Peshitta NT (literal)
PesNT(lit)
[1]And it was that when had finished Ieshu charging the twelve His disciples He moved from there to teach and to preach in their cities
[2]ὁ δὲ ἰωάννης ἀκούσας ἐν τῶ δεσμωτηρίῳ τὰ ἔργα τοῦ χριστοῦ πέμψας διὰ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ [2]Yohanan but when He had heard in the house of prisoners His works of the Messiah he sent by the hand of his disciples
[3]εἶπεν αὐτῶ, σὺ εἶ ὁ ἐρχόμενος ἢ ἕτερον προσδοκῶμεν; [3]And he said to Him you are? He Who comes or another is He? expect we
[4]καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, πορευθέντες ἀπαγγείλατε ἰωάννῃ ἃ ἀκούετε καὶ βλέπετε· [4]Answered Ieshu and He said to them go relate to Yokhanan those things that hear you and see
[5]τυφλοὶ ἀναβλέπουσιν καὶ χωλοὶ περιπατοῦσιν, λεπροὶ καθαρίζονται καὶ κωφοὶ ἀκούουσιν, καὶ νεκροὶ ἐγείρονται καὶ πτωχοὶ εὐαγγελίζονται· [5]The blind see and the lame walk and lepers are purified and the deaf are hearing and the dead are rising and the poor are given good news
[6]And blessed is he who not will be stumbled by Me
[7]τούτων δὲ πορευομένων ἤρξατο ὁ ἰησοῦς λέγειν τοῖς ὄχλοις περὶ ἰωάννου, τί ἐξήλθατε εἰς τὴν ἔρημον θεάσασθαι; κάλαμον ὑπὸ ἀνέμου σαλευόμενον; [7]When but they departed began Ieshu to say to the crowds about Yokhanan what? did you go out to the wilderness to see a reed that by the wind is being shaken
[8]And if not what? did you go out to see a man who a long robe soft wears? behold those who soft things wear in the house of a king are
[9]Otherwise what? did you go out to see a prophet? yes say I to you and more than a prophet
[10]This is for he about whom it is written behold I sending am My messenger before your presence that he may prepare the road before You
[11]Amen I say to you that not has arisen among them born of a woman one greater than Yokhanan The Baptizer the little one but in the kingdom of Heaven greater is than he
[12]From the days of Yokhanan but The Baptizer and until this hour the Kingdom of Heaven by force is led and the violent are seizing it
[13]πάντες γὰρ οἱ προφῆται καὶ ὁ νόμος ἕως ἰωάννου ἐπροφήτευσαν· [13]They prophesied all of them for The Prophets and The Torah until Yokhanan
[14]And if willing you are accept that he is Elijah who was going to come
[15]Whoever that is to him an ear that will hear let him hear
[16]τίνι δὲ ὁμοιώσω τὴν γενεὰν ταύτην; ὁμοία ἐστὶν παιδίοις καθημένοις ἐν ταῖς ἀγοραῖς ἃ προσφωνοῦντα τοῖς ἑτέροις [16]To what? but shall I compare generation this it is like children sitting in the street and calling their playmates
[17]And saying we sang to you and not you danced and we cried to you and not you were sad
[18]ἦλθεν γὰρ ἰωάννης μήτε ἐσθίων μήτε πίνων, καὶ λέγουσιν, δαιμόνιον ἔχει· [18]Came for Yokhanan who nothing ate and nothing drank and they were saying a demon is in him
[19]Came The Son of Man eating and drinking and they were saying behold a man a glutton and drinker of wine and friend of tax collectors and of sinners and is justified wisdom by its works
[20]τότε ἤρξατο ὀνειδίζειν τὰς πόλεις ἐν αἷς ἐγένοντο αἱ πλεῖσται δυνάμεις αὐτοῦ, ὅτι οὐ μετενόησαν· [20]Then began Ieshu to reproach cities those where had happened in them His mighty works many and not they repented
[21]And said He woe to you Korazin woe to you Bethsaida for if in Tsur and in Tsidon had happened powerful works those that have happened in you doubtless but in sackcloth and in ashes they would have repented
[22]Yet say I to you that for Tsur and for Tsidon it will be tranquil in the day of judgment rather than for you
[23]And you Kapernakhum which unto Heaven you were exalted unto Sheol you will descend for if in Sadom had been done powerful works those that were done in you remained it would have until today
[24]But I say to you that for the land of Sadom it will be tranquil in the day of judgment rather than for you
[25]ἐν ἐκείνῳ τῶ καιρῶ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ ἰησοῦς εἶπεν, ἐξομολογοῦμαί σοι, πάτερ, κύριε τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ τῆς γῆς, ὅτι ἔκρυψας ταῦτα ἀπὸ σοφῶν καὶ συνετῶν καὶ ἀπεκάλυψας αὐτὰ νηπίοις· [25]At that time answered Ieshu and said thank I you My Father the Lord of Heaven and of the earth that You have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and You have revealed them to infants
[26]Yes My Father for thus it was desireable before You
[27]Every thing has been given up to Me by My Father and no man knows The Son except only The Father also not The Father a man knows except only The Son and he to whom wants The Son to reveal Him
[28]Come unto Me all of you who labor and are forced to bear burdens and I shall give you rest
[29]ἄρατε τὸν ζυγόν μου ἐφ᾽ ὑμᾶς καὶ μάθετε ἀπ᾽ ἐμοῦ, ὅτι πραΰς εἰμι καὶ ταπεινὸς τῇ καρδίᾳ, καὶ εὑρήσετε ἀνάπαυσιν ταῖς ψυχαῖς ὑμῶν· [29]Take My yoke on you and learn from Me for peaceful I and meek am in My heart and will find you rest for your souls
[30]My yoke for pleasant is and My burden light is
