| [1]καὶ προσκαλεσάμενος τοὺς δώδεκα μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ ἔδωκεν αὐτοῖς ἐξουσίαν πνευμάτων ἀκαθάρτων ὥστε ἐκβάλλειν αὐτὰ καὶ θεραπεύειν πᾶσαν νόσον καὶ πᾶσαν μαλακίαν. |
[1]And when he had called his twelue disciples [vnto hym] he gaue them power agaynst vncleane spirites, to cast them out, and to heale all maner of sicknesse, and all maner of disease |
| [2]τῶν δὲ δώδεκα ἀποστόλων τὰ ὀνόματά ἐστιν ταῦτα· πρῶτος σίμων ὁ λεγόμενος πέτρος καὶ ἀνδρέας ὁ ἀδελφὸς αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἰάκωβος ὁ τοῦ ζεβεδαίου καὶ ἰωάννης ὁ ἀδελφὸς αὐτοῦ, |
[2]The names of the twelue Apostles are these. The first, Simon, whiche is called Peter, and Andrewe his brother, Iames, the [sonne] of Zebedee, & Iohn his brother |
| [3]φίλιππος καὶ βαρθολομαῖος, θωμᾶς καὶ μαθθαῖος ὁ τελώνης, ἰάκωβος ὁ τοῦ ἁλφαίου καὶ θαδδαῖος, |
[3]Philip, & Bartholomewe, Thomas and Matthewe, which [had ben] a Publicane, Iames, ye [sonne] of Alphee, & Lebbeus, whose surname was Taddeus |
| [4]σίμων ὁ καναναῖος καὶ ἰούδας ὁ ἰσκαριώτης ὁ καὶ παραδοὺς αὐτόν. |
[4]Simon [the] Cananite, & Iudas Iscariot, which also betrayed hym |
| [5]τούτους τοὺς δώδεκα ἀπέστειλεν ὁ ἰησοῦς παραγγείλας αὐτοῖς λέγων, εἰς ὁδὸν ἐθνῶν μὴ ἀπέλθητε, καὶ εἰς πόλιν σαμαριτῶν μὴ εἰσέλθητε· |
[5]Iesus sent foorth these twelue, who he comaunded, saying. Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into the citie of the Samaritanes enter ye not |
| [6]πορεύεσθε δὲ μᾶλλον πρὸς τὰ πρόβατα τὰ ἀπολωλότα οἴκου ἰσραήλ. |
[6]But go rather to the lost sheepe of the house of Israel |
| [7]πορευόμενοι δὲ κηρύσσετε λέγοντες ὅτι ἤγγικεν ἡ βασιλεία τῶν οὐρανῶν. |
[7]As ye go, preache, saying: The kyngdome of heauen is at hande |
| [8]ἀσθενοῦντας θεραπεύετε, νεκροὺς ἐγείρετε, λεπροὺς καθαρίζετε, δαιμόνια ἐκβάλλετε· δωρεὰν ἐλάβετε, δωρεὰν δότε. |
[8]Heale the sicke, cleanse ye lepers, rayse the dead, cast out deuyls. Freely ye haue receaued, freely geue |
| [9]μὴ κτήσησθε χρυσὸν μηδὲ ἄργυρον μηδὲ χαλκὸν εἰς τὰς ζώνας ὑμῶν, |
[9]Possesse not golde, nor syluer, nor brasse in your purses |
| [10]μὴ πήραν εἰς ὁδὸν μηδὲ δύο χιτῶνας μηδὲ ὑποδήματα μηδὲ ῥάβδον· ἄξιος γὰρ ὁ ἐργάτης τῆς τροφῆς αὐτοῦ. |
[10]Nor yet scrippe, towardes your iourney, neither two coates, neither shoes, nor yet a staffe. For the workman is worthy of his meate |
| [11]εἰς ἣν δ᾽ ἂν πόλιν ἢ κώμην εἰσέλθητε, ἐξετάσατε τίς ἐν αὐτῇ ἄξιός ἐστιν· κἀκεῖ μείνατε ἕως ἂν ἐξέλθητε. |
[11]But to whatsoeuer citie or towne ye shall come, inquire who is worthy in it, and there abyde, tyll ye go thence |
