| [1]ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ὥρᾳ προσῆλθον οἱ μαθηταὶ τῶ ἰησοῦ λέγοντες, τίς ἄρα μείζων ἐστὶν ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τῶν οὐρανῶν; |
[1]AT that very hour the disciples came up to Jesus and said, Who is greatest in the kingdom of heaven? |
| [2]καὶ προσκαλεσάμενος παιδίον ἔστησεν αὐτὸ ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῶν |
[2]So Jesus called a little boy, and made him to stand up in the midst of them, |
| [3]καὶ εἶπεν, ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, ἐὰν μὴ στραφῆτε καὶ γένησθε ὡς τὰ παιδία, οὐ μὴ εἰσέλθητε εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν τῶν οὐρανῶν. |
[3]And he said, Truly I say to you, Unless you change and become like little boys, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. |
| [4]ὅστις οὗν ταπεινώσει ἑαυτὸν ὡς τὸ παιδίον τοῦτο, οὖτός ἐστιν ὁ μείζων ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τῶν οὐρανῶν. |
[4]Whoever therefore will humble himself like this little boy, shall be great in the kingdom of heaven. |
| [5]καὶ ὃς ἐὰν δέξηται ἓν παιδίον τοιοῦτο ἐπὶ τῶ ὀνόματί μου, ἐμὲ δέχεται. |
[5]And he who will welcome one like this little boy, in my name, welcomes me. |
| [6]ὃς δ᾽ ἂν σκανδαλίσῃ ἕνα τῶν μικρῶν τούτων τῶν πιστευόντων εἰς ἐμέ, συμφέρει αὐτῶ ἵνα κρεμασθῇ μύλος ὀνικὸς περὶ τὸν τράχηλον αὐτοῦ καὶ καταποντισθῇ ἐν τῶ πελάγει τῆς θαλάσσης. |
[6]And whoever misleads one of these little ones who believe in me, it would be better for him that an ass' millstone were hanged on his neck and he were sunk in the depths of the sea. |
| [7]οὐαὶ τῶ κόσμῳ ἀπὸ τῶν σκανδάλων· ἀνάγκη γὰρ ἐλθεῖν τὰ σκάνδαλα, πλὴν οὐαὶ τῶ ἀνθρώπῳ δι᾽ οὖ τὸ σκάνδαλον ἔρχεται. |
[7]Woe to the world because of offences! Offences are bound to come; but woe to the man by whose hand the offences come! |
| [8]εἰ δὲ ἡ χείρ σου ἢ ὁ πούς σου σκανδαλίζει σε, ἔκκοψον αὐτὸν καὶ βάλε ἀπὸ σοῦ· καλόν σοί ἐστιν εἰσελθεῖν εἰς τὴν ζωὴν κυλλὸν ἢ χωλόν, ἢ δύο χεῖρας ἢ δύο πόδας ἔχοντα βληθῆναι εἰς τὸ πῦρ τὸ αἰώνιον. |
[8]If your hand or your foot offends you, cut it off and throw it away from you; for it is much better for you to go through life lamed or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, and fall into the everlasting fire. |
| [9]καὶ εἰ ὁ ὀφθαλμός σου σκανδαλίζει σε, ἔξελε αὐτὸν καὶ βάλε ἀπὸ σοῦ· καλόν σοί ἐστιν μονόφθαλμον εἰς τὴν ζωὴν εἰσελθεῖν, ἢ δύο ὀφθαλμοὺς ἔχοντα βληθῆναι εἰς τὴν γέενναν τοῦ πυρός. |
[9]And if your eye offends you, remove it and throw it away from you; it is better for you to go through life with one eye, rather than having two eyes and fall into the gehenna of fire. |
| [10]ὁρᾶτε μὴ καταφρονήσητε ἑνὸς τῶν μικρῶν τούτων· λέγω γὰρ ὑμῖν ὅτι οἱ ἄγγελοι αὐτῶν ἐν οὐρανοῖς διὰ παντὸς βλέπουσι τὸ πρόσωπον τοῦ πατρός μου τοῦ ἐν οὐρανοῖς. |
[10]See to it that you do not despise one of these little ones; for I say to you, their angels always see the face of my Father in heaven. |
| [11]For the Son of man has come to save what was lost. |
