| [1]τότε προσέρχονται τῶ ἰησοῦ ἀπὸ ἱεροσολύμων φαρισαῖοι καὶ γραμματεῖς λέγοντες, |
[1]Then came to Jesus the Scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying, |
| [2]διὰ τί οἱ μαθηταί σου παραβαίνουσιν τὴν παράδοσιν τῶν πρεσβυτέρων; οὐ γὰρ νίπτονται τὰς χεῖρας [αὐτῶν] ὅταν ἄρτον ἐσθίωσιν. |
[2]Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the Elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread. |
| [3]ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, διὰ τί καὶ ὑμεῖς παραβαίνετε τὴν ἐντολὴν τοῦ θεοῦ διὰ τὴν παράδοσιν ὑμῶν; |
[3]But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? |
| [4]ὁ γὰρ θεὸς εἶπεν, τίμα τὸν πατέρα καὶ τὴν μητέρα, καί, ὁ κακολογῶν πατέρα ἢ μητέρα θανάτῳ τελευτάτω· |
[4]For God hath commanded, saying, Honor thy father and mother: and he that curseth father or mother, let him die the death. |
| [5]ὑμεῖς δὲ λέγετε, ὃς ἂν εἴπῃ τῶ πατρὶ ἢ τῇ μητρί, δῶρον ὃ ἐὰν ἐξ ἐμοῦ ὠφεληθῇς, |
[5]But ye say, Whosoever shall say to father or mother, By the gift that is offered by me, thou mayest have profit, |
| [6]οὐ μὴ τιμήσει τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ· καὶ ἠκυρώσατε τὸν λόγον τοῦ θεοῦ διὰ τὴν παράδοσιν ὑμῶν. |
[6]Though he honor not his father, or his mother, shall be free: thus have ye made the commandment of God of no authority by your tradition. |
| [7]ὑποκριταί, καλῶς ἐπροφήτευσεν περὶ ὑμῶν ἠσαΐας λέγων, |
[7]O hypocrites, Isaiah prophesied well of you, saying, |
| [8]ὁ λαὸς οὖτος τοῖς χείλεσίν με τιμᾷ, ἡ δὲ καρδία αὐτῶν πόρρω ἀπέχει ἀπ᾽ ἐμοῦ· |
[8]This people draweth near unto me with their mouth, and honoreth me with the lips, but their heart is far off from me. |
| [9]μάτην δὲ σέβονταί με, διδάσκοντες διδασκαλίας ἐντάλματα ἀνθρώπων. |
[9]But in vain they worship me, teaching for doctrines, mens precepts. |
| [10]καὶ προσκαλεσάμενος τὸν ὄχλον εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, ἀκούετε καὶ συνίετε· |
[10]Then he called the multitude unto him, and said to them, Hear and understand. |
| [11]οὐ τὸ εἰσερχόμενον εἰς τὸ στόμα κοινοῖ τὸν ἄνθρωπον, ἀλλὰ τὸ ἐκπορευόμενον ἐκ τοῦ στόματος τοῦτο κοινοῖ τὸν ἄνθρωπον. |
[11]That which goeth into the mouth, defileth not the man, but that which cometh out of the mouth, that defileth the man. |
| [12]τότε προσελθόντες οἱ μαθηταὶ λέγουσιν αὐτῶ, οἶδας ὅτι οἱ φαρισαῖοι ἀκούσαντες τὸν λόγον ἐσκανδαλίσθησαν; |
[12]Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Perceivest thou not, that the Pharisees are offended in hearing this saying? |
| [13]ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν, πᾶσα φυτεία ἣν οὐκ ἐφύτευσεν ὁ πατήρ μου ὁ οὐράνιος ἐκριζωθήσεται. |
[13]But he answered and said, Every plant which mine heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up. |
| [14]ἄφετε αὐτούς· τυφλοί εἰσιν ὁδηγοί [τυφλῶν]· τυφλὸς δὲ τυφλὸν ἐὰν ὁδηγῇ, ἀμφότεροι εἰς βόθυνον πεσοῦνται. |
[14]Let them alone, they be the blind leaders of the blind: and if the blind lead you blind, both shall fall into the ditch. |