| [12]εἰσερχόμενοι δὲ εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν ἀσπάσασθε αὐτήν· |
[12]And when ye come into an house, salute the same |
| [13]καὶ ἐὰν μὲν ᾖ ἡ οἰκία ἀξία, ἐλθάτω ἡ εἰρήνη ὑμῶν ἐπ᾽ αὐτήν· ἐὰν δὲ μὴ ᾖ ἀξία, ἡ εἰρήνη ὑμῶν πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἐπιστραφήτω. |
[13]And if the house be worthy, let your peace come vpon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace returne to you again |
| [14]καὶ ὃς ἂν μὴ δέξηται ὑμᾶς μηδὲ ἀκούσῃ τοὺς λόγους ὑμῶν, ἐξερχόμενοι ἔξω τῆς οἰκίας ἢ τῆς πόλεως ἐκείνης ἐκτινάξατε τὸν κονιορτὸν τῶν ποδῶν ὑμῶν. |
[14]And whosoeuer shal not receaue you, nor wyll heare your preachyng: when ye depart out of that house, or that citie, shake of the dust of your feete |
| [15]ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, ἀνεκτότερον ἔσται γῇ σοδόμων καὶ γομόρρων ἐν ἡμέρᾳ κρίσεως ἢ τῇ πόλει ἐκείνῃ. |
[15]Ueryly I say vnto you, it shalbe easier for the lande of the Sodomites and Gomorreans, in the day of iudgement, then for that citie |
| [16]ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἀποστέλλω ὑμᾶς ὡς πρόβατα ἐν μέσῳ λύκων· γίνεσθε οὗν φρόνιμοι ὡς οἱ ὄφεις καὶ ἀκέραιοι ὡς αἱ περιστεραί. |
[16]Beholde, I sende you foorth, as sheepe in the middest of woolfes. Be ye therfore wyse as serpentes, and harmelesse as doues |
| [17]προσέχετε δὲ ἀπὸ τῶν ἀνθρώπων· παραδώσουσιν γὰρ ὑμᾶς εἰς συνέδρια, καὶ ἐν ταῖς συναγωγαῖς αὐτῶν μαστιγώσουσιν ὑμᾶς· |
[17]But beware of men. For they shall delyuer you vp to the councels, and shal scourge you in their synagogues |
| [18]καὶ ἐπὶ ἡγεμόνας δὲ καὶ βασιλεῖς ἀχθήσεσθε ἕνεκεν ἐμοῦ εἰς μαρτύριον αὐτοῖς καὶ τοῖς ἔθνεσιν. |
[18]And ye shalbe brought to the head rulers, and kynges, for my sake, in witnesse to them, and to the Gentiles |
| [19]ὅταν δὲ παραδῶσιν ὑμᾶς, μὴ μεριμνήσητε πῶς ἢ τί λαλήσητε· δοθήσεται γὰρ ὑμῖν ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ὥρᾳ τί λαλήσητε· |
[19]But whe they delyuer you vp, take ye no thought, how or what ye shal speake. For it shalbe geuen you, euen in that same houre, what ye shall speake |
| [20]οὐ γὰρ ὑμεῖς ἐστε οἱ λαλοῦντες ἀλλὰ τὸ πνεῦμα τοῦ πατρὸς ὑμῶν τὸ λαλοῦν ἐν ὑμῖν. |
[20]For it is not ye that speake, but ye spirite of your father, which speaketh in you |
| [21]παραδώσει δὲ ἀδελφὸς ἀδελφὸν εἰς θάνατον καὶ πατὴρ τέκνον, καὶ ἐπαναστήσονται τέκνα ἐπὶ γονεῖς καὶ θανατώσουσιν αὐτούς. |
[21]The brother shall delyuer vp the brother to death, and the father the sonne, & the chyldren shall ryse agaynst their fathers, and mothers, and shall put them to death |
| [22]καὶ ἔσεσθε μισούμενοι ὑπὸ πάντων διὰ τὸ ὄνομά μου· ὁ δὲ ὑπομείνας εἰς τέλος οὖτος σωθήσεται. |
