to teachG1321[G5721] inG1722 the synagogueG4864: andG2532 manyG4183 hearingG191[G5723] him were astonishedG1605[G5712], sayingG3004[G5723], From whenceG4159 hath thisG5129 man these thingsG5023? andG2532 whatG5101 wisdomG4678 is this which is givenG1325[G5685] unto himG846, thatG3754 evenG2532 suchG5108 mighty worksG1411 are wroughtG1096[G5736] byG1223 hisG846 handsG5495? |
[2]And when the Sabbath was come, he began to teach in the Synagogue, and many that heard him, were astonished, and said, From whence hath he these things? and what wisdom is this that is given unto him, that even such great works are done by his hands? |
| [3]IsG2076[G5748] notG3756 thisG3778 the carpenterG5045, the sonG5207 of MaryG3137,[G1161] the brotherG80 of JamesG2385, andG2532 JosesG2500, andG2532 of JudaG2455, andG2532 SimonG4613? andG2532 areG1526[G5748] notG3756 hisG846 sistersG79 hereG5602 withG4314 usG2248? AndG2532 they were offendedG4624[G5712] atG1722 himG846. |
[3]Is not this the carpenter Mary's son, the brother of James and Joseph, and of Judah and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended in him. |
| [4]ButG1161 JesusG2424 saidG3004[G5707] unto themG846[G3754], A prophetG4396 isG2076[G5748] notG3756 without honourG820, butG1508 inG1722 his ownG846 countryG3968, andG2532 amongG1722 his own kinG4773, andG2532 inG1722 his ownG846 houseG3614. |
[4]Then Jesus said unto them, A Prophet is not without honor, but in his own country, and among his own kindred, and in his own house. |
| [5]AndG2532 he couldG3756[G1410][G5711] thereG1563 doG4160[G5658] noG3762 mighty workG1411, saveG1508 that he laidG2007[G5631] his handsG5495 upon a fewG3641 sick folkG732, and healedG2323 themG5656. |
[5]And he could there do no great works save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them, |
| [6]AndG2532 he marvelledG2296[G5707] becauseG1223 of theirG846 unbeliefG570. AndG2532 he wentG4013[G5707] round aboutG2945 the villagesG2968, teachingG1321.[G5723] |
[6]And he marveled at their unbelief, and went about by the towns on every side, teaching. |
| [7]AndG2532 he calledG4341[G5736] unto him the twelveG1427, andG2532 beganG756[G5662] to sendG649 themG846 forthG649[G5721] by twoG1417 and twoG1417; andG2532 gaveG1325[G5707] themG846 power overG1849 uncleanG169 spiritsG4151; |
[7]And he called the twelve, and began to send them two and two, and gave them power over unclean spirits, |
| [8]AndG2532 commandedG3853[G5656] themG846 thatG2443 they should takeG142[G5725] nothingG3367 forG1519 their journeyG3598, saveG1508 a staffG4464 onlyG3440; noG3361 scripG4082, noG3361 breadG740, noG3361 moneyG5475 inG1519 their purseG2223: |
[8]And commanded them, that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only: neither scrip, neither bread, neither money in their girdles, |
| [9]ButG235 be shodG5265[G5772] with sandalsG4547; andG2532 notG3361 put onG1746[G5672][G5625][G1746][G5670] twoG1417 coatsG5509. |
[9]But that they should be shod with sandals, and that they should not put on two coats. |
| [10]AndG2532 he saidG3004[G5707] unto themG846, In what place soeverG3699[G1437] ye enterG1525[G5632] intoG1519 an houseG3614, thereG1563 abideG3306[G5720] tillG2193[G302] ye departG1831[G5632] from that placeG1564. |
[10]And he said unto them, Wheresoever ye shall enter into a house, there abide till ye depart thence. |
| [11]AndG2532 whosoeverG3745[G302] shallG1209 notG3361 receiveG1209[G5667] youG5209, norG3366 hearG191[G5661] youG5216, when ye departG1607[G5740] thenceG1564, shake offG1621[G5657] the dustG5522 underG5270 yourG5216 feetG4228 forG1519 a testimonyG3142 against themG846. VerilyG281 I sayG3004[G5719] unto youG5213, It shall beG2071[G5704] more tolerableG414 for SodomG4670 andG2228 GomorrhaG1116 inG1722 the dayG2250 of judgmentG2920, thanG2228 for thatG1565 cityG4172. |
[11]And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust that is under your feet, for a witness unto them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be easier for Sodom, or Gomorrha at the Day of Judgment, than for that city. |