| [12]τί ὑμῖν δοκεῖ; ἐὰν γένηταί τινι ἀνθρώπῳ ἑκατὸν πρόβατα καὶ πλανηθῇ ἓν ἐξ αὐτῶν, οὐχὶ ἀφήσει τὰ ἐνενήκοντα ἐννέα ἐπὶ τὰ ὄρη καὶ πορευθεὶς ζητεῖ τὸ πλανώμενον; |
[12]What do you think? If a man should have a hundred sheep, and one of them is lost, would he not leave the ninety and nine on the mountain, and go in search of the one which is lost? |
| [13]καὶ ἐὰν γένηται εὑρεῖν αὐτό, ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι χαίρει ἐπ᾽ αὐτῶ μᾶλλον ἢ ἐπὶ τοῖς ἐνενήκοντα ἐννέα τοῖς μὴ πεπλανημένοις. |
[13]And if he should find it, truly I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety and nine which were not lost. |
| [14]οὕτως οὐκ ἔστιν θέλημα ἔμπροσθεν τοῦ πατρὸς ὑμῶν τοῦ ἐν οὐρανοῖς ἵνα ἀπόληται ἓν τῶν μικρῶν τούτων. |
[14]Even so, your Father in heaven does not want one of these little ones to be lost. |
| [15]ἐὰν δὲ ἁμαρτήσῃ [εἰς σὲ] ὁ ἀδελφός σου, ὕπαγε ἔλεγξον αὐτὸν μεταξὺ σοῦ καὶ αὐτοῦ μόνου. ἐάν σου ἀκούσῃ, ἐκέρδησας τὸν ἀδελφόν σου· |
[15]Now then, if your brother is at fault with you, go and rebuke him alone; if he listens to you, then you have won your brother. |
| [16]ἐὰν δὲ μὴ ἀκούσῃ, παράλαβε μετὰ σοῦ ἔτι ἕνα ἢ δύο, ἵνα ἐπὶ στόματος δύο μαρτύρων ἢ τριῶν σταθῇ πᾶν ῥῆμα· |
[16]But if he will not listen to you, take one or two with you, because at the mouth of two or three witnesses every word is sustained. |
| [17]ἐὰν δὲ παρακούσῃ αὐτῶν, εἰπὲ τῇ ἐκκλησίᾳ· ἐὰν δὲ καὶ τῆς ἐκκλησίας παρακούσῃ, ἔστω σοι ὥσπερ ὁ ἐθνικὸς καὶ ὁ τελώνης. |
[17]And if he will not listen to them, tell the congregation; and if he will not listen to the congregation, then regard him as a publican and a heathen. |
| [18]ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, ὅσα ἐὰν δήσητε ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἔσται δεδεμένα ἐν οὐρανῶ καὶ ὅσα ἐὰν λύσητε ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἔσται λελυμένα ἐν οὐρανῶ. |
[18]Truly I say to you, Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you release on earth will be released in heaven. |
| [19]πάλιν [ἀμὴν] λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ἐὰν δύο συμφωνήσωσιν ἐξ ὑμῶν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς περὶ παντὸς πράγματος οὖ ἐὰν αἰτήσωνται, γενήσεται αὐτοῖς παρὰ τοῦ πατρός μου τοῦ ἐν οὐρανοῖς. |
[19]Again I say to you, that if two of you are worthy on earth, anything that they would ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. |
| [20]οὖ γάρ εἰσιν δύο ἢ τρεῖς συνηγμένοι εἰς τὸ ἐμὸν ὄνομα, ἐκεῖ εἰμι ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῶν. |
[20]For wherever two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them. |
| [21]τότε προσελθὼν ὁ πέτρος εἶπεν αὐτῶ, κύριε, ποσάκις ἁμαρτήσει εἰς ἐμὲ ὁ ἀδελφός μου καὶ ἀφήσω αὐτῶ; ἕως ἑπτάκις; |
[21]Then Peter came up and said to him, My Lord, if my brother is at fault with me, how many times should I forgive him? up to seven times? |
| [22]λέγει αὐτῶ ὁ ἰησοῦς, οὐ λέγω σοι ἕως ἑπτάκις ἀλλὰ ἕως ἑβδομηκοντάκις ἑπτά. |
[22]Jesus said to him, I do not say to you up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven. |
