[[A song of degrees.]]
[1]A SongH7892 of degreesH4609. Unto thee lift I upH5375[H8804] mine eyesH5869, O thou that dwellestH3427[H8802] in the heavensH8064. [1]I lift up mine eyes to thee, that dwellest in the heavens.
[2]Behold, as the eyesH5869 of servantsH5650 look unto the handH3027 of their mastersH113, and as the eyesH5869 of a maidenH8198 unto the handH3027 of her mistressH1404; so our eyesH5869 wait upon the LORDH3068 our GodH430, until that he have mercyH2603 upon usH8799. [2]Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress: so our eyes wait upon the Lord our God until he have mercy upon us.
[3]Have mercyH2603[H8798] upon us, O LORDH3068, have mercyH2603[H8798] upon us: for we are exceedinglyH7227 filledH7646[H8804] with contemptH937. [3]Have mercy upon us, O Lord, have mercy upon us: for we have suffered too much contempt.
[4]Our soulH5315 is exceedinglyH7227 filledH7646[H8804] with the scorningH3933 of those that are at easeH7600, and with the contemptH937 of the proudH3238[H8802][H8678][H1343][H8675].[H1349] [4]Our soul is filled too full of the mocking of the wealthy, and of the despitefulness of the proud.