| [12]AndG2532 they went outG1831[G5631], and preachedG2784[G5707] thatG2443 men should repentG3340.[G5661] |
[12]And they went out and preached, that men should amend their lives. |
| [13]AndG2532 they cast outG1544[G5707] manyG4183 devilsG1140, andG2532 anointedG218[G5707] with oilG1637 manyG4183 that were sickG732, andG2532 healedG2323 themG5707. |
[13]And they cast out many devils: and they anointed many that were sick, with oil, and healed them. |
| [14]AndG2532 kingG935 HerodG2264 heardG191[G5656] of him; (forG1063 hisG846 nameG3686 wasG1096[G5633] spread abroadG5318:) andG2532 he saidG3004[G5707], ThatG3754 JohnG2491 the BaptistG907[G5723] was risenG1453[G5681] fromG1537 the deadG3498, andG2532 thereforeG1223[G5124] mighty worksG1411 do shew forth themselvesG1754[G5719] inG1722 himG846. |
[14]Then King Herod heard of him (for his name was spread abroad) and said, John Baptist is risen again from the dead, and therefore great works are wrought by him. |
| [15]OthersG243 saidG3004[G5707], ThatG3754 it isG2076[G5748] EliasG2243. AndG1161 othersG243 saidG3004[G5707], ThatG3754 it isG2076[G5748] a prophetG4396, orG2228 asG5613 one ofG1520 the prophetsG4396. |
[15]Other said, It is Elijah: and some said, It is a Prophet, or as one of the Prophets. |
| [16]ButG1161 when HerodG2264 heardG191[G5660] thereof, he saidG2036[G5627], ItG3778 isG2076[G5748] JohnG2491, whomG3754[G3739] IG1473 beheadedG607[G5656]: heG846 is risenG1453[G5681] fromG1537 the deadG3498. |
[16]So when Herod heard it, he said, It is John whom I beheaded: he is risen from the dead. |
| [17]ForG1063 HerodG2264 himselfG846 had sent forthG649[G5660] and laid holdG2902[G5656] upon JohnG2491, andG2532 boundG1210[G5656] himG846 inG1722 prisonG5438 forG1223 Herodias'G2266 sakeG1223, hisG846 brotherG80 Philip'sG5376 wifeG1135: forG3754 he had marriedG1060[G5656] herG846. |
[17]For Herod himself had sent forth, and had taken John, and bound him in prison for Herodias sake, which was his brother Philips wife, because he had married her. |
| [18]ForG1063 JohnG2491 had saidG3004[G5707] unto HerodG2264,[G3754] It isG1832 notG3756 lawfulG1832[G5748] for theeG4671 to haveG2192[G5721] thyG4675 brother'sG80 wifeG1135. |
[18]For John said unto Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brothers wife. |
| [19]ThereforeG1161 HerodiasG2266 had a quarrelG1758[G5707] against himG846, andG2532 wouldG2309[G5707] have killedG615[G5658] himG846; butG2532 she couldG1410[G5711] notG3756: |
[19]Therefore Herodias had a quarrel against him, and would have killed him, but she could not: |
| [20]ForG1063 HerodG2264 fearedG5399[G5711] JohnG2491, knowingG1492[G5761] that heG846 was a justG1342 manG435 andG2532 an holyG40, andG2532 observedG4933[G5707] himG846; andG2532 when he heardG191[G5660] himG846, he didG4160[G5707] many thingsG4183, andG2532 heardG191[G5707] himG846 gladlyG2234. |
[20]For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man, and an holy, and reverenced him, and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly. |
| [21]AndG2532 when a convenientG2121 dayG2250 was comeG1096[G5637], thatG3753 HerodG2264 on hisG846 birthdayG1077 madeG4160[G5707] a supperG1173 to hisG846 lordsG3175,[G2532] high captainsG5506, andG2532 chiefG4413 estates of GalileeG1056; |
[21]But the time being convenient, when Herod on his birthday made a banquet to his princes and captains, and chief estates of Galilee: |
| [22]AndG2532 when the daughterG2364 of the saidG846 HerodiasG2266 came inG1525[G5631], andG2532 dancedG3738[G5666], andG2532 pleasedG700[G5660] HerodG2264 andG2532 them that sat with himG4873[G5740], the kingG935 saidG2036[G5627] unto the damselG2877, AskG154[G5657] of meG3165 whatsoeverG3739[G1437] thou wiltG2309[G5725], andG2532 I will giveG1325[G5692] it theeG4671. |
[22]And the daughter of the same Herodias came in and danced, and pleased Herod and them that sat at table together, the King said unto the maid, Ask of me what thou wilt, and I will gave it thee. |
