[1]At that time Abia the sonne of Ieroboam fel sicke [1]At that timeH6256 AbijahH29 the sonH1121 of JeroboamH3379 fell sickH2470.[H8804]
[2]And Ieroboam saide vnto his wyfe: Up I pray thee, and disguise thy selfe, that thou be not knowen to be the wyfe of Ieroboam: and get thee to Silo, for there is Ahia the prophet which tolde me that I should be king ouer this people [2]And JeroboamH3379 saidH559[H8799] to his wifeH802, AriseH6965[H8798], I pray thee, and disguiseH8138[H8690] thyself, that thou be not knownH3045[H8799] to be the wifeH802 of JeroboamH3379; and getH1980[H8804] thee to ShilohH7887: behold, there is AhijahH281 the prophetH5030, which toldH1696[H8765] me that I should be kingH4428 over this peopleH5971.
[3]And take with thee ten loaues, and cracknelles, and a cruse of hony, and go to him, that he may tell thee what shall become of the childe [3]And takeH3947[H8804] with theeH3027 tenH6235 loavesH3899, and cracknelsH5350, and a cruseH1228 of honeyH1706, and goH935[H8804] to him: he shall tellH5046[H8686] thee what shall become of the childH5288.
[4]And Ieroboams wyfe did so, and arose, and went to Silo, and came to the house of Ahia: But Ahia could not see, for his eyes were waxen dimme for age [4]And Jeroboam'sH3379 wifeH802 did soH6213[H8799], and aroseH6965[H8799], and wentH3212[H8799] to ShilohH7887, and cameH935[H8799] to the houseH1004 of AhijahH281. But AhijahH281 couldH3201[H8804] not seeH7200[H8800]; for his eyesH5869 were setH6965[H8804] by reason of his ageH7869.
[5]And the Lorde saide vnto Ahia: Beholde, the wyfe of Ieroboam commeth to aske a thing of thee for her sonne, for he is sicke: But thus & thus shalt thou saye vnto her. And whe she came in, she fayned her selfe to be an other woman [5]And the LORDH3068 saidH559[H8804] unto AhijahH281, Behold, the wifeH802 of JeroboamH3379 comethH935[H8802] to askH1875[H8800] a thingH1697 of thee for her sonH1121; for he is sickH2470[H8802]: thusH2090 and thus shalt thou sayH1696[H8762] unto her: for it shall be, when she cometh inH935[H8800], that she shall feign herself to be anotherH5234 womanH8693.
[6]But when Ahia heard the sounde of her feete as she came in at the doore, he sayd: Come in thou wyfe of Ieroboam, why faynest thou thy selfe so to be another? I am sent to thee [to shew thee] heauy thynges [6]And it was so, when AhijahH281 heardH8085[H8800] the soundH6963 of her feetH7272, as she came inH935[H8802] at the doorH6607, that he saidH559[H8799], Come inH935[H8798], thou wifeH802 of JeroboamH3379; why feignest thou thyself to be anotherH5234[H8693]? for I am sentH7971[H8803] to thee with heavy tidingsH7186.
[7]Go, tell Ieroboam, thus sayth the Lorde God of Israel: [It repenteth me] forasmuch as I exalted thee from among the people, and made thee prince ouer my people Israel [7]GoH3212[H8798], tellH559[H8798] JeroboamH3379, Thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068 GodH430 of IsraelH3478, Forasmuch asH3282 I exaltedH7311[H8689] thee from amongH8432 the peopleH5971, and madeH5414[H8799] thee princeH5057 over my peopleH5971 IsraelH3478,
[8]I did rent the kingdome away from the house of Dauid, & gaue it thee: Neuerthelesse, thou hast not ben as my seruaunt Dauid, which kept my commaundementes, and folowed me with all his heart, to do that onely which was right in myne eyes [8]And rentH7167 the kingdomH4467 awayH7167[H8799] from the houseH1004 of DavidH1732, and gaveH5414[H8799] it thee: and yet thou hast not been as my servantH5650 DavidH1732, who keptH8104[H8804] my commandmentsH4687, and who followedH1980[H8804][H310] me with all his heartH3824, to doH6213[H8800] that only which was rightH3477 in mine eyesH5869;
[9]But hast done euil aboue al that were before thee: For thou hast gone & made thee other gods, and moulten images, to prouoke me, and hast cast me behinde thy backe [9]But hast doneH6213[H8800] evilH7489[H8686] above all that were beforeH6440 thee: for thou hast goneH3212[H8799] and madeH6213[H8799] thee otherH312 godsH430, and molten imagesH4541, to provoke me to angerH3707[H8687], and hast castH7993[H8689] me behindH310 thy backH1458:
[10]Therefore beholde, I wyll bring euill vpon the house of Ieroboam, and wyll roote out from Ieroboam euen him that pysseth against the wall, and him that is in pryson and forsaken in Israel, and wyll take away the remnaunt of the house of Ieroboam, as a man taketh away doung tyll he hath caryed all [10]Therefore, behold, I will bringH935[H8688] evilH7451 upon the houseH1004 of JeroboamH3379, and will cut offH3772[H8689] from JeroboamH3379 him that pissethH8366[H8688] against the wallH7023, and him that is shut upH6113[H8803] and leftH5800[H8803] in IsraelH3478, and will take awayH1197[H8765] the remnantH310 of the houseH1004 of JeroboamH3379, as a man taketh awayH1197[H8762] dungH1557, till it be all goneH8552.[H8800]
[11]Whosoeuer of Ieroboams house die in the towne, him shall the dogges eate: and he that dyeth in the fielde, shall the foules of the ayre eate: for the Lorde hath saide it [11]Him that diethH4191[H8801] of JeroboamH3379 in the cityH5892 shall the dogsH3611 eatH398[H8799]; and him that diethH4191[H8801] in the fieldH7704 shall the fowlsH5775 of the airH8064 eatH398[H8799]: for the LORDH3068 hath spokenH1696 itH8765.
[12]Up therfore & get thee to thyne owne house: [Beholde,] when thy foote entreth into the citie, the childe shall dye [12]AriseH6965[H8798] thou therefore, getH3212[H8798] thee to thine own houseH1004: and when thy feetH7272 enterH935[H8800] into the cityH5892, the childH3206 shall dieH4191.[H8804]
[13]And all they of Israel shall mourne for him, and burie him: For he onely of Ieroboam shal come to the sepulchre, because in him there is found goodnesse toward the Lord God of Israel in the house of Ieroboam [13]And all IsraelH3478 shall mournH5594[H8804] for him, and buryH6912[H8804] him: for he only of JeroboamH3379 shall comeH935[H8799] to the graveH6913, because in him there is foundH4672[H8738] some goodH2896 thingH1697 toward the LORDH3068 GodH430 of IsraelH3478 in the houseH1004 of JeroboamH3379.
[14]Moreouer, the Lord shal stirre him vp a king ouer Israel which shall destroy the house of Ieroboam in that day: But what is it now [14]Moreover the LORDH3068 shall raise him upH6965[H8689] a kingH4428 over IsraelH3478, who shall cut offH3772[H8686] the houseH1004 of JeroboamH3379 that day: but what? even nowH3117.
[15]For the Lorde shall smyte Israel as when a reede is shaken in the water, & he shall weede Israel out of this good lande which he gaue to their fathers, & shall scatter them beyond the ryuer, because they haue made them groues, and angred the Lorde [15]For the LORDH3068 shall smiteH5221[H8689] IsraelH3478, as a reedH7070 is shakenH5110[H8799] in the waterH4325, and he shall root upH5428[H8804] IsraelH3478 out of this goodH2896 landH127, which he gaveH5414[H8804] to their fathersH1, and shall scatterH2219[H8765] them beyondH5676 the riverH5104, because they have madeH6213[H8804] their grovesH842, provoking the LORDH3068 to angerH3707.[H8688]
[16]And he shall geue Israel vp because of the sinnes of Ieroboam, which did sinne, and made Israel to sinne [16]And he shall giveH5414 IsraelH3478 upH5414[H8799] becauseH1558 of the sinsH2403 of JeroboamH3379, who did sinH2398[H8804], and who made IsraelH3478 to sinH2398.[H8689]
[17]And Ieroboams wyfe arose, and departed, and came to Thirzah: & when she came to the thressholde of the doore, the childe was dead [17]And Jeroboam'sH3379 wifeH802 aroseH6965[H8799], and departedH3212[H8799], and cameH935[H8799] to TirzahH8656: and when she cameH935[H8802] to the thresholdH5592 of the doorH1004, the childH5288 H4191diedH8804
[18]And al Israel buried him, and lamenting him, according to the word of the Lorde which he spake by the hande of his seruaunt Ahia the prophet [18]And they buriedH6912[H8799] him; and all IsraelH3478 mournedH5594[H8799] for him, according to the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068, which he spakeH1696[H8765] by the handH3027 of his servantH5650 AhijahH281 the prophetH5030.