| [23]διὰ τοῦτο ὡμοιώθη ἡ βασιλεία τῶν οὐρανῶν ἀνθρώπῳ βασιλεῖ ὃς ἠθέλησεν συνᾶραι λόγον μετὰ τῶν δούλων αὐτοῦ. |
[23]Therefore the kingdom of heaven is likened to a king who wanted to take an accounting from his servants. |
| [24]ἀρξαμένου δὲ αὐτοῦ συναίρειν προσηνέχθη αὐτῶ εἷς ὀφειλέτης μυρίων ταλάντων. |
[24]And when he began to take the accounting, they brought to him one who owed ten thousand talents. |
| [25]μὴ ἔχοντος δὲ αὐτοῦ ἀποδοῦναι ἐκέλευσεν αὐτὸν ὁ κύριος πραθῆναι καὶ τὴν γυναῖκα καὶ τὰ τέκνα καὶ πάντα ὅσα ἔχει, καὶ ἀποδοθῆναι. |
[25]And as he could not pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, together with his wife and children, and all that he had, so that he could pay. |
| [26]πεσὼν οὗν ὁ δοῦλος προσεκύνει αὐτῶ λέγων, μακροθύμησον ἐπ᾽ ἐμοί, καὶ πάντα ἀποδώσω σοι. |
[26]The servant then fell down, worshipped him, and said, My lord, have patience with me, and I will pay you everything. |
| [27]σπλαγχνισθεὶς δὲ ὁ κύριος τοῦ δούλου ἐκείνου ἀπέλυσεν αὐτόν, καὶ τὸ δάνειον ἀφῆκεν αὐτῶ. |
[27]Then the master of that servant had pity, so he released him, and cancelled his debt. |
| [28]ἐξελθὼν δὲ ὁ δοῦλος ἐκεῖνος εὖρεν ἕνα τῶν συνδούλων αὐτοῦ ὃς ὤφειλεν αὐτῶ ἑκατὸν δηνάρια, καὶ κρατήσας αὐτὸν ἔπνιγεν λέγων, ἀπόδος εἴ τι ὀφείλεις. |
[28]But that servant went out, and found one of his fellow-servants, who owed him one hundred cents; and he seized him, and tried to choke him, saying to him, Give me what you owe me. |
| [29]πεσὼν οὗν ὁ σύνδουλος αὐτοῦ παρεκάλει αὐτὸν λέγων, μακροθύμησον ἐπ᾽ ἐμοί, καὶ ἀποδώσω σοι. |
[29]So his fellow-servant fell down at his feet, and begged him and said, Have patience with me, and I will pay you. |
| [30]ὁ δὲ οὐκ ἤθελεν, ἀλλὰ ἀπελθὼν ἔβαλεν αὐτὸν εἰς φυλακὴν ἕως ἀποδῶ τὸ ὀφειλόμενον. |
[30]But he was not willing; and he went and had him put into prison, until he should pay him what he owed him. |
| [31]ἰδόντες οὗν οἱ σύνδουλοι αὐτοῦ τὰ γενόμενα ἐλυπήθησαν σφόδρα, καὶ ἐλθόντες διεσάφησαν τῶ κυρίῳ ἑαυτῶν πάντα τὰ γενόμενα. |
[31]When their fellow-servants saw what had happened, they were very sorry, and they came and informed their master of everything that had happened. |
| [32]τότε προσκαλεσάμενος αὐτὸν ὁ κύριος αὐτοῦ λέγει αὐτῶ, δοῦλε πονηρέ, πᾶσαν τὴν ὀφειλὴν ἐκείνην ἀφῆκά σοι, ἐπεὶ παρεκάλεσάς με· |
[32]Then his master called him and said to him, O wicked servant, I cancelled all your debt because you begged me. |
| [33]οὐκ ἔδει καὶ σὲ ἐλεῆσαι τὸν σύνδουλόν σου, ὡς κἀγὼ σὲ ἠλέησα; |
[33]Was it not right for you to have mercy on your fellow-servant, just as I had mercy on you? |
| [34]καὶ ὀργισθεὶς ὁ κύριος αὐτοῦ παρέδωκεν αὐτὸν τοῖς βασανισταῖς ἕως οὖ ἀποδῶ πᾶν τὸ ὀφειλόμενον. |
[34]So his master was angry, and delivered him to the scourgers, until he should pay everything he owed him. |
| [35]οὕτως καὶ ὁ πατήρ μου ὁ οὐράνιος ποιήσει ὑμῖν ἐὰν μὴ ἀφῆτε ἕκαστος τῶ ἀδελφῶ αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ τῶν καρδιῶν ὑμῶν. |
[35]So will my Father in heaven do to you, if you do not forgive each man his brother's fault from your heart. |