[22]And ye shalbe hated of all men, for my names sake: but he that endureth to the ende, shalbe saued |
| [23]ὅταν δὲ διώκωσιν ὑμᾶς ἐν τῇ πόλει ταύτῃ, φεύγετε εἰς τὴν ἑτέραν· ἀμὴν γὰρ λέγω ὑμῖν, οὐ μὴ τελέσητε τὰς πόλεις τοῦ ἰσραὴλ ἕως ἂν ἔλθῃ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου. |
[23]But, when they persecute you in this citie, flee ye into another. For verily I say vnto you, ye shall not ende all the cities of Israel, tyll the sonne of man be come |
| [24]οὐκ ἔστιν μαθητὴς ὑπὲρ τὸν διδάσκαλον οὐδὲ δοῦλος ὑπὲρ τὸν κύριον αὐτοῦ. |
[24]The disciple is not aboue the maister, nor the seruaunt aboue his lorde |
| [25]ἀρκετὸν τῶ μαθητῇ ἵνα γένηται ὡς ὁ διδάσκαλος αὐτοῦ, καὶ ὁ δοῦλος ὡς ὁ κύριος αὐτοῦ. εἰ τὸν οἰκοδεσπότην βεελζεβοὺλ ἐπεκάλεσαν, πόσῳ μᾶλλον τοὺς οἰκιακοὺς αὐτοῦ. |
[25]It is enough for the disciple, that he be as his maister is: and that the seruaunt, be as his lorde is. If they haue called the lorde of the house Beelzebub: howe much more shall they call them of his householde so |
| [26]μὴ οὗν φοβηθῆτε αὐτούς· οὐδὲν γάρ ἐστιν κεκαλυμμένον ὃ οὐκ ἀποκαλυφθήσεται, καὶ κρυπτὸν ὃ οὐ γνωσθήσεται. |
[26]Feare them not therfore. For there is nothing close, that shal not be opened: & nothing hyd, that shall not be knowen |
| [27]ὃ λέγω ὑμῖν ἐν τῇ σκοτίᾳ, εἴπατε ἐν τῶ φωτί· καὶ ὃ εἰς τὸ οὗς ἀκούετε, κηρύξατε ἐπὶ τῶν δωμάτων. |
[27]What I tell you in darknesse, that speake ye in lyght: And what ye heare in the eare, that preach ye on the houses |
| [28]καὶ μὴ φοβεῖσθε ἀπὸ τῶν ἀποκτεννόντων τὸ σῶμα, τὴν δὲ ψυχὴν μὴ δυναμένων ἀποκτεῖναι· φοβεῖσθε δὲ μᾶλλον τὸν δυνάμενον καὶ ψυχὴν καὶ σῶμα ἀπολέσαι ἐν γεέννῃ. |
[28]And feare ye not them, which kyll the body, but are not able to kyll the soule. But rather feare hym, which is able to destroy both soule and body in hell |
| [29]οὐχὶ δύο στρουθία ἀσσαρίου πωλεῖται; καὶ ἓν ἐξ αὐτῶν οὐ πεσεῖται ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν ἄνευ τοῦ πατρὸς ὑμῶν. |
[29]Are not two litle sparowes solde for a farthyng? And one of the shall not light on the grounde, without your father |
| [30]ὑμῶν δὲ καὶ αἱ τρίχες τῆς κεφαλῆς πᾶσαι ἠριθμημέναι εἰσίν. |
[30]Yea, euen all the heeres of your head are numbred |
| [31]μὴ οὗν φοβεῖσθε· πολλῶν στρουθίων διαφέρετε ὑμεῖς. |
[31]Feare ye not therefore, ye are of more value then many sparowes |
| [32]πᾶς οὗν ὅστις ὁμολογήσει ἐν ἐμοὶ ἔμπροσθεν τῶν ἀνθρώπων, ὁμολογήσω κἀγὼ ἐν αὐτῶ ἔμπροσθεν τοῦ πατρός μου τοῦ ἐν [τοῖς] οὐρανοῖς· |
[32]Euery one therfore, that shall confesse me before men, hym wyll I confesse also, before my father, which is in heaues |
