[[To him that excelleth upon the eight tune .] A Psalm Chapter of David.]
[1]To the chief MusicianH5329[H8764] upon SheminithH8067, A PsalmH4210 of DavidH1732. HelpH3467[H8685], LORDH3068; for the godly manH2623 ceasethH1584[H8804]; for the faithfulH539[H8803] failH6461[H8804] from among the childrenH1121 of menH120. [1]Help Lord, for there is not a godly man left: for the faithful are failed from among the children of men.
[2]They speakH1696[H8762] vanityH7723 every oneH376 with his neighbourH7453: with flatteringH2513 lipsH8193 and with a doubleH3820 heartH3820 do they speakH1696.[H8762] [2]They speak deceitfully every one with his neighbor, flattering with their lips, and speak with a double heart.
[3]The LORDH3068 shall cut offH3772[H8686] all flatteringH2513 lipsH8193, and the tongueH3956 that speakethH1696[H8764] proud thingsH1419: [3]The Lord cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things:
[4]Who have saidH559[H8804], With our tongueH3956 will we prevailH1396[H8686]; our lipsH8193 are our own: who is lord over usH113? [4]Which have said, With our tongue will we prevail: our lips are our own: who is Lord over us?
[5]For the oppressionH7701 of the poorH6041, for the sighingH603 of the needyH34, now will I ariseH6965[H8799], saithH559[H8799] the LORDH3068; I will setH7896[H8799] him in safetyH3468 from him that puffethH6315 at himH8686. [5]Now for the oppression of the needy, and for the sighs of the poor, I will up, saith the Lord, and will set at liberty him, whom the wicked hath snared.
[6]The wordsH565 of the LORDH3068 are pureH2889 wordsH565: as silverH3701 triedH6884[H8803] in a furnaceH5948 of earthH776, purifiedH2212[H8794] seven timesH7659. [6]The words of the Lord are pure words, as the silver, tried in a furnace of earth, fined seven fold.
[7]Thou shalt keepH8104[H8799] them, O LORDH3068, thou shalt preserveH5341[H8799] them from thisH2098 generationH1755 for everH5769. [7]Thou wilt keep them, O Lord: thou wilt preserve him from this generation forever.
[8]The wickedH7563 walkH1980[H8691] on every sideH5439, when the vilestH2149 menH1121[H120] are exaltedH7311.[H8800] [8]The wicked walk on every side: when they are exalted, it is a shame for the sons of men.