| [15]ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ πέτρος εἶπεν αὐτῶ, φράσον ἡμῖν τὴν παραβολήν [ταύτην]. |
[15]Then answered Peter, and said to him, Declare unto us this parable. |
| [16]ὁ δὲ εἶπεν, ἀκμὴν καὶ ὑμεῖς ἀσύνετοί ἐστε; |
[16]Then said Jesus, Are ye yet without understanding? |
| [17]οὐ νοεῖτε ὅτι πᾶν τὸ εἰσπορευόμενον εἰς τὸ στόμα εἰς τὴν κοιλίαν χωρεῖ καὶ εἰς ἀφεδρῶνα ἐκβάλλεται; |
[17]Perceive ye not yet, that whatsoever entereth into the mouth, goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught? |
| [18]τὰ δὲ ἐκπορευόμενα ἐκ τοῦ στόματος ἐκ τῆς καρδίας ἐξέρχεται, κἀκεῖνα κοινοῖ τὸν ἄνθρωπον. |
[18]But those things which proceed out of the mouth, come from the heart, and they defile the man. |
| [19]ἐκ γὰρ τῆς καρδίας ἐξέρχονται διαλογισμοὶ πονηροί, φόνοι, μοιχεῖαι, πορνεῖαι, κλοπαί, ψευδομαρτυρίαι, βλασφημίαι. |
[19]For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false testimonies, slanders. |
| [20]ταῦτά ἐστιν τὰ κοινοῦντα τὸν ἄνθρωπον, τὸ δὲ ἀνίπτοις χερσὶν φαγεῖν οὐ κοινοῖ τὸν ἄνθρωπον. |
[20]These are the things, which defile the man: but to eat with unwashen hands, defileth not the man. |
| [21]καὶ ἐξελθὼν ἐκεῖθεν ὁ ἰησοῦς ἀνεχώρησεν εἰς τὰ μέρη τύρου καὶ σιδῶνος. |
[21]And Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon. |
| [22]καὶ ἰδοὺ γυνὴ χαναναία ἀπὸ τῶν ὁρίων ἐκείνων ἐξελθοῦσα ἔκραζεν λέγουσα, ἐλέησόν με, κύριε, υἱὸς δαυίδ· ἡ θυγάτηρ μου κακῶς δαιμονίζεται. |
[22]And behold, a woman a Canaanite came out of the same coasts, and cried, saying unto him, Have mercy on me, O Lord, the son of David: my daughter is miserably vexed with a devil. |
| [23]ὁ δὲ οὐκ ἀπεκρίθη αὐτῇ λόγον. καὶ προσελθόντες οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ἠρώτουν αὐτὸν λέγοντες, ἀπόλυσον αὐτήν, ὅτι κράζει ὄπισθεν ἡμῶν. |
[23]But he answered her not a word. Then came to him his disciples, and besought him, saying, Send her away, for she cryeth after us. |
| [24]ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν, οὐκ ἀπεστάλην εἰ μὴ εἰς τὰ πρόβατα τὰ ἀπολωλότα οἴκου ἰσραήλ. |
[24]But he answered, and said, I am not sent, but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. |
| [25]ἡ δὲ ἐλθοῦσα προσεκύνει αὐτῶ λέγουσα, κύριε, βοήθει μοι. |
[25]Yet she came and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. |
| [26]ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν, οὐκ ἔστιν καλὸν λαβεῖν τὸν ἄρτον τῶν τέκνων καὶ βαλεῖν τοῖς κυναρίοις. |
[26]And he answered, and said, It is not good to take the childrens bread, and to cast it to whelps. |
| [27]ἡ δὲ εἶπεν, ναί, κύριε, καὶ γὰρ τὰ κυνάρια ἐσθίει ἀπὸ τῶν ψιχίων τῶν πιπτόντων ἀπὸ τῆς τραπέζης τῶν κυρίων αὐτῶν. |
[27]But she said, Truth, Lord: yet indeed the whelps eat of the crumbs, which fall from their master's table. |
| [28]τότε ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτῇ, ὦ γύναι, μεγάλη σου ἡ πίστις· γενηθήτω σοι ὡς θέλεις. καὶ ἰάθη ἡ θυγάτηρ αὐτῆς ἀπὸ τῆς ὥρας ἐκείνης. |
