[1]About sacrifices but of idols we know that in us all is knowledge and knowledge puffs up love but builds up |
[1]And concerning sacrifices to idols, we know, that in all of us there is knowledge; and knowledge inflateth, but love edifieth. |
[2]If a man but thinks that he knows anything not yet anything he knows as what it is necessary for him to know |
[2]And if any one thinketh that he knoweth any thing he knoweth nothing yet, as he ought to know [it]. |
[3]If a man but loves to Alaha this one is known of Him |
[3]But if any one loveth God, that man is known of him. |
[4]About food therefore of sacrifices of idols we know that not has been anything the idol in the universe and that there is not god another but only One |
[4]As to the eating of the sacrifices of idols, therefore, we know that an idol is nothing in the world; and that there is no other God, but one. |
[5]Even though for there are what are called gods whether in the sky or in earth as there are gods many and lords many |
[5]For although there are what are called gods, whether in heaven, or on earth, (as there are gods many, and lords many,) |
[6]But to us ours One is Alaha The Father for all is from Him and we are in him and One the Lord Ieshu The Messiah for all is by Him and also we are in His hand |
[6]yet to us, on our part, there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord, Jesus the Messiah, by whom are all things, and we also by him. |
[7]But not has been in every person the knowledge there are some for people in whose conscience until now that unto idols as what is sacrificed they eat and because is weak their conscience it is defiled |
[7]But there is not [this] knowledge in every man; for there are some, who, to the present time, in their conscience, eat [it] as an offering to idols; and because their conscience is weak, it is defiled. |
[8]Food but not brings us to Alaha nothing for if we eat we gain and nothing if not we shall eat we lose |
[8]But food doth not bring us near to God; for if we eat, we do not abound; and if we eat not, we are not in want. |
[9]Take heed but lest your power this shall be a stumbling block to the weak |
[9]See to it, however, lest this your authority become a stumbling-block to the weak. |
[10]If a man for will see you you who have in you knowledge that recline you in the house of idols not? behold his conscience because weak it is will be encouraged to eat what is sacrificed |
[10]For if one should see thee in whom there is knowledge, reclining in the temple of idols, will not his conscience, seeing he is a weak person, be encouraged to eat what is sacrificed? |
[11]And is destroyed he by your knowledge yours he who is weak for whose sake died The Messiah |
[11]And by thy knowledge, he who is feeble, and on account of whom the Messiah died, will perish. |
[12]And if in this way subvert you your brethren and tread you on their conscience of the sickly against The Messiah it is commit an offense you |
[12]And if ye thus sin against your brethren, and wound the consciences of the feeble, ye sin against the Messiah. |
[13]Because of this if food brings down my brother for eternity flesh not I shall eat lest I bring sin to my brother |
[13]Wherefore, if food is a stumbling-block to my brother, I will for ever eat no flesh, lest I should be a stumbling-block to my brother. |