| [33]ὅστις δ᾽ ἂν ἀρνήσηταί με ἔμπροσθεν τῶν ἀνθρώπων, ἀρνήσομαι κἀγὼ αὐτὸν ἔμπροσθεν τοῦ πατρός μου τοῦ ἐν [τοῖς] οὐρανοῖς. |
[33]But whosoeuer shall denye me before men, hym wyll I also denye, before my father, which is in heauens |
| [34]μὴ νομίσητε ὅτι ἦλθον βαλεῖν εἰρήνην ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν· οὐκ ἦλθον βαλεῖν εἰρήνην ἀλλὰ μάχαιραν. |
[34]Thinke not that I am come to sende peace into the earth. I came not to sende peace, but a sworde |
| [35]ἦλθον γὰρ διχάσαι ἄνθρωπον κατὰ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ καὶ θυγατέρα κατὰ τῆς μητρὸς αὐτῆς καὶ νύμφην κατὰ τῆς πενθερᾶς αὐτῆς, |
[35]For I am come to set a man at varyaunce agaynst his father, & the daughter agaynst her mother, and the daughter in lawe agaynst her mother in lawe |
| [36]καὶ ἐχθροὶ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου οἱ οἰκιακοὶ αὐτοῦ. |
[36]And a mans foes [shalbe] they of his owne householde |
| [37]ὁ φιλῶν πατέρα ἢ μητέρα ὑπὲρ ἐμὲ οὐκ ἔστιν μου ἄξιος· καὶ ὁ φιλῶν υἱὸν ἢ θυγατέρα ὑπὲρ ἐμὲ οὐκ ἔστιν μου ἄξιος· |
[37]He that loueth father or mother, more then me, is not worthy of me. And he that loueth sonne or daughter, more the me, is not worthy of me |
| [38]καὶ ὃς οὐ λαμβάνει τὸν σταυρὸν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀκολουθεῖ ὀπίσω μου, οὐκ ἔστιν μου ἄξιος. |
[38]And he that taketh not his crosse, & foloweth me, is not worthy of me |
| [39]ὁ εὑρὼν τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ ἀπολέσει αὐτήν, καὶ ὁ ἀπολέσας τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ ἕνεκεν ἐμοῦ εὑρήσει αὐτήν. |
[39]He that findeth his life, shall lose it: and he that loseth his lyfe, for my sake, shall fynde it |
| [40]ὁ δεχόμενος ὑμᾶς ἐμὲ δέχεται, καὶ ὁ ἐμὲ δεχόμενος δέχεται τὸν ἀποστείλαντά με. |
[40]He that receaueth you, receaueth me: & he that receaueth me, receaueth hym that sent me |
| [41]ὁ δεχόμενος προφήτην εἰς ὄνομα προφήτου μισθὸν προφήτου λήμψεται, καὶ ὁ δεχόμενος δίκαιον εἰς ὄνομα δικαίου μισθὸν δικαίου λήμψεται. |
[41]He that receaueth a prophete, in the name of a prophete, shall receaue a prophetes rewarde. And he that receaueth a ryghteous man, in the name of a ryghteous man, shall receaue a ryghteous mans rewarde |
| [42]καὶ ὃς ἂν ποτίσῃ ἕνα τῶν μικρῶν τούτων ποτήριον ψυχροῦ μόνον εἰς ὄνομα μαθητοῦ, ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, οὐ μὴ ἀπολέσῃ τὸν μισθὸν αὐτοῦ. |
[42]And whosoeuer shall geue vnto one of these litle ones, to drynke, a cuppe of colde water only, in the name of a disciple, veryly I say vnto you, he shall not lose his rewarde |
