[1]PutG5279 themG846 in mindG5279[G5720] to be subjectG5293[G5733] to principalitiesG746 andG2532 powersG1849, to obey magistratesG3980[G5721], to beG1511[G5750] readyG2092 toG4314 everyG3956 goodG18 workG2041, [1]Put them in remembrance that they be subject to the Principalities and powers, and that they be obedient, and ready to every good work,
[2]To speak evil ofG987[G5721] no manG3367, to beG1511[G5750] no brawlersG269, but gentleG1933, shewingG1731[G5734] allG3956 meeknessG4236 untoG4314 allG3956 menG444. [2]That they speak evil of no man, that they be no fighters, but soft, showing all meekness unto all men.
[3]ForG1063 we ourselvesG2249 alsoG2532 wereG2258[G5713][G453] sometimesG4218 foolishG453, disobedientG545, deceivedG4105[G5746], servingG1398[G5723] diversG4164 lustsG1939 andG2532 pleasuresG2237, livingG1236[G5723] inG1722 maliceG2549 andG2532 envyG5355, hatefulG4767, and hatingG3404[G5723] one anotherG240. [3]For we ourselves also were in times past unwise, disobedient, deceived, serving the lusts and diverse pleasures, living in maliciousness and envy, hateful, and hating one another.
[4]ButG1161 afterG3753 that the kindnessG5544 andG2532 loveG5363 of GodG2316 ourG2257 SaviourG4990 toward manG5363 G2014appearedG5648 [4]But when that bountifulness and love of God our Savior toward man appeared,
[5]NotG3756 byG1537 worksG2041 ofG1722 righteousnessG1343 whichG3739 weG2249 have doneG4160[G5656], butG235 according toG2596 hisG846 mercyG1656 he savedG4982[G5656] usG2248, byG1223 the washingG3067 of regenerationG3824, andG2532 renewingG342 of the HolyG40 GhostG4151; [5]Not by the works of righteousness, which we had done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of the new birth, and the renewing of the Holy Ghost,
[6]WhichG3739 he shedG1632[G5656] onG1909 usG2248 abundantlyG4146 throughG1223 JesusG2424 ChristG5547 ourG2257 SaviourG4990; [6]Which he shed on us abundantly, through Jesus Christ our Savior,
[7]ThatG2443 being justified byG1344[G5685] hisG1565 graceG5485, we should be madeG1096[G5638] heirsG2818 according toG2596 the hopeG1680 of eternalG166 lifeG2222. [7]That we, being justified by his grace, should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
[8]This is a faithfulG4103 sayingG3056, andG2532 these thingsG4012[G5130] I willG1014[G5736] that thouG4571 affirm constantlyG1226[G5738], thatG2443 they which have believedG4100[G5761] in GodG2316 might be carefulG5431[G5725] to maintainG4291[G5733] goodG2570 worksG2041. These thingsG5023 areG2076[G5748] goodG2570 andG2532 profitableG5624 unto menG444. [8]This is a true saying, and these things I will thou shouldest affirm, that they which have believed in God, might be careful to show forth good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.
[9]ButG1161 avoidG4026[G5732] foolishG3474 questionsG2214, andG2532 genealogiesG1076, andG2532 contentionsG2054, andG2532 strivings aboutG3163 the lawG3544; forG1063 they areG1526[G5748] unprofitableG512 andG2532 vainG3152. [9]But stay foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and brawlings about the Law: for they are unprofitable and vain.
[10]A manG444 that is an heretickG141 afterG3326 the firstG3391 andG2532 secondG1208 admonitionG3559 G3868rejectG5737 [10]Reject him that is an heretic, after once or twice admonition,
[11]KnowingG1492[G5761] thatG3754 he that is suchG5108 is subvertedG1612[G5769], andG2532 sinnethG264[G5719], beingG5607[G5752] condemned of himselfG843. [11]Knowing that he that is such, is perverted, and sinneth being damned of his own self.
[12]WhenG3752 I shall sendG3992[G5692] ArtemasG734 untoG4314 theeG4571, orG2228 TychicusG5190, be diligentG4704[G5657] to comeG2064[G5629] untoG4314 meG3165 toG1519 NicopolisG3533: forG1063 I have determinedG2919[G5758] thereG1563 to winterG3914.[G5658] [12]When I shall send Artemas unto thee, or Tychicus, be diligent to come to me unto Nicopolis: for I have determined there to winter.
[13]BringG4311 ZenasG2211 the lawyerG3544 andG2532 ApollosG625 on their journeyG4311[G5657] diligentlyG4709, thatG2443 nothingG3367 be wantingG3007[G5725] unto themG846. [13]Bring Zenas the expounder of the Law, and Apollos on their journey diligently, that they lack nothing.
[14]AndG1161 letG3129 oursG2251 alsoG2532 learnG3129[G5720] to maintainG4291[G5733] goodG2570 worksG2041 forG1519 necessaryG316 usesG5532, thatG3363 they beG5600[G5753] notG3363 unfruitfulG175. [14]And let ours also learn to show forth good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful.
[15]AllG3956 that are withG3326 meG1700 saluteG782[G5736] theeG4571. GreetG782[G5663] them that loveG5368[G5723] usG2248 inG1722 the faithG4102. GraceG5485 be withG3326 youG5216 allG3956. AmenG281. It was writtenG1125[G5648] toG4314 TitusG5103, ordainedG5500[G5685] the firstG4413 bishopG1985 of the churchG1577 of the CretiansG2912, fromG575 NicopolisG3533 of MacedoniaG3109. [15]All that are with me, salute thee. Greet them that love us in the faith. Grace be with you all, Amen. To Titus, elect the first bishop of the Church of the Cretians, written from Nicopolis in Macedonia.
