[1]And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished those sayings, he departed from Galilee, and came into the coasts of Judea beyond Jordan. [1]καὶ ἐγένετο ὅτε ἐτέλεσεν ὁ ἰησοῦς τοὺς λόγους τούτους, μετῆρεν ἀπὸ τῆς γαλιλαίας καὶ ἦλθεν εἰς τὰ ὅρια τῆς ἰουδαίας πέραν τοῦ ἰορδάνου.
[2]And great multitudes followed him, and he healed them there. [2]καὶ ἠκολούθησαν αὐτῶ ὄχλοι πολλοί, καὶ ἐθεράπευσεν αὐτοὺς ἐκεῖ.
[3]Then came unto him the Pharisees tempting him, and saying to him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every fault? [3]καὶ προσῆλθον αὐτῶ φαρισαῖοι πειράζοντες αὐτὸν καὶ λέγοντες, εἰ ἔξεστιν ἀνθρώπῳ ἀπολῦσαι τὴν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ κατὰ πᾶσαν αἰτίαν;
[4]And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning, made them male and female, [4]ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν, οὐκ ἀνέγνωτε ὅτι ὁ κτίσας ἀπ᾽ ἀρχῆς ἄρσεν καὶ θῆλυ ἐποίησεν αὐτούς;
[5]And said, For this cause, shall a man leave father and mother, and cleave unto his wife, and they twain shall be one flesh. [5]καὶ εἶπεν, ἕνεκα τούτου καταλείψει ἄνθρωπος τὸν πατέρα καὶ τὴν μητέρα καὶ κολληθήσεται τῇ γυναικὶ αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἔσονται οἱ δύο εἰς σάρκα μίαν.
[6]Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. Let not man therefore put asunder that, which God hath coupled together. [6]ὥστε οὐκέτι εἰσὶν δύο ἀλλὰ σὰρξ μία. ὃ οὗν ὁ θεὸς συνέζευξεν ἄνθρωπος μὴ χωριζέτω.
[7]They said to him, Why did then Moses command to give a bill of divorcement, and to put her away? [7]λέγουσιν αὐτῶ, τί οὗν μωϊσῆς ἐνετείλατο δοῦναι βιβλίον ἀποστασίου καὶ ἀπολῦσαι [αὐτήν];
[8]He said unto them, Moses, because of the hardness of your heart, suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so. [8]λέγει αὐτοῖς ὅτι μωϊσῆς πρὸς τὴν σκληροκαρδίαν ὑμῶν ἐπέτρεψεν ὑμῖν ἀπολῦσαι τὰς γυναῖκας ὑμῶν, ἀπ᾽ ἀρχῆς δὲ οὐ γέγονεν οὕτως.
[9]I say therefore unto you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for whoredom, and marry another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her which is divorced, doth commit adultery. [9]λέγω δὲ ὑμῖν ὅτι ὃς ἂν ἀπολύσῃ τὴν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ μὴ ἐπὶ πορνείᾳ καὶ γαμήσῃ ἄλλην μοιχᾶται.
[10]Then said his disciples to him, If the matter be so between man and wife, it is not good to marry. [10]λέγουσιν αὐτῶ οἱ μαθηταὶ [αὐτοῦ], εἰ οὕτως ἐστὶν ἡ αἰτία τοῦ ἀνθρώπου μετὰ τῆς γυναικός, οὐ συμφέρει γαμῆσαι.
[11]But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this thing, save they to whom it is given. [11]ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, οὐ πάντες χωροῦσιν τὸν λόγον [τοῦτον], ἀλλ᾽ οἷς δέδοται.
[12]For there are some chaste, which were so born of their mothers belly: and there be some chaste, which be made chaste by men: and there be some chaste, which have made themselves chaste for the kingdom of heaven. He that is able to receive this, let him receive it. [12]εἰσὶν γὰρ εὐνοῦχοι οἵτινες ἐκ κοιλίας μητρὸς ἐγεννήθησαν οὕτως, καὶ εἰσὶν εὐνοῦχοι οἵτινες εὐνουχίσθησαν ὑπὸ τῶν ἀνθρώπων, καὶ εἰσὶν εὐνοῦχοι οἵτινες εὐνούχισαν ἑαυτοὺς διὰ τὴν βασιλείαν τῶν οὐρανῶν. ὁ δυνάμενος χωρεῖν χωρείτω.
[13]Then were brought to him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them. [13]τότε προσηνέχθησαν αὐτῶ παιδία, ἵνα τὰς χεῖρας ἐπιθῇ αὐτοῖς καὶ προσεύξηται· οἱ δὲ μαθηταὶ ἐπετίμησαν αὐτοῖς.
[14]But Jesus said, Suffer the little children, and forbid them not to come to me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven. [14]ὁ δὲ ἰησοῦς εἶπεν, ἄφετε τὰ παιδία καὶ μὴ κωλύετε αὐτὰ ἐλθεῖν πρός με, τῶν γὰρ τοιούτων ἐστὶν ἡ βασιλεία τῶν οὐρανῶν.