[28]Then Jesus answered, and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it to thee, as thou desirest. And her daughter was made whole at that hour. |
| [29]καὶ μεταβὰς ἐκεῖθεν ὁ ἰησοῦς ἦλθεν παρὰ τὴν θάλασσαν τῆς γαλιλαίας, καὶ ἀναβὰς εἰς τὸ ὄρος ἐκάθητο ἐκεῖ. |
[29]So Jesus went away from thence, and came near unto the sea of Galilee, and went up into a mountain and sat down there. |
| [30]καὶ προσῆλθον αὐτῶ ὄχλοι πολλοὶ ἔχοντες μεθ᾽ ἑαυτῶν χωλούς, τυφλούς, κυλλούς, κωφούς, καὶ ἑτέρους πολλούς, καὶ ἔρριψαν αὐτοὺς παρὰ τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐθεράπευσεν αὐτούς· |
[30]And great multitudes came unto him, having with them, halt, blind, dumb, maimed and many other, and cast them down at Jesus feet, and he healed them. |
| [31]ὥστε τὸν ὄχλον θαυμάσαι βλέποντας κωφοὺς λαλοῦντας, κυλλοὺς ὑγιεῖς, καὶ χωλοὺς περιπατοῦντας καὶ τυφλοὺς βλέποντας· καὶ ἐδόξασαν τὸν θεὸν ἰσραήλ. |
[31]In so much that the multitude wondered, to see the dumb speak, the maimed whole, the halt to go, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel. |
| [32]ὁ δὲ ἰησοῦς προσκαλεσάμενος τοὺς μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ εἶπεν, σπλαγχνίζομαι ἐπὶ τὸν ὄχλον, ὅτι ἤδη ἡμέραι τρεῖς προσμένουσίν μοι καὶ οὐκ ἔχουσιν τί φάγωσιν· καὶ ἀπολῦσαι αὐτοὺς νήστεις οὐ θέλω, μήποτε ἐκλυθῶσιν ἐν τῇ ὁδῶ. |
[32]Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on this multitude, because they have continued with me already three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not let them depart fasting, lest they faint in the way. |
| [33]καὶ λέγουσιν αὐτῶ οἱ μαθηταί, πόθεν ἡμῖν ἐν ἐρημίᾳ ἄρτοι τοσοῦτοι ὥστε χορτάσαι ὄχλον τοσοῦτον; |
[33]And his disciples said unto him, Whence should we get so much bread in the wilderness, as should suffice so great a multitude! |
| [34]καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς ὁ ἰησοῦς, πόσους ἄρτους ἔχετε; οἱ δὲ εἶπαν, ἑπτά, καὶ ὀλίγα ἰχθύδια. |
[34]And Jesus said unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes. |
| [35]καὶ παραγγείλας τῶ ὄχλῳ ἀναπεσεῖν ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν |
[35]Then he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground, |
| [36]ἔλαβεν τοὺς ἑπτὰ ἄρτους καὶ τοὺς ἰχθύας καὶ εὐχαριστήσας ἔκλασεν καὶ ἐδίδου τοῖς μαθηταῖς, οἱ δὲ μαθηταὶ τοῖς ὄχλοις. |
[36]And took the seven loaves, and the fishes, and gave thanks, and break them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. |
| [37]καὶ ἔφαγον πάντες καὶ ἐχορτάσθησαν, καὶ τὸ περισσεῦον τῶν κλασμάτων ἦραν, ἑπτὰ σπυρίδας πλήρεις. |
[37]And they did all eat, and were sufficed: and they took up of the fragments that remained, seven baskets full. |
| [38]οἱ δὲ ἐσθίοντες ἦσαν τετρακισχίλιοι ἄνδρες χωρὶς γυναικῶν καὶ παιδίων. |
[38]And they that had eaten, were four thousand men, beside women, and little children. |
| [39]καὶ ἀπολύσας τοὺς ὄχλους ἐνέβη εἰς τὸ πλοῖον, καὶ ἦλθεν εἰς τὰ ὅρια μαγαδάν. |
[39]Then Jesus sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the parts of Magdala. |