| [23]AndG2532 he swareG3660[G5656] unto herG846, WhatsoeverG3754[G3739][G1437] thou shalt askG154[G5661] of meG3165, I will giveG1325[G5692] it theeG4671, untoG2193 the halfG2255 of myG3450 kingdomG932. |
[23]And he swear unto her, Whatsoever thou shalt ask of me, I will gave it thee, even unto the half of my Kingdom. |
| [24]AndG1161 she went forthG1831[G5631], and saidG2036[G5627] unto herG846 motherG3384, WhatG5101 shall I askG154[G5698]? AndG1161 she saidG2036[G5627], The headG2776 of JohnG2491 the BaptistG910. |
[24]So she went forth, and said to her mother, What shall I ask? And she said, John Baptist's head. |
| [25]AndG2532 she came inG1525[G5631] straightwayG2112 withG3326 hasteG4710 untoG4314 the kingG935, and askedG154[G5668], sayingG3004[G5723], I willG2309[G5719] thatG2443 thou giveG1325[G5632] meG3427 by and byG1824 inG1909 a chargerG4094 the headG2776 of JohnG2491 the BaptistG910. |
[25]Then she came in straightway with haste unto the King, and asked, saying, I would that thou shouldest gave me even now in a charger the head of John Baptist. |
| [26]AndG2532 the kingG935 wasG1096[G5637] exceeding sorryG4036; yet forG1223 his oath's sakeG3727, andG2532 for their sakes whichG3588 sat with himG4873[G5740], he wouldG2309[G5656] notG3756 rejectG114[G5658] herG846. |
[26]Then the King was very sorry: yet for his oaths sake, and for their sakes which sat at table with him, he would not refuse her. |
| [27]AndG2532 immediatelyG2112 the kingG935 sentG649[G5660] an executionerG4688, and commandedG2004[G5656] hisG846 headG2776 to be broughtG5342[G5683]: andG1161 he wentG565[G5631] and beheadedG607[G5656] himG846 inG1722 the prisonG5438, |
[27]And immediately the King sent the hangman, and gave charge that his head should be brought. So he went and beheaded him in the prison, |
| [28]AndG2532 broughtG5342[G5656] hisG846 headG2776 inG1909 a chargerG4094, andG2532 gaveG1325[G5656] itG846 to the damselG2877: andG2532 the damselG2877 gaveG1325[G5656] itG846 to herG846 motherG3384. |
[28]And brought his head in a charger, and gave it to the maid, and the maid gave it to her mother. |
| [29]AndG2532 when hisG846 disciplesG3101 heardG191[G5660] of it, they cameG2064[G5627] andG2532 took upG142[G5656] hisG846 corpseG4430, andG2532 laidG5087[G5656] itG846 inG1722 a tombG3419. |
[29]And when his disciples heard it, they came and took up his body, and put it in a tomb. |
| [30]AndG2532 the apostlesG652 gathered themselves togetherG4863[G5743] untoG4314 JesusG2424, andG2532 toldG518[G5656] himG846 all thingsG3956, bothG2532 whatG3745 they had doneG4160[G5656], andG2532 whatG3745 they had taughtG1321.[G5656] |
[30]And the Apostles gathered themselves together to Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught. |
| [31]AndG2532 he saidG2036[G5627] unto themG846, ComeG1205[G5773] yeG5210 yourselvesG846 apartG2596[G2398] intoG1519 a desertG2048 placeG5117, andG2532 restG373[G5732] a whileG3641: forG1063 there wereG2258[G5713] manyG4183 comingG2064[G5740] andG2532 goingG5217[G5723], andG2532 they had noG3761 leisureG2119[G5707] so much asG3761 to eatG5315.[G5629] |
[31]And he said unto them, Come ye apart into the wilderness, and rest a while: for there were many comers and goers, that they had not leisure to eat. |
| [32]AndG2532 they departedG565[G5627] intoG1519 a desertG2048 placeG5117 by shipG4143 privatelyG2596.[G2398] |
[32]So they went by ship out of the way into a desert place. |
| [33]AndG2532 the peopleG3793 sawG1492[G5627] themG846 departingG5217[G5723], andG2532 manyG4183 knewG1921[G5627] himG846, andG2532 ranG4936[G5627] afootG3979 thitherG1563 out ofG575 allG3956 citiesG4172, andG2532 outwentG4281[G5627] themG846, andG2532 came togetherG4905[G5627] untoG4314 himG846. |
[33]But the people saw them when they departed, and many knew him, and ran a foot thither out of all cities, and came thither before them, and assembled unto him. |