[19]And the rest of the wordes that concerne Ieroboam, how he warred, and how he raigned, beholde they are written in the booke of the cronicles of the kinges of Israel [19]And the restH3499 of the actsH1697 of JeroboamH3379, how he warredH3898[H8738], and how he reignedH4427[H8804], behold, they are writtenH3789[H8803] in the bookH5612 of the chroniclesH1697[H3117] of the kingsH4428 of IsraelH3478.
[20]And the dayes which Ieroboam raigned, were two and twentie yeres: And when he was layed asleepe with his fathers, Nadab his sonne raigned in his steade [20]And the daysH3117 which JeroboamH3379 reignedH4427[H8804] were twoH8147 and twentyH6242 yearsH8141: and he sleptH7901[H8799] with his fathersH1, and NadabH5070 his sonH1121 reignedH4427 in his steadH8799.
[21]Rehoboam the sonne of Solomon raigned in Iuda: and Rehoboam was fourtie and one yeres olde when he began to raigne, & he raigned seuenteene yeres in Hierusalem, the citie which the Lorde did choose out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there: His mothers name was Naama, an Ammonite [21]And RehoboamH7346 the sonH1121 of SolomonH8010 reignedH4427[H8804] in JudahH3063. RehoboamH7346 was fortyH705 and oneH259 yearsH8141 oldH1121 when he began to reignH4427[H8800], and he reignedH4427[H8804] seventeenH7651[H6240] yearsH8141 in JerusalemH3389, the cityH5892 which the LORDH3068 did chooseH977[H8804] out of all the tribesH7626 of IsraelH3478, to putH7760[H8800] his nameH8034 there. And his mother'sH517 nameH8034 was NaamahH5279 an AmmonitessH5985.
[22]And Iuda wrought wickednesse in the sight of the Lorde, and angred him in mo thinges then their fathers dyd in their sinnes which they sinned [22]And JudahH3063 didH6213[H8799] evilH7451 in the sightH5869 of the LORDH3068, and they provoked him to jealousyH7065[H8762] with their sinsH2403 which they had committedH2398[H8804], above all that their fathersH1 had doneH6213.[H8804]
[23]For they also made them hie places, images, and groues on euery hie hill, and vnder euery thicke tree [23]For they also builtH1129[H8799] them high placesH1116, and imagesH4676, and grovesH842, on every highH1364 hillH1389, and under every greenH7488 treeH6086.
[24]And there was a stewes of male children in the lande, and they did according to all the abhominations of the nations which the Lord cast out before the children of Israel [24]And there were also sodomitesH6945 in the landH776: and they didH6213[H8804] according to all the abominationsH8441 of the nationsH1471 which the LORDH3068 cast outH3423[H8689] beforeH6440 the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478.

[26]And toke away the treasures of the house of the Lorde, and the treasures of the kings house, & spoyled all that was to be had: And he toke away all the shieldes of golde which Solomon had made [26]And he took awayH3947[H8799] the treasuresH214 of the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, and the treasuresH214 of the king'sH4428 houseH1004; he even took awayH3947[H8804] all: and he took awayH3947[H8799] all the shieldsH4043 of goldH2091 which SolomonH8010 had madeH6213.[H8804]
[27]In whose steade king Rehoboam made brasen shieldes, and committed them vnto the handes [of the keping] of the captaynes of the garde, which wayted at the doore of the kinges house [27]And kingH4428 RehoboamH7346 madeH6213[H8799] in their stead brasenH5178 shieldsH4043, and committedH6485[H8689] them unto the handsH3027 of the chiefH8269 of the guardH7323[H8801], which keptH8104[H8802] the doorH6607 of the king'sH4428 houseH1004.
[28]And when the king went into the house of the Lorde, they of the garde bare them, & brought them againe into the garde chamber [28]And it was so, whenH1767 the kingH4428 wentH935[H8800] into the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, that the guardH7323[H8801] bareH5375[H8799] them, and brought them backH7725[H8689] into the guardH7323[H8801] chamberH8372.
[29]The rest of the wordes that concerne Rehoboam, and all that he did, are they not written in the booke of the cronicles of the kinges of Iuda [29]Now the restH3499 of the actsH1697 of RehoboamH7346, and all that he didH6213[H8804], are they not writtenH3789[H8803] in the bookH5612 of the chroniclesH1697[H3117] of the kingsH4428 of JudahH3063?
[30]And there was warre betweene Rehoboam and Ieroboam all their lyues [30]And there was warH4421 between RehoboamH7346 and JeroboamH3379 all their daysH3117.
[31]And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buryed besyde his fathers in the citie of Dauid: His mothers name was Naama, an Ammonite.