[15]And when he had put his hands on them, he departed thence. [15]καὶ ἐπιθεὶς τὰς χεῖρας αὐτοῖς ἐπορεύθη ἐκεῖθεν.
[16]And behold one came, and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? [16]καὶ ἰδοὺ εἷς προσελθὼν αὐτῶ εἶπεν, διδάσκαλε, τί ἀγαθὸν ποιήσω ἵνα σχῶ ζωὴν αἰώνιον;
[17]And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, even God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. [17]ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτῶ, τί με ἐρωτᾷς περὶ τοῦ ἀγαθοῦ; εἷς ἐστιν ὁ ἀγαθός. εἰ δὲ θέλεις εἰς τὴν ζωὴν εἰσελθεῖν, τήρησον τὰς ἐντολάς.
[18]He said to him, Which? And Jesus said, These, Thou shalt not kill: Thou shalt not commit adultery: Thou shalt not steal: Thou shalt not bear false witness. [18]λέγει αὐτῶ, ποίας; ὁ δὲ ἰησοῦς εἶπεν, τὸ οὐ φονεύσεις, οὐ μοιχεύσεις, οὐ κλέψεις, οὐ ψευδομαρτυρήσεις,
[19]Honor thy father and mother: and thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. [19]τίμα τὸν πατέρα καὶ τὴν μητέρα, καί, ἀγαπήσεις τὸν πλησίον σου ὡς σεαυτόν.
[20]The young man said unto him, I have observed all these things from my youth: what lack I yet? [20]λέγει αὐτῶ ὁ νεανίσκος, πάντα ταῦτα ἐφύλαξα· τί ἔτι ὑστερῶ;
[21]Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go, sell that thou hast, and give it to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven, and come and follow me. [21]ἔφη αὐτῶ ὁ ἰησοῦς, εἰ θέλεις τέλειος εἶναι, ὕπαγε πώλησόν σου τὰ ὑπάρχοντα καὶ δὸς [τοῖς] πτωχοῖς, καὶ ἕξεις θησαυρὸν ἐν οὐρανοῖς, καὶ δεῦρο ἀκολούθει μοι.
[22]And when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions. [22]ἀκούσας δὲ ὁ νεανίσκος τὸν λόγον ἀπῆλθεν λυπούμενος, ἦν γὰρ ἔχων κτήματα πολλά.
[23]Then Jesus said unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, that a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. [23]ὁ δὲ ἰησοῦς εἶπεν τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ, ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι πλούσιος δυσκόλως εἰσελεύσεται εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν τῶν οὐρανῶν.
[24]And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. [24]πάλιν δὲ λέγω ὑμῖν, εὐκοπώτερόν ἐστιν κάμηλον διὰ τρυπήματος ῥαφίδος διελθεῖν ἢ πλούσιον εἰσελθεῖν εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ θεοῦ.
[25]And when his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved? [25]ἀκούσαντες δὲ οἱ μαθηταὶ ἐξεπλήσσοντο σφόδρα λέγοντες, τίς ἄρα δύναται σωθῆναι;
[26]And Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible. [26]ἐμβλέψας δὲ ὁ ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, παρὰ ἀνθρώποις τοῦτο ἀδύνατόν ἐστιν, παρὰ δὲ θεῶ πάντα δυνατά.
[27]Then answered Peter, and said to him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee: what shall we have? [27]τότε ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ πέτρος εἶπεν αὐτῶ, ἰδοὺ ἡμεῖς ἀφήκαμεν πάντα καὶ ἠκολουθήσαμέν σοι· τί ἄρα ἔσται ἡμῖν;
[28]And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say to you, that when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his majesty, ye which followed me in the regeneration, shall sit also upon twelve thrones, and judge the twelve tribes of Israel. [28]ὁ δὲ ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ὑμεῖς οἱ ἀκολουθήσαντές μοι, ἐν τῇ παλιγγενεσίᾳ, ὅταν καθίσῃ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐπὶ θρόνου δόξης αὐτοῦ, καθήσεσθε καὶ ὑμεῖς ἐπὶ δώδεκα θρόνους κρίνοντες τὰς δώδεκα φυλὰς τοῦ ἰσραήλ.
[29]And whosoever shall forsake houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my Names sake, he shall receive an hundred fold more, and shall inherit everlasting life. [29]καὶ πᾶς ὅστις ἀφῆκεν οἰκίας ἢ ἀδελφοὺς ἢ ἀδελφὰς ἢ πατέρα ἢ μητέρα ἢ τέκνα ἢ ἀγροὺς ἕνεκεν τοῦ ὀνόματός μου ἑκατονταπλασίονα λήμψεται καὶ ζωὴν αἰώνιον κληρονομήσει.
[30]But many that are first, shall be last, and the last shall be first. [30]πολλοὶ δὲ ἔσονται πρῶτοι ἔσχατοι καὶ ἔσχατοι πρῶτοι.