| [34]AndG2532 JesusG2424, when he came outG1831[G5631], sawG1492[G5627] muchG4183 peopleG3793, andG2532 was moved with compassionG4697[G5675] towardG1909 themG846, becauseG3754 they wereG2258[G5713] asG5613 sheepG4263 notG3361 havingG2192[G5723] a shepherdG4166: andG2532 he beganG756[G5662] to teachG1321[G5721] themG846 many thingsG4183. |
[34]Then Jesus went out, and saw a great multitude, and had compassion on them, because they were like sheep which had no shepherd: and he began to teach them many things. |
| [35]AndG2532 when the dayG5610 wasG1096[G5637] nowG2235 far spentG4183, hisG846 disciplesG3101 cameG4334[G5631] unto himG846, and saidG3004[G5719],[G3754] This isG2076[G5748] a desertG2048 placeG5117, andG2532 nowG2235 the timeG5610 is far passedG4183: |
[35]And when the day was now far spent, his disciples came unto him, saying, This is a desert place, and now the day is far passed. |
| [36]SendG630 themG846 awayG630[G5657], thatG2443 they may goG565[G5631] intoG1519 the countryG68 round aboutG2945, andG2532 into the villagesG2968, and buyG59[G5661] themselvesG1438 breadG740: forG1063 they haveG2192[G5719] nothingG5101[G3756] to eatG5315.[G5632] |
[36]Let them depart, that they may go into the villages and towns about, and buy them bread: for they have nothing to eat? |
| [37]He answeredG611[G5679] andG1161 saidG2036[G5627] unto themG846, GiveG1325[G5628] yeG5210 themG846 to eatG5315[G5629]. AndG2532 they sayG3004[G5719] unto himG846, Shall we goG565[G5631] and buyG59[G5661] two hundredG1250 pennyworthG1220 of breadG740, andG2532 giveG1325[G5632] themG846 to eatG5315?[G5629] |
[37]But he answered, and said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they said unto him, Shall we go and buy two hundred penny worth of bread, and gave them to eat? |
| [38][G1161]He saithG3004[G5719] unto themG846, How manyG4214 loavesG740 have yeG2192[G5719]? goG5217[G5720] andG2532 seeG1492[G5628]. AndG2532 when they knewG1097[G5631], they sayG3004[G5719], FiveG4002, andG2532 twoG1417 fishesG2486. |
[38]Then he said unto them, How many loaves have ye? go and look. And when they knew it, they said, Five, and two fishes. |
| [39]AndG2532 he commandedG2004[G5656] themG846 to makeG347 allG3956 sit downG347[G5658] by companiesG4849[G4849] uponG1909 the greenG5515 grassG5528. |
[39]So he commanded them, to make them all sit down by companies upon the green grass. |
| [40]AndG2532 they sat downG377[G5627] in ranksG4237[G4237], byG303 hundredsG1540, andG2532 byG303 fiftiesG4004. |
[40]Then they sat down by rows, by hundreds, and by fifties. |
| [41]AndG2532 when he had takenG2983[G5631] the fiveG4002 loavesG740 andG2532 the twoG1417 fishesG2486, he looked upG308[G5660] toG1519 heavenG3772, and blessedG2127[G5656], andG2532 brakeG2622[G5656] the loavesG740, andG2532 gaveG1325[G5707] them to hisG846 disciplesG3101 toG2443 set beforeG3908[G5632] themG846; andG2532 the twoG1417 fishesG2486 divided heG3307[G5656] among them allG3956. |
[41]And he took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looked up to heaven, and gave thanks and brakes the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them, and the two fishes he divided among them all. |
| [42]AndG2532 they didG5315 allG3956 eatG5315[G5627], andG2532 were filledG5526.[G5681] |
[42]So they did all eat, and were satisfied. |
| [43]AndG2532 they took upG142[G5656] twelveG1427 basketsG2894 fullG4134 of the fragmentsG2801, andG2532 ofG575 the fishesG2486. |
[43]And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments, and of the fishes. |
| [44]AndG2532 they that did eatG5315[G5631] of the loavesG740 wereG2258[G5713] aboutG5616 five thousandG4000 menG435. |
[44]And they that had eaten, were about five thousand men. |
| [45]AndG2532 straightwayG2112 he constrainedG315[G5656] hisG846 disciplesG3101 to getG1684[G5629] intoG1519 the shipG4143, andG2532 to goG4254 toG1519 the other sideG4008 beforeG4254[G5721] untoG4314 BethsaidaG966, whileG2193 heG846 sent awayG630[G5661] the peopleG3793. |
[45]And straightway he caused his disciples to go into the ship, and to go before unto the other side unto Bethsaida, while he sent away the people. |
| [46]AndG2532 when he had sentG657 themG846 awayG657[G5671], he departedG565[G5627] intoG1519 a mountainG3735 to prayG4336.[G5664] |
[46]Then as soon as he had sent them away, he departed into a mountain to pray. |
| [47]AndG2532 when evenG3798 was comeG1096[G5637], the shipG4143 wasG2258[G5713] inG1722 the midstG3319 of the seaG2281, andG2532 heG846 aloneG3441 onG1909 the landG1093. |
[47]And when even was come, the ship was in the midst of the sea, and he alone on the land. |
| [48]AndG2532 he sawG1492[G5627] themG846 toilingG928[G5746] inG1722 rowingG1643[G5721]; forG1063 the windG417 wasG2258[G5713] contraryG1727 unto themG846: andG2532 aboutG4012 the fourthG5067 watchG5438 of the nightG3571 he comethG2064[G5736] untoG4314 themG846, walkingG4043[G5723] uponG1909 the seaG2281, andG2532 wouldG2309[G5707] have passed byG3928[G5629] themG846. |
[48]And he saw them troubled in rowing, (for the wind was contrary unto them) and about the fourth watch of the night, he came unto them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them. |
| [49]ButG1161 when they sawG1492[G5631] himG846 walkingG4043[G5723] uponG1909 the seaG2281, they supposedG1380[G5656] it had beenG1511[G5750] a spiritG5326, andG2532 cried outG349:[G5656] |
[49]And when they saw him walking upon the sea, they supposed it had been a spirit, and cried out. |
| [50]ForG1063 they allG3956 sawG1492[G5627] himG846, andG2532 were troubledG5015[G5681]. AndG2532 immediatelyG2112 he talkedG2980[G5656] withG3326 themG846, andG2532 saithG3004[G5719] unto themG846, Be of good cheerG2293[G5720]: it isG1510[G5748] IG1473; beG5399 notG3361 afraidG5399.[G5737] |
[50]For they all saw him, and were sore afraid: but anon he talked with them, and said unto them, Be of good comfort: it is I, be not afraid. |
| [51]AndG2532 he went upG305[G5627] untoG4314 themG846 intoG1519 the shipG4143; andG2532 the windG417 ceasedG2869[G5656]: andG2532 they were soreG3029 amazedG1839[G5710] inG1722 themselvesG1438 beyondG1537 measureG4053, andG2532 wonderedG2296.[G5707] |
[51]Then he went up unto them into the ship, and the wind ceased, and they were sore amazed in themselves beyond measure, and marveled. |
| [52]ForG1063 they consideredG4920[G5656] notG3756 the miracle ofG1909 the loavesG740: forG1063 theirG846 heartG2588 wasG2258[G5713] hardenedG4456.[G5772] |
[52]For they had not considered the matter of the loaves, because their hearts were hardened. |
| [53]AndG2532 when they had passed overG1276[G5660], they cameG2064[G5627] intoG1909 the landG1093 of GennesaretG1082, andG2532 drew to the shoreG4358.[G5681] |
[53]And they came over, and went into the land of Gennesaret, and arrived. |
| [54]AndG2532 when theyG846 were comeG1831[G5631] out ofG1537 the shipG4143, straightwayG2112 they knewG1921[G5631] himG846, |
[54]So when they were come out of the ship, straightway they knew him, |
| [55]And ran throughG4063[G5631] thatG1565 wholeG3650 region round aboutG4066, and beganG756[G5662] to carry aboutG4064[G5721] inG1909 bedsG2895 those that wereG2192[G5723] sickG2560, whereG3699 they heardG191[G5707] he wasG3754[G1563][G2076].[G5748] |
[55]And ran about throughout all that region round about, and began to carry hither and thither in beds all that were sick, where they heard that he was. |
| [56]AndG2532 whithersoeverG3699[G302] he enteredG1531[G5711], intoG1519 villagesG2968, orG2228 citiesG4172, orG2228 countryG68, they laidG5087[G5707] the sickG770[G5723] inG1722 the streetsG58, andG2532 besoughtG3870[G5707] himG846 thatG2443 they might touchG680[G5672] ifG2579 it were butG2579 the borderG2899 of hisG846 garmentG2440: andG2532 as manyG3745 asG302 touchedG680[G5711] himG846 were made wholeG4982.[G5712] |
[56]And whithersoever he entered into towns, or cities, or villages, they laid their sick in the streets, and prayed him that they might touch at the least the edge of his garment. And as many as touched him, were made whole. |
